There are different interpretations of the line “I do not exist” but the one I’ve always understood was that we should put God before our own desires, and by thinking you do not exist you can truly open yourself up to bettering others and living a more faithful life in Christ.
Aaron Weiss, the lyricist of this band, has a diverse spiritual background. A studious christian as well as a studious Sikh and from what I understand a true seeker of the Divine, regardless of how you decide to name and quantify it. With that said, I think the last lines (I do not exist, only You exist) are some of his more Eastern spiritual influences coming to light. The album following this really dove deep into those aspects of his spirituality. Just my take of course.
Please listen to A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains by the same band!!!! Wonderful song, my favorite from this album

My favorite song from mewithoutyou
I feel God’s presence so much in this beautiful song, one of my all times favorites.
It's unfortunate that you just got into them. I went to the first show of their farewell tour last year it was amazing.

My 2 suggestions for reactions:
John Van Deusen - "Whatever Makes You Mine"
OR
Joanna Newsom - "Time, As a Symptom"
thanks, John. I'm unfamiliar with both and love listening to new music!
