Thanks for visiting us Kyle, it was nice meeting you at the Tesla event this weekend. I’m happy you enjoyed our Super Cooper EV, we are looking forward to building yours! Ps, the next build will be running the same Toyo R888R 13” tires that were on the red car, and will handle the traction much better!
Great review. Had two classic Minis in the 80’s and we’re great fun to drive, even with ICE. Took the Mini plant tour in Cowley, Oxford which includes the Mini museum. 🇬🇧
This is truly an amazing build. As someone who has owned one of these in Vtech form I can fully relate to the excitement and fun you shared in the video. It makes me really miss my Vtech Mini. I would love to do this to a Mini Pickup some day.
I've got a 1963 Traveller and have considered an EV swap. With the longer wheel base and the extra space in the back for batteries, it seems like the perfect swap! Love your videos Kyle!
So, sooo cool! Love this so much... I've had friends with the V-TEC powered classic MINIs and they were a crazy handful, but also a bit of a crazy fitted package. This looks just so well done.
Thank you guys for this fun video, I have just rerun it to show my Good lady this electric marvel. Her comment finally an electric car she would like to own. Her second car in the late seventies had been a Blue Mini, she soon discovered that with front wheel drive and gears you can go around corners much faster. Her dear Mother to the day she passed complained about the lump on her head that she got when Sue flew the car over the railway tracks in town and she hit the roof literally. It was fifty to sixty MPH everywhere till the day it died. Let me see, a Septuagenarian driver and 300HP what could possibly go wrong.............................Ouch! she read that.
I like how were at the point technologically where full size electric cars are basically the same as remote control cars performance wise scale for scale.
A great little car and what most drivers want from an EV. Get the range up past 200 miles and add fast changing, that would make this little car perfect, apart from the price.
No. It’s a fun toy which is two compromised systems added together to make a bigger compromise. Let it be the insane bonkers fun toy it needs to be. Nobody is commuting in an Arial Atom. Nobody is touring across the country on a Honda CB250
@@theairstig9164 I disagree, the Mini was designed to be cheap transport for the masses and a fun little car. Over 60 years later and that still holds true. Not everyone has room for multiple cars so why make them choose between a fun car or a practical car when this is so close to doing both, just by getting a little more range and adding fast charging. Plus at the same cost as buying a house it should be perfect.
Great video i love it ! i'm from Belgium and my dream will be to convert my mini R50 from 2001 in electric . But with all the EU regulations and price to convert it make no cense for the cost !
Agree with you that some old cars have terrible engines. This applies to many post war European cars that looked great but they only updated engines designed pre war due to costs. A Tesla powered Citroën DS would be amazing or the Citroën SM which had a butchered Maserati engine. similarly. You would probably enjoy a trip to Wales to see "Electric Classic Cars" who have converted Porche 912 the 4 Cylinder version and Ferrari Teslarossa to make it usable for touring.
The car looks amazing and obviously goes like hell. $120,000.00 is definitely a lot of money considering what it doesn’t have in my opinion. You can buy other cars that are electric and not spend that much money. This car is for the very rich who can buy what they want because they can.
If there’s one EV that needs fake engine noise it’s that electric Mini, even if it’s the awful can of nails being shaken noise the original had, it’s too much fun to be silent except for wheelspin! I have the current Mini Cooper S E and it’s so much fun on local back roads and in Sport mode scares the living daylights out if the young guts in their battered old M3 look-s-like 318 D’s and the Fiesta STi boys as it blasts past them when overtaking.
Tesla motor in that thing is a huge mistake. Better off with a Lucid power train. Even better 4x50kw axial flux YASA motors, inboard with inboard discs. Carbon fibre body on titanium tubular frame with adjustable coil overs, double wishbone all round. Should come in under £40 000.
Can get a twin gas tank cooper s for a quarter of that figure in uk. Remember you are the crumple zone. Tesla ruined the lotus with their version and most had new packs and are useless iand too heavy and like the lotus the mini was power to weight and adding power and weight of batteries ruins handling like tesla roadster did to the lotus. Buy a originoal cooper s for summer days out and a nice daily car for the 90k you have ledt after buying cooper s. These cars are toys 31kwh useless and wasnt designed for weight and power and pointless. Fun but at 120k for a few pulls absolutely pointless and you smiled as much in gas version.

