It’s 2029, England are entering the last phase of their preparations for the RWC in Saudi Arabia, having just lost a close contest with The Isle of White. England coach, Lord EddieJones, congratulates scrum half Ben Youngs in his 350th cap and says he’s looking forward to the challenges ahead

Eddie helped my team the boks win two RWChamps - so I am forever grateful to him. If you want to win the world cup you need to be on point and made of steel, full stop, can't fault him for being direct or difficult.

Just a bit of information about Eddie that you don’t know. That free running game he learned from Geoff Mould, coach of Matraville High school not Dwyer. The really interesting part is that Geoff was a Western Australian baseball player before taking up rugby at Randwick relatively late in his sporting life.

I was a big fan of Eddie Jones and was over the moon when the RFU finally woke up. I dont know whats happened with him over the past 4 years but I think hes just lost interest. The RFU or what passes for the RFU should have ditched him 3 years ago but in their own inimitable style they did nothing and now we are less than a year out from another RWC and it is too late. So that is essentially another 8 years wasted.

The great test of leadership: how you treat the people you are responsible for. This idea of belittling/firing his players/staff shows a lack of foresight. Not what you wish to see in a leader. Good luck England, I hope you find a better coach after next year’s inevitable colapse under a coach who only cares about himself.

I don’t know why England fans put up with him but it’s fascinating witnessing it all fall apart. The English media are also incredibly weak in how they let him push them around.

So right. He reminds me a bit of how the yanks put up with that buffoon Trump. They are not all that thick, so why tolerate his bufoonery and obvious relatively low intellect. Just because he pouts and says he knows what he is doing, it doesn't make it so. England deserve better but you chose him.

He has had 17 assistant coaches in 10 years. That should tell you everything. He is difficult to work with and it's now having a detrimental effect on the pitch as England need input from a good coaching team.

One has to question, outside the Brimbies, what has Eddie delivered on the international stage? He joined the SA team just before the 2007 as one of the assistant coaches, so technically not won the world cup as a coach... I find it baffling he is regarded so highly but delivered such little success..

He’s to stubborn these days and seems desperate to make the kicking game work for his own benefit, he seems to love yes men and hates anyone who challenges him which is wrong, I get he’s the head coach but you can’t be a dictator, he needs to start picking players who are performing in the prem instead of his same old favourites, I hope he turns it round by the World Cup but if we win it or not England definitely need to go a different direction from Jones

  • @joshsmith3598

To say that test series win in Oz was mightily impressive? Is a real stretch. Aussies were missing bunch of players and in 3rd test dropped at least two surefire tries. It took a bad pass and a lucky bounce right into Marcus Smith's arm to prevail. Jones is obstinate and once his plan A is stopped, his team looks lost.
