That's why shows like Velma got hate-watched into a second season. Disney are the only ones who actually have the real, raw viewership and engagement data - they don't release it. But Disney is a business and they keep making content like this, despite more than a decade now of toxic chuds crying their eyes out online every time a woman/LGBTQ person/POC is centered in a story. It's a safe bet that the product is performing quite satisfactorily for them, and there's no real reason to expect them to stop making it any time soon. While we don't have the *real* numbers and never will, basically all reputable third party metrics (from big outfits like Nielsen, on down to the smaller outfits who arguably have better methodology than Nielsen, at least with regard to streaming shows) indicate strong viewership numbers and engagement for the Acolyte. So it remains more likely than not that we get a second season. And as someone who actually *does* love Star Wars, I've been trying to make it a point the last few weeks to send my thanks out to all the chuds flooding the box with negative engagement. Because I've really enjoyed this (flawed, imperfect, but still quite good) show, and our chances of getting a second season have been dramatically improved by all the hate-engagement.
I see Sol as a proto version of the kinda dogma that creates the rigidity we see in Obi-Wan and Mace Windu. And Vanestra using him as a scapegoat makes perfect sense
I think Headland thought that season 1 would be smooth sailing into season 2. She didn't anticipate the negative reviews that season 1 would receive. So now we're in limbo. We need a season 2 to answer questions, but season 2 might not get made.
This series never explains how Qimir knew about Mae or the twins. Was Qimir on Brendok hiding in the background, or did Mother Korill use Qimir to get revenge?
I believe he didn’t actually know about their vergence background - when Sol mentioned that this episode, Qimir seemed genuinely surprised. To say Mae was simply someone he sensed the Dark Side in years later and elected to train, wagering once her revenge was complete, she’d be the perfect acolyte. The vergence information having been a nice surprise on top of that.
@johnfrancisgillman6806 But how did Qimir (stranger) come to know of Mae's existence? Someone rescued Mae when she was a child - I'm thinking mother Korill. But at some point, Qimir found out about Mae and decided to train her, then use her to get revenge on the Jedi- Vernestra Roh in particular.
First of all, do not confuse all of the hate review bombing with people not enjoying the show because the people who are actually watching the show the majority of them like the show. But, it is a shame that "Star Wars fans" are the ones destroying Star Wars.
Those people aren't Star Wars fans. They're just a bunch grifters using Star Wars as a crutch to complain about Disney and wokeness. That's all their arguments are. They don't actually critique the content objectively. They aren't actually interested in discussing Star Wars.
My unsolicited thoughts: 1. Action scenes when they happened were pretty good. 2. The story is suspect. Seems like they had grand ideas but just weren't able to bring it home. What is the need to paint the whole Jedi order as incompetent? 3. Most of the acting wasn't good. Unfortunately Amandla Stenberg was pretty much stone-faced the whole time. 4. Dafne Keen, Manny Jacinto, and Lee Jung-jae were the standouts. Lee learned English for the role for goodness sakes! 5. Someone in charge teally needs to take a hard look at the Star Wars product being put out. Other than the Bad Batch nothing is consistently good and that's ended.
@ericb9252 I guess if you don't like anything happening and long drawn out storylines this was awesome. Outside of the first season of the Mandalorian most of the series seem so intent on Easter eggs and set up for future projects than just giving us a great story.

Hard agree, shows like Boba Fett, Ahsoka and the Acolyte are ridden with writing problems. The weird part to me is that they have shown that they are capable of making something really good (Rogue One and Andor)....but are seemingly unable to do so consistently? Also, this director and writing team bringing Plagueis into the story makes me worried. From what I have seen, Plagueis is not a character they would be able to handle correctly. (Darth Plagueis is the best EU book and should be given to their best director and writers if they are going to adapt it.)
I’ve really enjoyed the Acolyte, I do think it could’ve been a film and maybe wouldn’t have felt rushed in some areas if it was. Not all the flashbacks needed to be whole episodes. If they leave us like this with just a glimpse of Plagueis 😭😭.

