Must keep moving ! A body in motion stays in motion. I love skating at 50. I enjoy the parks. Yea when I slam it hurts but I get back up. I just take better care of myself. Don’t over due it. I know my limitations but man these parks today !!! Wooo man I wish we had some of these when I was in the streets ! PS old heads , no shame in wearing pads ! I got a nasty couple hippers before I bought some.
We would have killed for parks like these when we were teenagers, but I'm glad I get to skate them now. I get busted up enough with the pads and the driveway slam was completely padless and really sucked. Glad you are still skating and enjoying it!
I found that skating clears my mind of everything. It's just me and the board . I have limited time to skate because of busy work and family schedule but I've been getting out once a week and it feels great
You are so right about that. I am in a caregiver situation right now which is not something I am made for, and the skating, both board and inlines, is the only thing keeping me sane!
It's exactly what I've been thinking when Iwas young don't have the money, or a skate park near home even in the city. Now my brother and I just turned to roller blades to close that circle. Abrazo desde México, you're some kind of inspiration.
Really good point about just getting out there, every session doesnt have to be groundbreaking….. if youre not feeling it just take it easy,,. Its not about improving or going big every time your skating, its about being consistent and getting out there
Dude I loved the video. Great little inspirational piece. You got me when you said it takes on a life of its own. This is what happened to me in a nutshell. 2 years ago I never would’ve imagined being where I am now not only with skating but with a fricking RUclips channel on top of that. I never saw that coming!! 😮
Yeah man, I think we both have the same idea about it all. Movement is key and you got to keep it going even if its hard. Sometimes just starting is all it takes. I was thinking of scrapping this footage, but thought maybe it could help someone struggling with motivation. I'm really glad you liked it!
That's a great age to start, you haven't lost much at that point and you should be able to really progress. Consistency is the key and I hope you can get out and have some fun!
Yea, I have been trying all my life, mostly unsuccessfully, to get my friends and co-workers to be more active, but its a hard sell when they have seen first hand how many times I have been hurt over the years. I just consider that part of living life to its fullest, but they apparently don't!
@@theaverageoldguy everyone to their own, i guess. Had awful sesh just right now. To much noise, MTBs around, little ones to avoid. My mind was somewhere else, tho it was nice workout.
Nice. heading out tomorrow in the heat with board and blades. wish me luck. I got a fakie 360 in the halfpipe on blades the other day, but it was at a very low height
Nice job! I tried some 360s in the grass for the July back to blading challenge and I can't make the full rotation. Even without skates, I can barely spin a 360, there is no way I am trying it on the concrete! Hope you have a good session!
@@theaverageoldguy Yeah, I'm not great at spinning. I can just barely do a 360 in shoes. But on the ramp, it's actually a little easier because you can carve very wide, so it's almost like a 270. So then I will just increase the height on the ramp and also reduce the radius of the carve
@@baiaili80 And you are starting and landing fakie?? I have tried some little jumps on the ramps fakie, like just coming off the ramp a few inches and landing back and man that is awkward for me. My son can do it on a corner, go up one side forwards and then land the other side fakie. I am still working on that kind of thing.
@@theaverageoldguy yeah, starting fakie. I'll post a short so you can see what I'm talking about. It's only up the ramp a couple feet, but it's a start.

Thanks! I'm going for the Speed Racer look.

Thank you for watching. I almost sent this footage to the delete bin, and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it!

That's 100% right. Consistency is the key to everything physical. Just showing up is 90% of the battle especially when you get old and it gets hard.
I’m 45 and jumped on a skateboard a few days ago and am hurt and sore as hell for three four days after. Used muscles I haven’t used in a while
It will make you sore for sure, especially if you slam! Keep going and it will get better, well the skating, not so much the slams, they always hurt😁
Algorithm sent me. Probably because I am older and looking at skateboarding stuff. Keep it up!
Thanks for checking it out and commenting!
Good shit dude
Hell yeah. Congrats on 1k subs! Keep rollin 🤙
Thanks, I never really saw that coming but happy to offer some motivation to us older "kids"

As a 55-year-old blader I couldn't agree more 👏👏👏. Use it or lose it.
As you know, it doesn't get any easier as you get older, but is anything easy ever so fulfilling.
Gnarly!
great insight, just picked up skateboarding at 40, need to get out more

Exactly right. Work on expanding your comfort zone by intentionally being uncomfortable and you open up a whole world of adventure.
Quit skating 2 years ago.... my pants don't fit any more.
