As a kid, I believe this movie is what got me into superheroes. A true classic.
You know this movie wasn't all that great but that vortex scene is still memorable. I am convinced someone on the writing team wrote that scene really earlier and made it clear to the effects team they wanted it done well. Because if you just take that part of him stuck in the vortex using his concussive powers to try and escape you would think it was from a real superhero movie.
Whenever I think if the movie I think of this scene. Rest of the movie seems pretty lackluster and corny
It was a real superhero movie, the comedic elements don't change that and considering Conner murdered most of his teammates it's as dead serious as any other superhero movie.

For the age of this movie the effects are pretty good, the vortex was clean and the eye change was nice. Some were janky but it was 2006

Dead Man’s chest came out in 2006, it has come of the best cgi effects ever produced, 2006 was peak films today are arguably worse

The movie itself is okay, but damn, that "must save Connor" line.. Tim Allen might not be the world's greatest actor, but even he should have been well able to do better than that. Such a cringey and poorly read line.

As with Fan4stic, the villain escaped from another dimension. Concussion appears to when he's defeated in 7 1/2 minutes, half of when Doctor Doom appears in Fan4stic to when he's defeated. The fight scene lasts only nearly two minutes and was poorly made.
But this movie doesn't have the s-tty portal in the sky cliche that Hollywood has been banking on.