I also personally like shows that leave questions unanswered, it gives them longevity. Gatekeepers, please gatekeep on your own time.. Thanks.
Acolyte episode finale was great it wrapped up all the storylines and lived up to what I predicted in the theories. It was good that they showed us the senator's view of the Jedi order, which I have held all the time since I watched the tragic story of Anakin and all the violence against sensitive individuals, but also the power of worshiping groups and cults that destroyed life. Everyone got what they deserved Sol Mae, Osha, Qimir,... I'm proud of Basil for helping Mae, Qimir's helmet made great sense since we know how strong his connection to the force is. #Hyperspace disaster/ catastrophe and we saw how Vernestra sensed him without her at such a distance. And most of all, they could finally see the life action of our beloved Gigachad of the Moon race, Darth Plagueis, man, his rake and his face are so sexy, it's now clear that he had Qimir before Palpatine. It would be great if Star Wars Legends saw the Darth Plagueis book in a new form for Canon. Anyway, I can't wait for Acolite season 2, I know that they have several series planned to complete the last phase of the High Republic era, because after the books, comics and series Jedi young andventures. Acolite and the game Eclipse are probably the last to close this era. Well, Andor season 2, Tales of the Jedi & Empire together with the Mandoverse projects will close the Skywalker Saga. and then I will gradually move on to Dawn of The Jedi and Jedi New Order. And of course the Old Republic era, so far we only have the confirmed Remake of The Knights of the Old Republic with Darth Revan in the main role. Heck Yeaaaaah the Disney Star Wars timeline is on a much better path than the Star Wars legends projects were. images.app.goo.gl/6xXb8iczBjhxeWmXA I'm glad that George Lucas himself didn't like what they did with Luke, for example, because he probably wanted Luke to be a panic until death because he really hated Mara Jade's character.
There is no story here. Just concepts and rough ideas strung up to connect that were extremely poorly executed in terms of momentum, story, characterization and aesthetics. Character development and motivation defies logic and common sense. So many characters have a pinball sense of assuredness in terms of what they want or do.
@@SeanS102 You're settling - you only seem unaware of it. The fact that you think that there are worse Star Wars shows than this is indicative of that. This is even worse than pretty much most non- Star Wars shows. This show, right from the beginning does not make sense logically from a story, character or canon point of view. Go rewatch the whole from the start and tell me if anything the characters do, or the plot points make any logical sense. It's poorly though out and is driven by other motivations outside the show. It's poorly made and executed. It even looks cheap. Character motivations can break someone's neck as they veer from one position to another.
When this story was announced I was unsure because there was none of my favs and it was set before everything but this series and the character have grown on me and I would love a season 2 I really need more I'd be down for a season 2 One's thing for sure - Qimir got his Acolyte he said he wanted in episode 5
I feel they should get another season as it’s the creator first season and they could improve in a season two as did many of the other ones like clone wars many didn’t like that and it took a few to get going and I feel the story that the Jedi isn’t perfect needs to be said as if they were they’d not fall in the prequels
There's been some good from this show, but also a lot of bad in my opinion. The thing im nost confused by is that Yord was revealed to have a padawan in the firsg episode and we NEVER saw them again. Their master died and they probably don't know
@@ssotkow The progression of viewership for Andor showed “legs”. It also got critical and awards attention - which has follow on viewership benefits. from another reactor saying they should hire someone to edit this show into a movie format, yea hthey should. in japan they do this for animes (mainly mecha genres) on a movie versio nthat cuts out the fluff/excessive dialogue and lore, reedit scenes to connect better or even add new ones in, cut down to a 2-3 hours long film based on how much episodes they convert and boom rerelease it.
They should continue this story as a movie. Disney is not comfortable doing trilogies now so I think it makes the most sense to do a Disney+ show and if people gravitate to the characters and the story, finish the story arc in a cinematic event.
"MAKE IT BLEEEEED." I literally just learned that the crystals are all the same, but once a Sith mercs, it turns red. I cannot believe i *just* learned that yesterday and now I get to see it!
Unfortunately, you got to see a very inaccurate portrayal of how Kyber crystal is bled. it doesn’t bleed simply because you get angry, it bleeds because you have to very specifically concentrate your hatred and give into the dark side in order for it to go red. It takes a very real effort to accomplish, and it has to be done by someone who is very powerful and experienced in the force.
everyone agrees the clone wars "movie" and s1 weren't great but now many say they love clone wars the most. Acolyte while not the greatest ever is good enough to more than warrant more seasons to tell us the story of plagueis and his plan.

