Breaks my heart that Carmen was smart enough and strong enough to escape that car and wave down for help just for nothing to happen and no one to save her.
So someone that knew Wanda saw her struggle with a big bag of groceries but didn’t bother to get her butt off the bar stool to lend a hand?! Maybe if she did Wanda would still be around.
Exactly, AND a former babysitter, a caretaker. Also, the mom prolly only sent her younger daughter out, obviously not in concern for safety, but to retrieve her big ass bag of groceries. If it was 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 much crap, she was probably in desperate need of those items. Not enough to actually go and get them though
Maybe if Wanda's mother had gotten off her own damn butt and gotten her own damn groceries for her own kid that she chose to have, Wanda would still be around. Just saying.
That poor baby was coloring in a coloring book and her mom made her go run an errand. That breaks my heart. And the first girl still having dried tears when she was found.. oh my gosh :( I just wanna hold them all!
@@BlackTigersoul I think its just that a little girl shouldn't be doing errands like that by herself. I know my cousin use to do that all the time but for some families the concept is too odd.
Olivia D this whole story is traumatizing. These poor girls. My daughter just turned 12 and I can’t even imagine, like even think about it. These babies didn’t deserve anything like this. Literally a devil on this earth.
I'm only half way through this video but I'm leaning toward it being someone that worked in the school. Which would explain how he knew their first and last names started with the same letter. Which would also make the kids trust them because they saw him every day at school. U also mentioned each child had disabilities which makes me wonder if they all were in special ed classes..
I absolutely agree with this theory. How else would the killer have selected these poor little girls by their names? I hope all employees who would have had contact with all three were thoroughly investigated!
The thing is how did he find little girls with twin initials and happen to find them walking alone at a certain time, he was stalking them for weeks I'm sure. It's so sick and sad that there's people who do this out there and haven't been found UGG !
It also could’ve been someone from a church too because she mentioned they were all Roman Catholic. I definitely think all three girls knew their killer
I have a theory that Carmen was attacked more personally than the other two girls because of how she tried to escape and the killer was more angry with her due to that to where it was more personal and angering .
I really hope that a-hole teacher realizes what she did by keeping a little girl late after class for being the victim of bullying. What the....? I just have no words.
svolden614 many schools do this. When I was in elementery, I would get bullied. My teacher would get mad at me for being a disruption. When I started my freshman year as well, I had a bigger chest and I would have to run and I would get introuble for distracting the boys. U started to hold my chest as I ran and got detention for distraction and chewed out for being ‘sexual.” But the guys who made fun of me didnt get shit. Teachers just dont give a fuck.
Schools say they care for the children of being bullied but they don’t. They make it worse. I got detention for 3 weeks cause I went and told the teacher what was happening and what my bully was doing. And what happened I got detention for being a snitch. When it was happening for months and I was getting to the point of not wanting to be in school. But I loved school (weird I know but I loved science arts history and reading a lot). There’s a reason bullying is so high along with depression and sadly suicide all mostly due to school teachers and bullies.
@@gertskook Conservatives, and idiots (there's enormous crossover in both groups) think that bullying should be expected and that it does no harm, and that bullies shouldn't be reprimanded for their cowardly actions. That is, naturally, complete nonsense. Bullying can leave a permanent imprimatur on the victim's psyche, leaving them mistrustful, depressed, unable to interact socially and prone to drug, alcohol and food issues. Conservatives like to ridicule 'safe rooms', and any other measures developed to give victims some respite from their tormentors, because they were, and are, without doubt bullies themselves. It's easy also, to tell children to "Be Best", as it regards online bullying, despite the strange use of the vernacular, but the message itself is corrupted, when you can't even control the bully you share a home and family with. The hypocrisy of saying "My wife's son, Barron is off limits" because he's just a child, but then you go out and ridicule another child, Greta Thuneberg to a crowd of geering adult imbeciles, is incredible. No, there's a LONG way to go before we come anywhere close to solving the bullying issue, and a perplexing message like "Be Best" just doesn't come off as sincere. She may as well wear a coat emblazoned with the words, "I don't really care, DO YOU"?
@@glitterlover3244 That's because they were just "being boys." Whatever the fuck that means. I had the same issues. As far as bullies go, even if you're getting your ass handed to you and trying to escape you still get in trouble. Such bullshit. I'm so glad school is ancient history. I think half of them are dead now. >:-D
She is super awesome I just recently found her but have you checked out Criminally Listed? It's a different format and is my all time favorite channel, this is a close second.
"....how about this, go get your own groceries!" I swear I was thinking the exact same thing at the exact same time! It def was a different time compared to what we live in today...
Mandi W Wow!!! That's so scary! So the crime rate against children is low? U r such an angel to help watch the kids like that! I'm that way everywhere I go...it's just how i am I suppose... Yeah, different cultures r fascinating to me (I'm a Navy Vet, so travel was so interesting to me)
Mandi W Wow! That is amazing! I have a much better understanding! If more adults here in the U.S. would stand up for children like that....what a difference it could make!