“I’m running out of adjectives and superlatives…”
What a hoot, and in my favorite part of California! You are living the dream, Kyle!
I would love to see more EV conversion content in your channel Kyle. In my opinion, the market for EV conversions is untapped.
I've been thinking about opening a business doing just that - it seems like there is a huge market for it, especially for older cars and classics.
Passenger looks like “what did I get myself into.” Kyle looks like he’s having the best day of his life:))) love it!!!!
Haha fr
omg that car is so cuteee lol. Love this idea making old vehicles into electric vehicles!
Kyle whipping that mini like me whipping my ford focus hatchback se💀🤣
Wow Kyle I’ve never seen you smile so much looks so fun
Never wanted something more in my entire life!!!
This is what we need more of!!
@ElectricClassicCars has done a lot of great ev conversions, looking forward to their future project videos. (Hopefully a Rover SD1 makes it one day)
Would make a decent video or two for Kyle if he ever visited them

Nice trip to Wales!!
I love minis! This conversion is a gem.
If I was a millionaire I would 100% get one of these. 😍

You just can't beat the Golden, rolling hills of California!
The cutest-face mini was the original Austin Seven, in 1959, although the Morris Mini was the same apart from the grille and badge..
So, sooo cool! Love this so much... I've had friends with the V-TEC powered classic MINIs and they were a crazy handful, but also a bit of a crazy fitted package. This looks just so well done.
I had an 848cc 1972 mini pickup in exactly that colour as my first car!
12:47 what happens if you hit it into reverse when youre driving or hit it with your leg? Does it prevent you from doing that?
That's a super ride, thanks guys. I wish I had my Dad's MGA (and the bucks) to convert to electric. Cheers.
I used to have the Mini Scalextric set back when I was a kid, in the 70s. I’d want one of these designed to match one of those old cars.
Owned 2 original Minis in my life. Very fun cars to drive. Had a 1989 Mini Thirty and a 1993 Mini Cooper S. Corners, what corners?
What an awesome looking car. And great fun too boot!

Great work team you basically created a ev Italian job
The best car...ever!

Boy, did they make a mistake allowing you to drive it.
Not at all. I’m considering selling some RIVN stock and buying one!

Changing classic interiors should be a sin, which is why I don't like most hot rods. And that's why I love the work of Electric Classic Cars.
Get out of the Stone Age Grandpa
The house you're in front of in the beginning of the video looks like one of the houses in the movie Hard to Kill with Steven Segal. 🤣
Sweet!! I love the @electricclassiccars YT channel!

Would be a hilarious to use it as a sleeper.
Wow that’s cool, I would like a similar concept but a 2300lb 80 mile range no options car with 140hp and a sub 20k price tag.
Imagine tripping back to those 60s racing films you see with that.
However I can't see your Mom in that for a daily driver haha

Great video 😂 need some Martian wheels 11 inch
Inflation must be crazy in the States if you have to fork over $ 120.000 for a electrified Mini.
Half that here in Europe.
This is a Ticket maker! :)
nice ty Kyle
In the video it sounds turbine power with all that motor whine.
Awesome!
i would love to see these minis be done with 13" hub motors ,20hp per wheel, 4 wheel drive mini
Simple Great!
Just wish these conversions were cheaper. Wife has a 2004 cooper and she'd love to EV it.
This is that price because of the custom work they did. The conversion kit from ECC is no way near the $100+ price tag.
this is like this mission impossible 7 yellow car lmao
I was waiting for a 'Give it the full beans' with the Mr. Bean theme firing up. Missed opportunity for a copyright strike!
Looks like where they used to film Dukes of Hazard car chases
compare the driving experience of the 300 hp EV mini to the 500 hp ICE mini
Nice! But that little Mini could have performed even better with two 5'4" guys rather than two over 6ft guys!
I don't know about this video I guess it's cool but where's the race to Vegas part 2??????
100k car with no AC. Not necessary. It's only hot 5-12 months out of the year in the contiguous US.😂
Reminds me of the car mr bean drive 😂
What about out of spec motoring and that red bull ran you were doing
Did Kyle make it a little over 20 minutes without saying "Epic"? 😁😅😂
Full size Tamiya
There's a real full-size Tamiya that Top Gear featured a bit ago: ruclips.net/video/cVzXftovrEI/видео.html
In true Tesla fashion, not enough tire or suspension for the power.
Does it have a clutch? If yes, then maybe someday. If no, then it's not the car for me.
As an ex mini racer and a Tesla owner, this the perfect car for me, but unfortunately it's out of my price range
Very cool, but too small for me. Lol
Lucky you are sponsored by a tire company!!😂😂
Hopefully they have at least a software reverse lockout.

Imagine if these were possible to mass produce, had frunks, airbags and priced in the 20 to 30k range...
$120k 😳😳
400hp in a tin can 😅
Yep, they're called 'cars'
Does anyone have more fun then you?

At this price just air cooled battery is a Nono crap, really...where is my money ?!
That car looks like a toy next to Kyle.
Very expensive 😮
$120,000 ...funny
Seems very dangerous
Wait, who would pay $120K for this Mini EV? You could buy a Tesla Model S Plaid for less.
I’d much rather have this little gem
