Orville C. Wright, Jr. This is my first hearing of Sviatoslav Richter performing Brahms Op. 119. As with many of Richter's incredible performances, superlatives elude my attempts to describe how much I like this music and appreciate the post. Thank you.
I would suggest listening to the performances of Op. 119 by Radu Lupu and Murray Perahia, both available on RUclips. They are certainly the equal of Sviatoslav Richter's performance and each offers unique insights into these wonderful late pieces. IMHO, Richter's pace in No 4 (Rhapsody in E-flat minor) is much to fast and hurried. By comparison, Radu Lupu plays this at a less frenzied pace with a greater sense of drama and mystery. Nevertheless, too much of a good thing is never enough. 😊
" --- А. С. ПУШКИН.
Cough away, today people have cell phones that ring away merrily throughout the performances. Three times recently by Sokolov in Berlin during the first twenty minutes, ditto a couple of weeks later at Volodos. He nearly got up and walked out.
beautiful performance even though someone is dying

Словно прикоснулся к чистому источнику, катарсис!!!! Спасибо за публикацию концертов великого С. Рихтера!
Questa esecuzione è un miracolo
Richter è straordinario.
Interpretazione e sonorità uniche.
Good Lord, the caughing! Still a great performance.
Just studying them right now. This is probably the best version i've heard
Incredible playing. A deeper insight in Brahms' s soul is hardly possible.

Msgnificient! Great!
I think I like these performances over those of Lupu and maybe Katchen.
O my good, this is soooo good!
I don't hear any cougher - too absorbed by the music. ;)

consternation6 Exactly the same thing happened when Sokolov played in the Philharmonie in Berlin this year!
If you’ve got a cold, don’t go to a public concert! What’s the matter with these people?
they used to smoke... coughing was part of the game.
Very good and schumannesk.
Какой редкий снимок!
This works made Brams a modern music, a Schoenberg predeccesor
esp #3, the most Schubertian piece in Brahms's entire oeuvre
I hope the rest of the audience didn't catch the plague.
The E-flat Rhapsody is played like he is late for dinner. Virtuosic, no doubt, but....
god dam brahms i good
they really should hand out cough medicine at these recitals!
That audience member is lucky Bugs Bunny wasn't the pianist.
Although, Richter is a slightly better pianist than Bugs.
i cant do it . i am a cat i have nine lifes
Glen Gould plays this like a thought and not sooo studied like a good student.
Too noisy.