It definitely is a whole new world, even from when I grew up in the late 80s and 90s in the US. My mom used to always send me to the corner store to buy bits and pieces that we needed, even when it was dark. My dad would travel to other states for seasonal work and we didn’t have a car, so it’d be my mom with 3 children, my younger brothers are 10 months apart so it was like having twins for her. I was relied on quite a lot since I am 6 years older than my brothers. But from then to when my baby sister was born (we’re 16 years apart) my mom didn’t let her go anywhere. We lived in a small, poor type of town and it was usual for a lot of families to do the same with their older children. Sometimes we’d go to a neighbour and ask if one of their kids could come with and they’d have a list as well to pick up. Now days though my niece and nephew (my brothers kids) aren’t allowed to play in the front yard or go outside without an adult.
if michelle’s mum usually walker her home from school, the only way the murderer wouldve known that shed be walking alone that day was a member of staff in the school. this was no coincidence.
I agree, especially if the murders had to do w their names...how else would 1st and last name be known...and they would think they could trust school staff in those days
You are very warm and respectful in the way you describe the three children. I imagine if any of their family were watching your channel today they'd appreciate that.
I have to stop listening to this one :-( the amount of absolutely shit parenting is getting to me. All I can think of is my own little daughters going through something so horrific :'-(
I really think the last mother was a good parent and it was just a horrific situation. Sometimes, no matter how much you want to protect them- you can’t. Depending on the place, time, maturity of the child you have to start giving them the responsibilities they need to function as adults. Caring for your whole family at 11 like in the second case is certainly not appropriate- but if you live in a safe area and have mature kids and a caring community- having them pop down to the corner store for a few items isn’t unreasonable. It’s all about each personal situation.
Either someone was inspired by Carmen’s murder to carry out the next two OR the same person knew Carmen but because he was able to get away with it, he committed the second two
Slightly different modus operandi doesnt have to mean different killer. It could be that Carmen's killing was personnal as you said. He beat her and faced her while he strangled her. Maybe with the other girls he was trying to relive the first killing. That would explain why he needed to bribe them (he felt kind of guilty for using them) and strangled them from the back so he would not see their face but imagine it was Carmen again. Just a (creepy) theory...
It could just mean the killer evolved his method. Like it was stated maybe he changed how he stangled them by seeing the face of Carmen as he killed her. It could have ruined the possible pleasure he might have gotten from the rape. Just a thought...
I feel so heartbroken for all these poor girls. I can't imagine the terror they must have felt when what they thought was a kind stranger took advantage of them and cut their lives short, I wonder how people can be so depraved. I'm also a little pissed that no one was charged in any of the murders because all of the suspects were cowards. Aside from that, I did get one smile out of this video, your baby girl is the most precious thing!!
I feel like carmon was beaten more and strangled in a more personal reason and left in a undressed way because he was angry she tried to escape/he hadn't done it before and was more excited and nervous because of the situation. He probably started giving "treats" to the girls because it he wanted to have them trust him and not to make the same mistakes and he was more experienced and calculated.
I can only hear thru one earbud as well but it works out perfect cause I only ever use one ear bud at a time...Lol... Wouldn't matter anyhow cause I'm LOVING this new channel! 💕💋
What is interesting is that "The Alphabet Murders" was a movie made in 1965 (before the murders occurred) and it was based on the 1936 Agatha Christie novel, "The A.B.C. Murders." The victims in the story have double initials and are killed in a place that starts with the same initial. It could be that the Rochester murders were inspired by the book or its film adaptation and Naso's murders were inspired by the Rochester murders. Just a thought.
Its crazy how they all disappeared while they were doing things for Adults/Family members how is that possible??? Wow i used to do the same errands for my grandma when i was 12 My oldest is 12 now and i will never let her go anywhere by herself My have the times changed
It's funny because it's actually *safer* now. But with so many people watching endless news coverage of missing children, we feel less safe. Fewer than 65 kids are kidnapped by strangers a year - your child is more likely to get hit by lightning staying home and playing in the yard. And *way* more likely to be killed in a car accident if you drive her on errands with you. My husband ran errands for his parents much younger than 12. Pizza every Friday night, the bakery every Sunday. This was 1980s NYC and he had to pass "The Maze" where they sold crack and someone was stabbed to death. But they still felt safe because no one targeted kids and it was daylight (and they may have been right). It was such a different mentality.
Yes, I feel like these stories aren't good for people with the way they want to shelter their kids. Sheltering kids is detrimental to development. Kids are far safer now than they ever been.
I'm sorry...It was "too much" to get up at night and comfort her? what?! and she escaped the car and waved for help and no one stopped to help a CHILD?! 5 mins and 30 secs in and i am already heartbroken for this child!
Since i found your Channel talking about the Watts case I've been binge watching all your videos and I had to subscribe the way you tell the stories have me hooked I feel like I'm watching that old show Unsolved Mysteries
I'm interested to know if you saw this come up in your research at all if investigators at all referred to the The A.B.C. Murders by Agatha Christie. It's a detective crime novel written back in the 1930's about a serial killer whose victims names had the double initial (Alice Asher, Betty Barnard, Carmichael Clark, etc) and their bodies were left in towns with the same first letter as their name. It sounds like the killer could have potentially been inspired by this....
A lot of people in the comments believe it could have been a staff member at the school... Now this makes me wonder if an English teacher or librarian would have been involved.
Yes, I was immeiately reminded of the book too. The murders were all used to cover up one murder that was done by a person close by, so even that would possibly fit!
Being allowed to walk to and from home by yourself wasn’t uncommon nor is it terrible parenting. In fact, it’s still commonplace in Japan and other countries. Babysitting/helping with younger siblings is still a thing. I’m pretty sure that’s how tribes do it. Everyone takes care of each other, especially the young and old.
