    Great video. Linen is effortless 😅 - I know what you mean - but it can also be quite demanding 😅: apart for ironing, it’s very hard to pull off for someone who doesn’t have a natural style essence. It can easily look frumpy. I like linen, but it gives me a had time when styling, because if I pair it with items as you suggested (agree mostly), the outfit will be leaning far too natural for me to look my best. I have to add something completely different/opposing in feel for the outfit to work like a fancy top or glitter shoes ( or whatever comes to mind) to create juxtaposition and add a different vibe to the overall outfit.

      I see what you mean! I think finding the right cut and weight of the fabric would play a bigger role here in this case. ☺️ I never met you in real life but by seeing your beautiful photos and videos, I believe this contrast you meant would be great indeed. To make the outfit look more stylish and put together, not frumpy (like you mentioned) it would be better to wear a heavier linen, not so flowy and thin. Something with linking perhaps , and a nice structured waistband with belt hoops? I think a cropped style would suit you best too! I demonstrated with these pants because they’re the ones I own and work for me :)
      As for the tops, I personally wouldn’t pair them with something like glitter, a super shiny fabric, or lots of details. To create this contrast you mean, I think finding a top with a good texture, pattern, an interesting cut (not basic), perhaps a silk top too that naturally feels more luxurious…this would balance the outfit more for you. I’m sure you would nail this, you know your body, style and essence very well! ❤️ I’ll pin your comment since I’m sure others may experience the same!

      Thank you 🤩. … just to add: I think one option is to choose linen trousers in a classic colour like black, navy or pure white to reduce the “casual vibe” and opt for a classic tailored trousers style (as you said). I also found simple tops in a more structured fabric helpful, for example cotton eyelet, broderie anglaise or a guipure lace (short-sleeved, sleeveless - so it’s not overwhelming). Another option might be to ho gor linen-blends with cotton which adds more structure to the trousers and less creasing or a blend with silk/tencel (or viscose for affordability) that would keep or even increase the drape of the trousers adding a bit more elegance. ❤

      @@petitekatilinI also find pairing a slightly embellished cotton shirt (like with a bit of crochet or eyelet) with linen pants works great!

    Totally agree on everything! (Maybe except stilettos, I dont personally like it with linen). My favourite combo is: linen pants + matching top + espadrilles / sandals + raffia bag ❤

      @milainnewyork  29 дней назад +1

      That’s a great combo! I looove a matching set too 🤎 they’re so easy and effortless! The stilettos are definitely a NO! Haha I meant I’d be ok with a kitten heel sling back, but definitely not the high heels. They look so off 🥲

    Hi Mila! Looking forward to your linen video. Today I wore khaki linen trousers with a simple white cotton t-shirt and my white Superga sneakers. Beautifully cool and comfy like pajamas 😊

    I love linen jersey (knit linen) for summer. It has the coolness and casualness of linen, but is so much more comfy than woven linen and it doesn’t need ironing. H&M always has a few linen jersey items, but I don’t much like their current offerings this summer. I found better-quality, but naturally more expensive, versions at Wrap London, Poetry and Banana Republic. After silk jersey, linen jersey is my favorite fabric, there is nothing as comfy as a knit in a natural fiber! BR has a linen jersey “resort shirt” in a variety of colors that work with linen pants, skirts and shorts, I just ordered several colors. Caslon at Nordstrom has casual linen/rayon blend blazers in patterns that look great with linen separates too. (I have been doing my summer shopping today).

    One of the things this video underscores is that linen wrinkles. I used to use stay sizing on mine to get rid of the wrinkles. Nowadays, many clothes come in linen blends that don't wrinkle as much. You should remember to hang up anything that is linen as soon as you take it off. Before I put it back on I go over it with an iron and stay sizing.

      Hi Susan! Thanks so much for sharing this! I chose not to add any info on types of fabrics, weight, cut, lining or maintenance because the video is focused on styling linen trousers ☺️ It’s just a short video to share some ideas on how to pair them with tops, layers (if you need), shoes and other accessories. I personally don’t mind the wrinkles, but that’s for a casual outfit, which honestly is what I wear the most during the summer. Thank you for sharing these tips, hanging them right away helps a lot for sure. I used to iron all my linen pieces before wearing them, but now I only use a steamer and it’s soooo much easier

    Hi Mila, I love your content. This video was very helpful as I have this same madewell set and struggle a little to style the pants without the top. Especially because they have a lot more volume and less structure than the pants I normally wear. Are you able to share the size you ordered in the madewell pants and top? I use your videos a lot for fit reference as I believe we are similar in size.

    Thanks for this video ! I am going to try linen pants this summer; do you recommend only 100% linen or is a blend of cotton and linen also as breathable ? I have a dress from Sezane which is half linen and half viscose and find it quite hot. Thanks !

    Really liked this video, Mila, and agree pretty much on everything! The only thing I would add, since I live in a country that is quite chilly even in summer, I would add as a third piece Sonnie or Betty - is it looking funny? I need some kind of a jacket and they don't look that 'heavy'... What do you think or would recommend instead? Obrigada 😊

    The stuff looks great on you Mila. But the day will not come where I wear linen. I do not work on the beach and I hate to arrive at the airport and have wrinkles everywhere. By the time I arrive at a customer I would look like I picked my cloth from the trash can. Sorry!