They can't show us Plagueis _and_ Yoda and not have a second season in the works (maybe we'll see Plagueis and a young Palpatine head-nodding to "Rapper's Delight"🤷♂). Besides, I don't think Disney gives a flying toot about the narcissists (as they shouldn't), the pronouns bit with Bazil seemed to be a dig at them. I actually had a few conversations with a "disgruntled fan" who actually admitted to not watching the series, only some reactions. He somehow had a list of things wrong with the series😄. And what happened to the rule of two?… why would Darth Plagueis be sitting back and watching his own apprentice run around trying to find another apprentice? he was a very strict practitioner of the rule of two.
The feet dragging for faux twins and for characters with no attachment developed for the audience, nowhere near like Andor, was pretty frustrating. Minimal impact is correct. It also feels like predictable consequences from a rather simple set of bad decisions. I think every reactor I've watched saw it coming, that Osha would be the dark side acolyte. Perfect sense??????? Nothing in this show mskes sense. Evil is good and good is evil. Women are great and men are incompetent??????
@@NeterRafi77You certainly are incompetent.
I think Headland thought that season 1 would be smooth sailing into season 2. She didn't anticipate the negative reviews that season 1 would receive. So now we're in limbo. We need a season 2 to answer questions, but season 2 might not get made.
Just did my reaction! I swear Sol vs Quimir is my fav moment! i wanna watch that fight like five more times
I love how they set up all these cliff hangers because they were expecting a season 2. Yeahhh, good luck with that.
So now we can see why Ki Adi Mundi said what he said about the Sith in episode one
My unsolicited thoughts:
Hard disagree. The shows have all been consistently good to great
@ericb9252 I guess if you don't like anything happening and long drawn out storylines this was awesome. Outside of the first season of the Mandalorian most of the series seem so intent on Easter eggs and set up for future projects than just giving us a great story.

@@ericb9252 i have been enjoying the star wars shows disney has been putting out, but calling them consistently good to great for anything other than their fanservice moments is just false lol. (speaking for all the shows except for andor which i havent gotten to yet)
But having yoda know all this shit will have bingo ramifications especially if he kept all this quiet

Whoever wrote episode 5 should write season 2.

I'm glad that George Lucas himself didn't like what they did with Luke, for example, because he probably wanted Luke to be a panic until death because he really hated Mara Jade's character.
I mean I love Plagueis as much as the next guy but I wouldn’t describe him as sexy 😅
Wtf did I just read. 👎🏻
Lots of dumb shit in this post
I think I broadly agree, there's about two hours worth of story in this show, it should have been a film I feel
There is no story here. Just concepts and rough ideas strung up to connect that were extremely poorly executed in terms of momentum, story, characterization and aesthetics. Character development and motivation defies logic and common sense. So many characters have a pinball sense of assuredness in terms of what they want or do.
@@eddiek8179 I certainly wouldn't go that far.
@@SeanS102 If anything I was being kind. You guys really need shouldn't be settling with mediocre content.
@@eddiek8179 I have criticisms of this show so I'm not settling for anything. I do however think there have been worse Star Wars shows
@@SeanS102 You're settling - you only seem unaware of it.
When this story was announced I was unsure because there was none of my favs and it was set before everything but this series and the character have grown on me and I would love a season 2 I really need more I'd be down for a season 2
One's thing for sure - Qimir got his Acolyte he said he wanted in episode 5
I feel they should get another season as it’s the creator first season and they could improve in a season two as did many of the other ones like clone wars many didn’t like that and it took a few to get going and I feel the story that the Jedi isn’t perfect needs to be said as if they were they’d not fall in the prequels
There's been some good from this show, but also a lot of bad in my opinion. The thing im nost confused by is that Yord was revealed to have a padawan in the firsg episode and we NEVER saw them again. Their master died and they probably don't know
Imagine if Lost was on now, the show would be canceled.
You mentioned 180 mil being to high, but remember Andor's budget was 250 with even lower viewership, yet got S2.
@@ssotkow The progression of viewership for Andor showed “legs”. It also got critical and awards attention - which has follow on viewership benefits. Andor’s budget was really impacted by COVID protocols where budgets were exploding. Andor’s S1 pattern is more akin to GoT S1 or Shogun S1 which wasn’t high at the beginning but grew as the season progressed and word of mouth. We’ll see if Acolyte will benefit from after finale buzz.
The difference is that the viewership grew as opposed to the Acolyte whos viewrship dropped by more than 50% by episode 7
@@chibakutensei8799 According to a US-based viewership metrics in Nielsen? The worldwide picture is much sunnier for The Acolyte, as the omnipresent culture war-induced review bombing is most serious here in the States. @@ssotkow oh yeah? I guess we will find out wont we?….only way this monstrosity returns is with a whole different production team, showerunner, writers etc and do it over. from another reactor saying they should hire someone to edit this show into a movie format, yea hthey should. in japan they do this for animes (mainly mecha genres) on a movie versio nthat cuts out the fluff/excessive dialogue and lore, reedit scenes to connect better or even add new ones in, cut down to a 2-3 hours long film based on how much episodes they convert and boom rerelease it.

This has got to be the only Star Wars story that disappointed me and I've enjoyed all the others. I think I expected more. Sol and Qimir were such strong characters, the fights were so good.