But we don't have such tribes, now do we? People don't take care of one another anymore, and they certainly weren't doing so in this time frame, either. It's bad worlding then!
Mary Hines something being “normal” doesn’t make it right. Reality is parenting was pretty lazy and shitty those days, especially considering usually the women didn’t even work and could have easily properly supervised their kids. These people lived in suburban America, not in tribes so that analogy is completely irrelevant.
It’s hard not to blame Wanda’s mother a little bit when we know how vulnerable Wanda was. But, stories like these are why we, in this day and age, cannot allow our children to even play in their own yard without adult supervision. There was no collective dialogue about pedophiles, no internet, no Amber Alerts, no awareness at all about the depravity that we are unfortunately all to familiar with now.
My family is from Rochester. My mom was young at the time, living in Rochester and her initials are AA so people would tell her that “she was next” and it freaked her out. She would tell me this story and I thought it was so weird that people would say she was next like wtf.
How would a killer know their initials? 1) He knew them 2) He had contact with a lot of children, asked all of the girls their first and last names, and 3) chose his victims IF their first and last name initials were the same. That makes me believe it was the ice cream truck guy; or, even more probable, someone like a special education teacher or someone affiliated with the church. p.s. Bella is adorable!! What a doll! 😍❤️
Having been born in 1954 and raised during the 60's and early 70's I still have a few observations here which are unpleasant at best.. 1) We moved about every three years due to my father's job with Ralston Purina. 2) Sometimes we lived in small towns, other times in large cities. 3) Even though we played all over our neighborhoods in those days my mother always knew where I was. 4) There was a neighborhood "market" in many of the places we lived and where we would occasionally go to as pre-teens and teenagers to pick up an item or two for our mom and maybe get a soda! or some candy. I had several younger siblings and sometimes Mom needed to stay home with them. That being said--- In no way, shape, or form would my mother have allowed me to go the "market" to buy a bunch of groceries that would be difficult for me to carry home. This is simply abdication of parental responsibility. People always make excuses for these incidents that occured back then by saying, "It was a different time." It wasn't a "different time" to still be a responsible parent even if some circumstances were different. However, as you said, the mother had a drinking problem. 5) Sending ANOTHER child to look for a lost one is the stupidest thing I have ever heard and the mother is very much responsible for what happened to her daughter.
My heart hurts for these girls and their families because one decision in each case changed everyone’s lives forever. That’s a heavy burden to carry. 😞
Stephanie Harlowe U r soo welcome! !! And I kinda have to agree w/ ya about Rochester...lol ...my gf and I came by there on a road trip from Va to The Falls & Toronto years ago... I only remember it being kinda scary...Lol....
The strangling from behind and the redressing suggests remorse. It's far more likely that the killer knew Wanda because he treated her body with more care than the other and didn't want to see her eyes as she died - or more likely, let her see him while he was doing it. It's been suggested that the killer worked at school - I would have definitely looked at the janitor or maintenance man, or the like, because of the dirty hands. It actually sounds like whoever it was knew all the girls, but may have had a relationship with Wanda or was fond of her. Michelle's murder is confusing. By the time she was taken, people were aware of what was going on and were scared, yet she apparently went with him willingly. She was strangled from behind and redressed, which shows the same care as Wanda, but you said it looked like she'd been tossed from a moving care - which blows that theory all to hell. Unless he saw a cop up the road or something, and he had to get rid of the body asap, all the respect he'd shown for her ended when he tossed her out like garbage. Carmen was the anomaly. It may have been that she fought him, and he wasn't prepared for that. There wasn't much info on the forensics in your video - probably because it wasn't available - but I'd want a definite forensic link to be 100% sure that Carmen was a victim of the same killer. Also, killers like that don't just stop. My bet is that he continued his spree somewhere else, but different jurisdictions didn't share info back then.
AllDemMochaLattes xoxo AGREED!!! I only recently found her channel and been binge watching ever since! I LOVE how she presents the stories..so original!
I grew up in the 70s & actually no, times weren’t that different. It was pretty much the same except people didn’t go on the internet and hear about these abductions & murders. Sadly, not all that different.
So true. The things I've heard that happened in the past, I've heard histories about acquaintances, great-grandmothers that were young when they were forced to marry their rapists, parricides, murders, etc. It may not be written but these things just happened as much.
There's actually less crime overall in most places. We just hear about it more. And I guess it's the fact that these parents didn't hear about all the constant crimes that they weren't in a state of constant fear about their children. But some of these were just poor parenting
@@alexhatfield4448 it makes me mad that those people even get protective custody. Those poor children sure weren't afforded that! I would shed no tears for those kinds of people being picked on or killed
This is so heart breaking.. Those poor babies had so much in common in terms of vulnerability because of neglect or bullying and general lack of care with the first little ones. All of that it itself would have contributed to them being targeted. So sad. You do honour them by being a voice for them and drawing attention to their suffering and horrible deaths.
Bella is absolutely adorable! I love your channel Stephanie. You have become part of my daily coffee time. Thank you for your thorough research and methodology in exploring these cases.
Stephanie, you are extremely well spoken. You can tell a story without having to reference much, as if you have it memorized. An AMAZING orator. May I ask what your degrees are in?
I agree, she is amazing at what she does. I think the reason is because you can just feel she has a genuine interest in each case. And a passion for her work, which shines through. Love your channel Stephanie!!!
