No advice because my kids are just 4 and 1 but i made so many mistakes as a preteen/teen. To keep it simple and as a newbie, tell her to wash and detangle in sections. Thats a lot of hair so maybe 6 to 8 until she can handle less? Protect you hair at night with a pillow case or scarf. My hair broke off sooo bad at her age for not using one. Tell her to moisturize at least one or twice a week in sections. My hair was always so dry as a teen. All i cared about was the gel giving me a nice ponytail meanwhile my hair was brittle and dry. From my experience too many ponytails can cause breakage. The middle of my hair broke off so bad from keeping it in a ponytail. My oldest daughter has hair like Caliyah so I honestly follow you for advice and styling but those are things I would tell her. She can do it !

How does she feel about the hair cut? I actually don’t see anything wrong with a cut and that way she can learn it from there, otherwise it could break if she can’t manage.

Thank you so much for your advice! This was much appreciated. She does have a hard time keeping her scarves on at night. I think it's time to invest n some satin pillowcases. Working in sections was definitely the hardest part for her right now with detangling and parting. We've recorded her first twist out and will be posting that soon. I'm going to continue to encourage her and I thank you for your helpful tips.

She's definitely going to experience breakage because she's learning to manage, which is why I want to cut it. She isn't thrilled about it right now, but I'm hoping that once she sees what goes into maintaining this much hair she'll be more open to the hair cut.

Omg you were trying to get get to loc it ?? Is because her hair is tighter than the other two girls or was it just because she was going to maintain it herself . I hope she doesn’t feel that her hair is a burden

I wanted to loc it to help her learn to maintain it and it was also becoming overwhelming for me too. She has gotten frustrated already with it and I don't want her to lose the pride she feels with beautiful curls. It's going to be a process for sure.
