Go 'head Roy! I loved his scat at 1:09:11. The man was all about jazz. The man was all about the blues. The man was all about soul. The man was all about funk. The man was a walking encyclopedia concerned with the history and the progress of American music. Besides democracy the one great gift our country has given the world is our music. Deeply rooted in the African-American experience, jazz, the blues, funk, soul and R&B are treasures worth more than all the money in the world. I dared say that without there being an America, there would be no jazz. The "African" in "African-American" is important. But make no mistake about it, no America, no jazz.
I love U my jazz sister and brother u both have a bless talent together along with the band u guys r awesome!!!! I watch this video all the time great performance. Roy Hargrove's RH Factor the best. Extra to u Roy keep playing the instrument and with the Roy Hargrove Quintet, yea.....Nice, Love Ya all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's Roy's little brother with the afro over there on the keyboards. Did Roy ever make a bad album? The answer that I've come to after much deliberation is HELL NAW!!
I didn't know they were even thinking about gigging anymore... That version of Rich Man's Welfare is really low energy though, not really much of a vibe like in past performances. I hope the performance proves to be better than first impression
+Tyler Lee totally agree! I think it had to do with the whole band's audio levels, this performance sounded live. Even his other live performance sound more well mixed.
maybe VerdiKtagrad ignores the fact that Dennis, prior to his exposure to the jazz-fusion scene with the band of John Scofield in the late 80's, had been the drummer for P-Funk all stars and related projects for about 10 years. but yeah... i guess you don't need to funk hard to be in P-Funk.
@@D_sull93 i saw Dennis Chambers 1985 AT the Loreley Openair Rockpalast Driving George Clinton's Parliafunkadelicement Allstars, and he was Sir Drumfunk superior. You might onlyz know his Jazz Rock Fusion Stuff, but he was the ultimate P Funk Drummer. Later on he reserved that Pocket for Maceo.
@@user-qk6qy6eo9m I assume they're talking about the keyboard solo at 19:29 rather than the clavi sound. That said, I don't really agree - a synth solo with a guitar-ish tone isn't trying to be a guitar, it's a different instrument.
Nah fam RH was mad sick by this time with just 3 years left of his life. Failing kidneys, dialysis every 4 days, playing on implants cuz his real teeth went bad and had to be pulled. Roy suffered for years while giving us life in his music. How many other trumpet kats would even sound as good as bro in his situation? RIP RH - the greatest jazz trumpeter of his generation.
Rest in peace, Roy wish I had a chance to see you live
GOOD VIBES 😅👍🏾🎤🎹🎷🎵🎺🎼

Very nice, they are in my collection. I hear several different influences.
Descanse en paz sr. Hargrove, su música vivirá en nuestros corazones. gracias por ese legado que nos dejo.

Lenny's bass line under Tivon's solo starting at 7:08 is crazy!!! RIP

Keyboard make my mood
1:09:08 this man just said hit me and that shit was fire
Epic Ass Solo is actually a song composed by the late Ornette Coleman, one of Roy's Texas idols.
Jeff Putterman which song is that
It is School Days aka Dancing in your Head.
This is Fuckin Incredible
Is that Dennis Chambers back there at 51:17?
J T Thomas
Official ! ! !
R.I.P. Roy.
Line up? I know a few (Bobby Sparks, Renee Neufville)
+Javier Lorca I totally agree with you omg
Alguem sabe o nome deste saxofnista que esta tocando o sax alto?
Bruce Williams
Anybody know what kind of Synth pedal Lenny Stalworth is using during his bass solo around the 52 minute mark? Thanks!
Tivon :)
The tenor man looks just like Maceo Parker. Maceo was James Brown's sax man.
X Cell
Tivon penicott is the bees knees
1:13:25 ;)
The lick
Wish there was more drummer photography !

+Tyler Lee I think that unfortunately Mr Roy Hargrove haveing some health problems. But Im so glad to see him makeing and enjoying music enyway!!!
+Tyler Lee I gotta agree with Jhefte, I can barely hear the bass.
I have a pretty good mix here. And didn't find their performance dull at all...
I agree. I actually loved it!
That's where groove was going . . .
whats the music of ''31:'15 :? please?
i think its not song of RH. try to search her solo albums
December (Renee Neufville) found it
I'll stay 1:01:07
😥
Is the drummer Dennis Chambers son?
dennis never funked this hard.
Nick Murphy No, the drummer is Jason 'JT' Thomas. One of the baddest cats out there! He is currently playing with Snarky Puppy.
@@D_sull93 Lol. Ur trippin.

Bugs me that they used a synth e. guitar when they had a a dude right there playing a REAL guitar. Amazing otherwise :^)
they use clavicords in the album version, and that is what is used here

I agree. The guy sounded great and everything but give the guitar player some!!
who are the two sax players ?
+eike sax Tivon Pennicott tenor, don't know the alto player.
Bruce Williams
Dang, His chops weren't together on this date. Must have been playing a bit too much during that tour period. #tired
Sientase señora 😊

Look at all those white audience who can't move to the groove haha
Great band, terrible mix!!
That's Tivon on tenor.