I was sent to the store with a note from my grandmother when I was a kid. Too young to remember what she wanted so I probably shouldn’t have been sent at all.
I’m in England, I don’t know what it’s like in America but if our parents sent us to the shop with a note we were allowed to purchase cigarettes and alcohol for them 🤦🏼♀️ Once the shop owner kinda knew your family you’d just go in and say “mum sent me for ......” I mean, we were pretty young and little convenience shops were a plenty because we didn’t have Tesco express shops every mile who earned and had the big bucks but still! “Hi, I’m 10, mum wants a litre of vodka and 40 cigarettes” Guaranteed your parents would let you keep the change though lol. You were more excited about that back then
I love the Sesame Street cartoon where a girl repeats what mom wants all the way to the store so she can remember. I still know the list: a loaf of bread, a carton of milk, a stick of butter.
Oh my gosh, the fact that Michelle went to get her mom’s purse was so sweet. That girl had such an amazing heart. All these girls sound like amazing people. It’s so unbelievably sad that the world lost such wonderful lovely girls so young.
Thank you, Candis! I don't need to get rich, I just want to do enough to not have to work so I can do videos every day! I have so much fun with this stuff.
Omg firstly can i say i remember like not too long ago when you had around 2k subscribers and now it's doubled! So happy you're getting the recognition you deserve. And your daughter is super cute, hope she feels better soon :) as for the case i feel just terrible for Michelle in particular. That poor baby, I know what it's like to be bullied and it's terrible and then for her to get the ultimate slap in the face by being murdered so close to her birthday is heartbreaking. I hope she didn't have to suffer too badly for long.
Children being hurt is always awful, but you make such a kind, sensitive description of them that it feels even worse. This is a compliment, though, thank you.
When my mom was growing up in the 80s and 90s she was treated very similarly to those girls, responsible for groceries, going to bars with her mom, and she missed a ton of school because adults in her life were either at work too often to notice or just didn't care. I'm so lucky that things like this didn't happen to her. She did become a victim to different types of abuse at one point and would never ever ever let any of her kids do what she had to do. Kids walking home from school is one thing, especially if the school is close by now that so many people have cell phones. But constantly running errands for your parents and allowing your kids to run on train tracks is awful.
I wonder how the killer knew they had twin initials?? Where there other potential victims that weren't atta ked because they didn't match the pattern he wanted? Or did he get school records, etc and stalk certain girls until they were alone? It seems too odd to be a coincidence.
Great story, my father was retired NYPD and I am a proud native NYer..vaguely remember hearing about this case, as I was a little girl in the late 70's..Very sad..either the suspect moved, went to prison or died. Unfortunately these sick people do not stop unless they have too. On a completely different topic, Your little munchkin is too cute!!
Thank you for your response. I come from a very large Irish family. My father was one of 9, 7 of the 9 were police officers. And my grandfather was a PO, AND my great-grandfather was actually a patrolman in Brooklyn, before the NYPD was formed with the 5 boroughs. So He was one of the 1st NYPD officers!! Long history with many Uncles on the force. So, it was very normal to me to hear them talk about bad guys or cases that they were on. As we got older( I'm one of 5 kids) he was more open with stories and things that he saw. I think that's where my love of true crime and mysteries comes from. It's in my blood to be a detective!!
Last video I watched: “I live in upstate New York, but I’m not going to say exactly where” This video: “I live in Rochester, it sucks” No shade, just found the timing funny. 😂 I’m mid-binge, 2 days in. You’re very intelligent, and very good at analyzing these cases. I’m about to graduate with my BA in criminal justice with a specialization in forensic sciences, and I think you’re one of only handful of people on yt really understand all the elements. Rock on sista
With all of the "adult's" doing nothing to help those babies, those beautiful children never had a chance. You have the best way of telling all of the details and always keeping us interested and your kids are gorgeous.
I have been binge watching all of your videos. Your channel is amazing. That last part with the CWM, spooked me. I got goosebumps. I think that it was the uncle with Carmen, but for the other girls I have no clue. Also your daughter is such a cutie!!!
I must tell you girl, you have a very charming way that you can spin a tale. Your very interesting really, and your eyes express an honest empathic sincerity. Your very good at what you do. Keep up the good work.
your voice is so gentle and your compassion for the victims while still remaining professionally neutral when presenting the details of the case is so refreshing to hear!
Glad I came across your channel you do a great job covering these cases and have such a soothing voice. I luckily found you through a comment you left on another youtubers video and some reason decided to click on you😅🖤
Stephanie Harlowe i wish I could remember exactly. It was definitely someone covering a different true crime case! You mentioned being your mom yourself
I am so glad you covered this case! My aunt was almost one of the victims. Her initials are CC... she was being stalked. She would have been around 8 or 9 at the time. The police in Rochester had her under watch for a while during this time.
Can you do an episode on the Madness of Two? It's about Swedish twin sisters who were acting strangely, ran out onto the M6 in England, and 1 twin went on to kill a man 2-3 days later. There is also time missing about where they were for awhile. They said Ireland, but there is no evidence of them ever being there. They also tried to report their kids missing/kidnapped before running into the motorway. There is a BBC documentary on it & a book, but there is a lot of mystery, intrigue & suspicion surrounding the case & a lot of theories.
