- Have oil leaks on the drive way or on the streets and it's on the passenger side only? Most likely it's due to a leaky vtec solenoid. In this video we will be servicing the vtech solenoid with new gaskets and new o ring for the oil pressure switch.
Tools needed
1- floor jack
2- cross bar (take off wheel)
3- 12 mm socket w/ratchet & extension
4- flathead screw driver
5- brake cleaner or electrical/throttle body cleaner
6- rags/gloves

Thank you very much for your help and for your video.
You welcome! Thanks for watching.
the awesome video absolutely appreciate and thank you for the info. How do you open the switch connection on the top
It's kind of hard but to have to get both hands up there with one squeezing the 2 sides and the other pulling it down.
Thank you for the video. I noticed my first leak ever on my engine at 240k miles and it seems to be this. How fast was your leak? I do 5k intervals and have no noticeable loss.. just wondering if this fix can wait til it's next oil change in 5k miles
Before it was only 5k miles like yours. Then it was at 3k miles.
Just what i needed to be able to watatatatata
Will doing this job fix my low oil pressure light blinking rapidly once every thing else seem to be fine??
I would get the car scanned first to see if anything shows up before assuming anything else.
@@BayViewz the only two 3 codes two codes I have is heated o2 sensor malfunction and manufacture code for throttle body none of those are related to the oil pressure I have no codes for that whatsoever which is throwing me off
Is there ever a reason to replace that whole soloenoid? Or just replace the gasket/o-ring?
Also when doing this youve gotta have the oil drained right
If your vtec solenoid is still engaging then just changing the gasket/o-ring is the way to go and is much cheaper than replacing the whole solenoid. But if your vtec is not engaging then it's easier but much expensive to buy the whole unit that comes with the gasket/o-ring. Yes you better off doing an oil change since you do have to take out the oil filter. Hope this helps!
How much oil comes out of there if you remove this housing? Mine isn’t leaking but I don’t think my vtec is coming on and I have a type s 6 speed so I verified and I have the j35A8 block and the heads are correct.
The same amount comes out as if you're doing an oil change. So I recommend doing this when you need to change your oil.
@@BayViewz thanks for that info and the reply so I don’t have a leak there it’s dry but I think the type s doesn’t have a loud vtec crossover so everything might be working buts it’s just not noticeable
What symptoms did the car have?
@JuanCarloscastillo-j6s I noticed oil drips from that exact location. Other than that no check engine light, codes or performance issues.
It’s necessary to remove all the oil first?
Not necessarily! Just have some extra oil just in case.
how do you get the plug for the vtec solenoid unplugged, i tried this before an oil change and failed to unplug it
I unhooked all the bolts for the solenoid and it gave me plenty of room to unplug it.
@@BayViewz thank you so much. i owe you baked goods
What size is the oil pressure 0 ring
I don't know the exact size but the part number is in tbe description box.
@@BayViewz appreciate the response bro 💯
@@GuzmanJornan you welcome!!!
Can't even see what your doing
how to unplug the connector ruclips.net/video/WkfRQHym3qU/видео.htmlsi=eeqid1NQJcjP2ejO&t=482
The way I did it in the video I took out all of the bolts that's holding the vtech solenoid making the connector more loose and longer allowing me to use both of my hands to unplug it. Hope this helps!
Disconnect the battery first?
You don't have to disconnect the battery.
