Great bike. My favourite road bike of all time which is why I keep and enjoy one. Mine is a low miles rsvr.
It had many firsts and was massively ahead of its time. Some unique features: first ever production machine to employ brembo radial goldline racing brakes; first bike to emply mass centralisation even pipping Honda by years; first vee twin to beat Ducati at their own game by snatching the WSB title from them after it’s launch and reworking by Cosworth.
Both Akrapovic and Arrow made race and road exhausts for them. The Arrow slip on can is rarer and produces a little more horsepower and has a smooth linear power delivery with standard rp58 eprom. Makes around 132bhp crank or 120ish rear wheel bhp over the standard 115 to 118bhp.
Rsvr is lighter with full ohlins suspension, oz forged racing wheels, lots of carbon bits and is more desirable.
It was so unique and different. First true sports bike you could actually tour on in reasonable comfort unlike Ducati or the honda sp1. It had a decent tank range of 150 miles too.
Sublime chassis which cuts it even today.
Real world performance you can actually use on the roads. Still very fast even today as well as a lightweight at 387lbs for the rsvr. Mid ten standing 1/4 time and a shade over 3 secs to 60 keep it a bike to demand respect.
Simply a wonderful, lovely and reliable sports classic. Good ones are getting scarce and values for really good rsvr models are now going north of £5k, deservedly so.
If this were launched today it would still look unique, sound unique and would probably sell in droves for its purity and design.
    Stunning bikes.

The time has to put the rsv mille in her place. One of the best bikes ever made.

I've moved onto a GS due to age / practicality but spent many happy years on Gen 1 RSVs and Tuonos. Love them, that Rotax engine just keeps pulling!!