@@StephanieHarlowe Search Richard Hall Madness of Two on YT. Richard interviewed the author of Madness of Two about 3 years ago. He brings up some very interesting views and points that the documentary omitted and/or got wrong. Also, Richard Hall & The Armchair Detective (both on YT) have some extremely interesting videos/movies/documentaries on the Madeline Mccann case.
@@StephanieHarlowe One other thing, there are some interesting documentaries on YT about the forced adoptions going on in the UK & how the parents are fleeing to Ireland. Carol Wood was a social worker who had a campaign brought against her, forced into mental institutions etc. for blowing the whistle on these practices. A lot of info out there about it. Bit of you're interested in these things, I would look into some of this.
Stephanie, I just want to thank you for your dedication to the cases you present to us every week. I think you have a beautiful heart and are just as emotionally involved as the very investigators assigned to these particular cases. Again, thank you and God Bless you and your family! 👼
I wish I could upload every day, but it's usually only twice a week. If I didn't have to work I WOULD do a video every day, although that would be impossible because of the research these cases take, lol.
Stephanie Harlowe I agree with @irawave it seems like you upload much more often and I am definitely NOT complaining! You do an amazing job with each of these videos and it feels like you lay out the complete story which makes it feel like a professional show you’d watch on Netflix. Please keep up the incredible work but also looking after yourself because you are just as important to us as the stories you give remembering the victims involved and not just the person who did it. Sometimes with serial killers it becomes all about them and people forget the victims.
I love Stephanie, she knows how to talk about these cases. You can tell it affects her as much as it does us. And Bella is so precious. And her fur babies in the background is an added plus. They are so adorable
I'm from upstate ny and this is the first time hearing this one. Although I wasn't born yet when this happened. I can't imagine people just watched that little girl and not doing anything about it. The poor little thing died thinking no one wanted to help her so sad.
Ugh that just breaks my heart. They SAW HER RUNNING AWAY AND WAVING?! I don't care what decade I'm living, I would've stopped to check at the very least. That poor baby
I remember when I was a kid people talking about this and not wanting to let kids it off sight. I think it has to be someone they knew because how else did he know the initials? Keep up the awesome shows!! She is so adorable!!!
I think also that Carmen was killed by his stepdad (or was it uncle?) and the other two by somebody else, the firefighter is pretty suspicious because of the cat hair and i believe that those girls would have trusted a man in a uniform much easier.. Heart breaking case anyway and so unfair that it has not been solved 😔💔 But I am so glad i found yours channel!! Few days ago subscribed and have been watchinng your videos sence! And sry, english is not my first language so.... 😅 greetings from Finland 🇫🇮😘
I'm so happy there's a new video from you. Honestly, you're so good at storytelling and it's such a pleasure to see your subs number keep growing. You're doing amazing, sweetie! 😘❤😘 ETA: Awww... your daughter is so precious! I hope she'll feel better soon.
You are so well spoken and makes hearing these cases so much easier to digest and understand and follow along and speculate as well. Thank you for giving these cases the light they deserve
There’s no way you can rid yourself of animal hair, so I don’t think the 1st murder is linked to the other two. The cat hair is the biggest clue, maybe if the dna is in a national data computer they will hit on it one day. Hopefully, but most likely the killers hopefully are burning in hell for their crimes.
Reminds me of a Forensic Files episode where the case was solved due to cat hair. The victim was stored in the trunk of the killer's car after she was abducted going to work. Her cat's hair transferred from her clothing to the inner lining of the trunk. The police took a sample of her cat's DNA and matched it to one of the hair follicles found in the man's trunk. What a good kitty to help solve her owner's murder!
I agree, these evil should be dumped into their own personal hell, whatever would be hell for them that's where they should be left to rot, so they never have peace

I know I’m commenting on an older video but i just found you on RUclips recently and have been binge watching your videos and I have to tell you how much I love you and your videos. You have become one of my favorites in just 2 weeks. You can see your passion for what you do and how attached and compassionate you are to each victim or their families you talk about. Can’t wait to watch more and I’m so glad i found your channel
I thought it was odd that they all went to the store before each girl disappeared. Maybe someone who worked there that was familiar with them and knew their last names because of the credit lines they would use back then? Just a thought. Love your videos!!
I grew up in Rochester during this time and had doubled initials. My town of Walworth was where Wanda was found. Needless to say I was freaked and my parents were always freaked. I still worry even though I’m a grown woman with a married name now. It really has stuck with me.
I hadn't even realized your channel was full of beauty tips etc.. I thought I stumbled on a true-crime channel. That would probably explain why there are fewer men commentating lol. You have a knack for explaining events, tying them together, adding some outside experience to it, and packaging it into something that doesn't drag. It builds up and concludes. There are already way too many beauty and other self absorbed channels already, this is quality content. Keep it up!
I'm glad I'm not the only one! My Dad gives me shit for it all the time. "I used to let you walk to your friends house by your self". Like yeah, I grew up in the 90's. It was a completely different time than now. I would NEVER let my daughter do what I did as a child. I see Elementary kids walking past my house all the time and all I can think is "WHERE ARE YOUR PARENTS"?! It's a scary world now...
Shailynn Marie I’m not a mother or anything but whenever I saw kids walking to school past my house I always panic and make sure to watch them through the window
Violent crime is at its lowest ever. Kids are safer now than they have ever been. The stereotypical kidnapping is very rare. Most kids are kidnapped and/or murdered by someone they know. Your child is far more likely to die in a car crash. Some psychologists believe that modern hover parenting is hurting kids development.
