He has huge respect for and knowledge of the music and its past players.. wow..
Magnificent playing and what a tone. That guitar (and your fingers) absolutely ooze a time to die for.
That Tele has all the tones you want from the guitar and more. What an absolutely exceptional axe. Great playing as always from Josh of course
This is why Josh is a guitar players guitar player. To build such a lovely detailed tribute to such a brilliant original pioneer of guitar. Just cool brother well done.
Great guitar, great player.
Thank you, Josh. Nice ✊🏻✊🏿
Very cool guitar. I think the secondary control plate is from the early 50's P Bass sometimes referred to as the Telecaster bass.
What a gem of a guitar! And man you are a talent. Thank you, friend.
Thanks Josh for sharing your talent and teachings. That "Rainy Night in Georgia" lick, and tone, sent shivers up my spine... Oh yes :) :) :)
Those pickups sound incredible!
that was absolutely awesome.
loved every aspect of this video.
Saw Cornell Dupre playing with King Curtis in Toronto, 1969 at LeCoq d’or which was owned by Ronnie Hawkins.
I remember grumbling about the fact that Jimi Hendrix had left the band 2 or 3 years earlier. Young and foolish I was! Cornell was a very bright, melodic player behind Curtis’s sax.
My father in law's old stomping grounds. Yonge Street was a wild place back then from the sounds of it. Cheers
Simply gorgeous playing and tone, Josh!
man that tele looks crazy but the tones are just gorgeous!
Josh, That Scero made Tele sounds fantastic !
Wonderful tones!! Awesome guitar and playing Josh👊
Beautiful. And such an encyclopaedia of great licks!
Boy, I love this tone...just great.
Beautiful looking and sounding guitar in the hands of a mighty player.
Now I want one too! just gorgeous tones and playing that my nerve damaged hands would never be worthy of.
Man I want that guitar!! Telecasters just sound good with any genre!
Reminds me of the telecaster Mike Oldfield used to record Tubular Bells. A 1966 guitar it previously belonged to Marc Bolan (they shared a manager) and he added a Bill Lawrence De Armond style pickup in the middle and a toggle switch similar to Josh's.
Excellent video. Guitar is awesome and you absolutely are in control. Thanks for sharing.
This has gotta be one of the best videos on RUclips, period. Amazing guitar, absolutely top-notch playing, I love everything about this. You've got yourself a unicorn there; you're a very lucky guy. Already thinking about how I can copy you. Ha!
If you want to see Cornell play the original check out his band Stuff covering Signed, Sealed, Delivered at the 1976 Montreux Jazz Fest. It's brilliant ruclips.net/video/7V-DguG1RiI/видео.html Cornell was the bees knees
Man, you just speak in plain English and everyone understands. Thanks for the info on the sweet tele.
i just love hearing josh playing PERIOD.. THX MAN
Great sound and idea and playing !
Great explanation of such a cool axe. Thanks so much!!!
This is fantastic man!
Just awesome!!
Josh always shreds!
Great sounds, really great playing.
What a great player. 🙏
Fantastic,,makes me want to keep learning keep playing....
Diggin this series with Josh! Would love to be at Flat Five!
I'm liking it Josh. Sounds great.
Awesome guitar, played beautifully!
I love the bird sticker too and all the sounds were amazing!
That sure is a sweet sounding instrument. You do it great justice.
so rad
Great tones and playing
Awesome guitar!!
That thing will haunt me in my dreams!
Very cool!!
Great..I'll copy that set up!!thanx
That thing sounds fantastic
Real nice skills!!!
wonderful!!!! 👌🏼
I want this tele ❤❤❤
Like the bird decal!
So dang cool.
Nice. It gives me some ideas for some projects. One will be a bass.
Thanx !
Man I love that first guitar. I did something different once using a rotary switch with 4 pole 6 throw and a Seymour Duncan prails. I had T neck, T middle, T bridge, Prails 90, Prails rail, Prails both.
Was really cool fun.
I'm trying to wrap my brain around how to wire up a guitar like this. Any chance you have any insight?
Nice!
One of the finest Guitar Player the USA has to offer!
Outstanding tone & chops. that hybrid picking is the trick....i simply cannot do it.
Yeah Baby!
The nicest sounding tele ever
Awesome as alwaya
good stuff 😉
Awesome playing as usual and go Clippers
You play beautifully 🕴
@joshsmith @ronellis what model neck and bridge pickups are in there? They sound amazing!
Best sounding Nashville mod ever! How did you manage to keep all the PUs in phase?
Great video. Do you have the wiring diagram for the guitar?? I'd like to try it on one of my teles.
I was just buildin up some teles , classic , nashville type & p-90 at neck , same old stuff . now it seems that I'm really missing something , at least I gotta try a p-90 in the middle , where they sound best anyway , at the neck always struck me a convenient but kinda 2nd best
Bad ass!
So....is it possible you could sell a copy? This is special. I'd be interested.
2:50 reminds me of gilmour’s playing on Time
I am not a Tele fan at all, but damn this guitar sounded good! Right on, Josh!
Teles, for me, is like a love-hate history, but this tele sounds very good!!
@@Soulmanbsr I know exactly what you mean. Back in 1990, I purchased a 1952 Fender Custom Shop Telecaster. To be honest, I loved the feel and look of that guitar, but the sound was a bit too bright for my taste. It was absolutely fabulous for playing blues, but it was regrettably weak when it came to other genres. Sadly, that guitar was stolen three years later, and I never owned another Tele. My favorite Fender at the moment is the Jazzmaster.
I was skeptical as fuck when I saw the picture...when I heard you add the d'armond I was wrong as fuck...sounds great
Josh do you prefer maple or rosewood neck?
What’s the song he plays at 3:20 ?
Can Scero make me some fingers that work like yours?
Josh. There are a couple of videos of you playing Ronin guitars. Do you own one? If so it would be could to hear it again.
Alllright a Clippers hat! Way to represent
Monster player
Neck pickup sounded like a gretch,oh that bridge pickup god dam
What kind of amp?
That's an old Fender P bass control plate just for the record 👍
It looks great.
Squier 51 guitar control plate
@@luxxeproductsinternational3891 which uses the 51 RI bass plate, well now it's a CV 50's pbass base plate. Try saying that three times fast 😂 but thats there the 51 squire came from that mashup of a 51 p bass and a strat
goddam that's great & u can PLAY
Squier 51 control plate 😮
Well... I need another tele now
Hear me out: Josh Smith and John 5 collab.
Soul rnb rhythm by Josh and chicken picking lead by John, hmmm sounds like a tasty ingredient for a song. Agreed.
4:23 not sure why... don't like it when decals are put on so they're upright while playing... seems like the natural position is the decal is upright when the guitar is on a stand or hanging.
anyone know the name of the song he plays at 3:17 ?
@Thomas Farrell Thanks!
You can really hear the wood!
If you have to pick one of this TELECASTER it would be "SHS" or "SSH" ? And why ?
Killer....
👍🏼 the guitar, 👍🏼the guitar picking and... the video needs a thumbs up too but damn I’m out of thumbs!
Ahh. Thanksgiving!
Go Clippers!
Thumb tacks look silly
nothing about the bird ?
Damn! Josh has done his 10,000 hours and then some. Ruling!
I’m sure Josh’s favorite is his Chapin
Who is Josh Smith? Never heard of him..
That is not a telecaster.
may you elaborate?