I am watching all her videos! Yes, her voice is sooo soothing it puts me to sleep. Then I have to watch it all over. Thank you Steph for being my natural melatonin.
I’m really loving your content! Your little girl is so adorable 💖. Although Carmen’s uncle killing her makes sense since he ran, I also think maybe it was the same killer but since English was Carmen’s second language maybe the killer was a racist and viewed Carmen as subhuman and killed her more brutally and disrespected her body by throwing her out half naked? 🤔 Also I’m confused about her uncle, he was married to her mom , yet he has the same last name ? Was there incest going on? Lol maybe I missed something. Great video, hopefully this case gets solved someday!
He was her fathers brother, so he had the same last name as her. He and Carmen's mother didn't ever legally get married, but in NY if you live with someone for long enough you become their common wealth spouse, so legally you are viewed as their husband or wife.
i think it was more, this is the first murder and she was a fighter. he could be strangling them as he is raping them. some men have that kink. when it comes to serial murders their first kill is sloppy, then as they kill they get more cleaner.
Stephanie - thank you for sharing your darling & adorable daughter with your fans! Especially after the horribly sad story you told about the 3 little girls who's lives were taken so cruelly & unnecessarily. So many thoughts were running through my mind about the girls, their last thoughts, the guilt of family members, the loss of what could have been, the killer never being caught, etc., so seeing your precious baby safely held in your loving & protective arms, was a lovely way to end that unsolved mystery.
This is so heartbreaking! It makes me so sad and angry that things like this happen in the world. Edit: You mentioned there are a lot of killers in Rochester, I think it would be pretty interesting if you did a video talking about them and the area!
Does this remind anyone of the 1930s Agatha Christie book, The ABC Murders? Fortunately that was fiction, this story is much more disturbing as it's true. Poor young girls, monsters really do exist. Thanks for the upload, you clearly do your reasearch. We appreciate your effort ❤ edit: Hi Bella! 👋👋👋
@@StephanieHarlowe in that book the murderer wanted to kill one person and decided to hide it inside several murders, this is why he killed people with the same initials and in a town that started with that letter, to make it seem like a serial killer. Could it be that the murderer got the idea from this book? This points to carmen's uncle. the way she was killed was more personal, maybe he read the book, saw his niece had the same initials and decided to do the same thing.
Rochester/Syracuse couple here, and damn, it is so much creepier when you know these areas! Didn't know you're also from there, how cool - maybe we'll see you around some day haha. Congrats on another amazing video.
So fun to watch these older videos and see how much you have grown!!! You’ve always been amazing but It’s so much better to watch and listen to you talk more normal now! Your doing amazing these days lady!
Those girls would be in their 50s now, welcoming grandchildren, anticipating retirement. It makes me so sad that they never got to experience a full life
Breaks my heart that Carmen was smart enough and strong enough to escape that car and wave down for help just for nothing to happen and no one to save her.
I had that thought as well..
Yes this was so sad
What is wrong with people?? Why wouldn’t anyone stop??
Poor girl my heart goes out to her and her poor family even though this is an older case I appreciate you shedding light back on it thanks Stephanie
Pamela Bomersback the bystander effect unfortunately. A lot of people are neglected in times of need because of it 😔
So someone that knew Wanda saw her struggle with a big bag of groceries but didn’t bother to get her butt off the bar stool to lend a hand?! Maybe if she did Wanda would still be around.
Yes, it's extremely sad some people don't take the time and effort to stop what they're doing to help other people.
Same thing I was thinking..I would've helped her
I thought the very same thing! The adults in this town didn't seem to want to trouble themselves much when it came to the kids......
Yes, I want to give them all hugs. Its so heart breaking ☹
Ikr 😭💔
Whats wrong with that? I had to run errands all the time as a child. I'm a little confused haha
@@Lostinmyhead23 very good point I didn't look at that aspect of it.
Jennifer Shepherd , What a great theory! This makes so much sense
I have a theory that Carmen was attacked more personally than the other two girls because of how she tried to escape and the killer was more angry with her due to that to where it was more personal and angering .
I was thinking the same thing
That’s believable
All I thought throughout is it's a bit like The ABC Murders by
Agatha Christie. One "true" murder with others to disguise it and the killer.
That makes a lot of sense.
Also why the other two had food in their stomach. To keep them calm and not run.
I really hope that a-hole teacher realizes what she did by keeping a little girl late after class for being the victim of bullying. What the....? I just have no words.
That is why I hated school I and others get in trouble for stand up to bullies and the bully gets away with it. Luckily mine was only verbal bullying.
svolden614 many schools do this.
She may as well wear a coat emblazoned with the words,
"I don't really care, DO YOU"?
@@glitterlover3244 That's because they were just "being boys." Whatever the fuck that means. I had the same issues. As far as bullies go, even if you're getting your ass handed to you and trying to escape you still get in trouble. Such bullshit. I'm so glad school is ancient history. I think half of them are dead now. >:-D

I know right!!!???
Mandi W
Wow!
It's so sad nobody stopped to help that little girl. One person could have made a difference. 😔
Momma Bear yep just ONE! I think that all the time.
if michelle’s mum usually walker her home from school, the only way the murderer wouldve known that shed be walking alone that day was a member of staff in the school. this was no coincidence.
Sahra Heibe that would explain how they had access to their full name and initials. They could be school staff and have access to records
I agree, especially if the murders had to do w their names...how else would 1st and last name be known...and they would think they could trust school staff in those days
Forgive my ignorance, but they didn't attend the same school though did they?
@@dumptruckintruthduke If all schools were in the same county then staff might've been able to access other records within the area
@@dumptruckintruthduke they did not, but they may have attended the same Church...they were all Catholic.
You are very warm and respectful in the way you describe the three children. I imagine if any of their family were watching your channel today they'd appreciate that.
I have to stop listening to this one :-( the amount of absolutely shit parenting is getting to me. All I can think of is my own little daughters going through something so horrific :'-(
yep... the parenting was pretty bad
Serial killers from Rochester should be a series
It seems like there's a lot.
Either someone was inspired by Carmen’s murder to carry out the next two OR the same person knew Carmen but because he was able to get away with it, he committed the second two
Or...they were all three done by the same person
That's literally the plot of Agatha Christie's ABC Murders, except the murder in question was the third, and premeditated.
@Dennis Vaid yes I agree w you
I feel so heartbroken for all these poor girls.
I have a very real hatred for anyone who would hurt a child or an animal. But I'm glad Bella made you smile, she does give me the same reaction!
@@StephanieHarlowe She's such a cute little muffin! Reminds me of my precious nieces when they were babies!

Times have changed!
The last mom was a good mom. Walked with her everyday. This is the one day she let her walk home alone, cause of her needing to stay late.
Astoria Rego you probably live in suburbs. you can’t use that for all places. a lot of places are dangerous and corrupt.
I'm sorry...It was "too much" to get up at night and comfort her? what?! and she escaped the car and waved for help and no one stopped to help a CHILD?! 5 mins and 30 secs in and i am already heartbroken for this child!

Miranda Marie same!! Love this channel ♥️
Cristina Arce yes! I’m a huge Christie fan and immediately thought of The A.B.C Murders when I first heard of this case.
A lot of people in the comments believe it could have been a staff member at the school... Now this makes me wonder if an English teacher or librarian would have been involved.
Yes, I was immeiately reminded of the book too. The murders were all used to cover up one murder that was done by a person close by, so even that would possibly fit!
Yes big Christie fan. In the book he was following the alphabet. Which makes me think was there previous/more murders? Such a good book.
Drinking game= take a shot every time she says “it was a different time” to seem a bit less judgemental about their clearly terrible parenting
Indeed. Terrible parenting in any era is simply terrible parenting.
It was a different time tho and that’s just what people did without it being bad parenting everyone did it
But we don't have such tribes, now do we?
Did anyone else love the fact that the dog was in the background walking around/ chillin
My family is from Rochester. My mom was young at the time, living in Rochester and her initials are AA so people would tell her that “she was next” and it freaked her out. She would tell me this story and I thought it was so weird that people would say she was next like wtf.
how fucked up it is the things adults say to children to scared them or for them to behave well.
“Dried tears on her cheeks” killed me 😭
Having been born in 1954 and raised during the 60's and early 70's I still have a few observations here which are unpleasant at best..

Look into the murder of 12-year-old Brad Bellino in Ohio in the early 70s.

This is so heart breaking.. Those poor babies had so much in common in terms of vulnerability because of neglect or bullying and general lack of care with the first little ones.

After watching some of these videos,I'm starting to rethink allowing my teens to walk my 11 year old to martial arts two blocks away
I wonder how the killer knew they had twin initials?? Where there other potential victims that weren't atta ked because they didn't match the pattern he wanted? Or did he get school records, etc and stalk certain girls until they were alone? It seems too odd to be a coincidence.
The Pregnant Doula . Joei Gowing most likely checked them out beforehand, watched them
Great story, my father was retired NYPD and I am a proud native NYer..vaguely remember hearing about this case, as I was a little girl in the late 70's..Very sad..either the suspect moved, went to prison or died. Unfortunately these sick people do not stop unless they have too. On a completely different topic, Your little munchkin is too cute!!
Thank you so much! How was it having a cop for a father?
Last video I watched: “I live in upstate New York, but I’m not going to say exactly where”
This video: “I live in Rochester, it sucks”
No shade, just found the timing funny.
ErinM thanks! I was a Psych major in college and found myself drawn to the abnormal aspect of it, which brought me to cognitive and forensic psych.
Ha, I thought the exact same thing 😂
Your line CWM "come with me" put chills down my spine. It scared the cap out of me. It takes a lot to scare me but yep.....that did it.
The ‘Come with me” literally gave me chills, dear god
I thought my headphones were broken hallelujah 😂
Wouldn't the killer have had to have known their names to put initials together? So sad.
maybe not personally, but someone that has access to that information, like at school, local library...? its very specific information
I must tell you girl, you have a very charming way that you can spin a tale. Your very interesting really, and your eyes express an honest empathic sincerity. Your very good at what you do. Keep up the good work.
Good thing my glasses magnify my eyes so much so you can see it! 😂
your voice is so gentle and your compassion for the victims while still remaining professionally neutral when presenting the details of the case is so refreshing to hear!
Glad I came across your channel you do a great job covering these cases and have such a soothing voice. I luckily found you through a comment you left on another youtubers video and some reason decided to click on you😅🖤
Thank you, Paige! I'm so glad you're here! Who was the other RUclipsr?
I saw this documentary... CRAZY!!!
@@StephanieHarlowe and you've done the story right. I know I've watched it
@@Emy-Emz dcf is a corrupt organization so I wouldn't be surprised
Stephanie, I just want to thank you for your dedication to the cases you present to us every week. I think you have a beautiful heart and are just as emotionally involved as the very investigators assigned to these particular cases. Again, thank you and God Bless you and your family! 👼
Wow it feels like you upload every day, not that I'm complaining, I love your videos.
I wish I could upload every day, but it's usually only twice a week. If I didn't have to work I WOULD do a video every day, although that would be impossible because of the research these cases take, lol.
Stephanie Harlowe
May I ask what you do as a day job? Just curious? Thx.....
So glad you kept that sweet clip of your daughter at the end! These cases can be so emotionally draining to listen to and she made me smile!
The adults around these kids absolutely failed them. I'd never heard of this. So sad.
I would've stopped to help Carmen. This is so heartbreaking.
Living for your tc videos Stephanie, tysm for your research and hard work.
Thank you so much!!
I’m so scared of having kids. I don’t know what I would do if I lost my child, especially in such a violent manner. I hope they rest in peace 💗
Cam Mirror “being a parent means you live the rest of your life with your heart walking around outside your body”
My advice is just don't have children... It's like wearing your heart outside of your chest at all times
It’s probably so worth it because they give you so much happiness
11:42 I realize it was a different time but it breaks my heart that a little girl was carrying all those groceries on her own.
I think also that Carmen was killed by his stepdad (or was it uncle?) and the other two by somebody else, the firefighter is pretty suspicious because of the cat hair and i believe that those girls would have trusted a man in a uniform much easier.. Heart breaking case anyway and so unfair that it has not been solved 😔💔
But I am so glad i found yours channel!! Few days ago subscribed and have been watchinng your videos sence!
And sry, english is not my first language so.... 😅 greetings from Finland 🇫🇮😘
Yes and the murder looked at Carmen's case that happened first and thought to do the name thing as well.
I wonder why they didn't run his DNA
I'm so happy there's a new video from you. Honestly, you're so good at storytelling and it's such a pleasure to see your subs number keep growing. You're doing amazing, sweetie! 😘❤😘
ETA: Awww... your daughter is so precious! I hope she'll feel better soon.
Thanks, Taty!! I got her sick, so I feel guilty. Last night was slightly better than the night before, but not much... lol
He could've got a cat after the murders
I agree, these evil should be dumped into their own personal hell, whatever would be hell for them that's where they should be left to rot, so they never have peace
I agree, these evil should be dumped into their own personal hell, whatever would be hell for them that's where they should be left to rot, so they never have peace
Grandma P I think they are linked
I know I’m commenting on an older video but i just found you on RUclips recently and have been binge watching your videos and I have to tell you how much I love you and your videos. You have become one of my favorites in just 2 weeks. You can see your passion for what you do and how attached and compassionate you are to each victim or their families you talk about. Can’t wait to watch more and I’m so glad i found your channel
Your voice is so lovely and calming! This video was so well done and informative. I'd never heard of this case and it's so sad.
Thank you, Suzi!
Keep it up!
Thank you!! Lol. Yeah I pivoted 😘
People wonder why I am a hover parent. This is why!
Allison Carroll you for real? There’s a new mass shooting every other day.
Helicopter parenting is what we call it in Kenya
Steph...seeing you as a Mom there warmed my heart! I know I’m a year late but she’s so cute bless her! ☺️
I can only hear in the left ear unless I giggle my ear phones but I don’t care cause I’m here for these videos 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Also I’m confused about her uncle, he was married to her mom , yet he has the same last name ? Was there incest going on? Lol maybe I missed something. Great video, hopefully this case gets solved someday!
He was her fathers brother, so he had the same last name as her. He and Carmen's mother didn't ever legally get married, but in NY if you live with someone for long enough you become their common wealth spouse, so legally you are viewed as their husband or wife.
Ohhh thanks for clearing that up for me lol! I look forward to more of your videos!
i think it was more, this is the first murder and she was a fighter.
he could be strangling them as he is raping them. some men have that kink.
when it comes to serial murders their first kill is sloppy, then as they kill they get more cleaner.
Azazura Azura yess and the time in between murders gets shorter too
Stephanie - thank you for sharing your darling & adorable daughter with your fans!
Can i just say, I've been waiting ALL weekend for a new video from you! I'll be watching in just a bit, but wanted to comment my excitement! 😂
I'm the same. I anxiously await these!😃
That "Come with me" theory sent shivers down my spine and I'm really not that sensitive at all.
This is so heartbreaking! It makes me so sad and angry that things like this happen in the world.
Edit: You mentioned there are a lot of killers in Rochester, I think it would be pretty interesting if you did a video talking about them and the area!
Humans are truly horrible to each other. I cant imagine seeing a child running half naked while a man is chasing her and not immediately stopping
Very true! I didn't even make the connection... creepy..
You did a fantastic job on this!
Thank you!!
So fun to watch these older videos and see how much you have grown!!! You’ve always been amazing but It’s so much better to watch and listen to you talk more normal now! Your doing amazing these days lady!
Those girls would be in their 50s now, welcoming grandchildren, anticipating retirement. It makes me so sad that they never got to experience a full life
Seeing you just being a mama with your daughter at the end 💕 from one work-at-home mama to another, you are doing an amazing job
