Hello world! Welcome to the classic Mini!
As a petrolhead, my dream list of cars to drive is infinite. Approaching the top of that list has always been the Classic Mini.
With its punchy 1275 engine, and curb weight of less than 700kg, its easy to see why the Mini has such a cult following!
Today, I finally get to live my dream of driving a Mini, and what better way to bring you guys along than a POV Drive!
My question; is the classic Mini still great in 2023?
So, buckle up as we take this great example through some Welsh country lanes in great POV, Rally style!

Everyone I`ve seen on the tube who has either driven a Mini for the first time or after a long break does so with a huge smile on their face and really enjoying themselves.
As for the comment about the 13" wheels, they are good for motorway driving as the speed limit is reached at lower revs, but for the proper acceleration and handling, you really need to run a mini on 10" and Yokohama rubber
I'm so happy that it's been kept original, the mini looks amazing.
We have one for over 20 years. Most reliable and fun car of all the cars we've owned.
Oh wow! I have always wondered what long term reliability would be like on a classic Mini.
Guessing it's used as a weekend toy as opposed to an everyday car?
Thank you for watching!

@@accelerateyoutube no its actually my daily driver. But my commute is quite short and on Mini friendly roads. Every morning I do my 3 corners flat out routine 😄.
We have upgraded and fully adjustable suspension and a tuned (but still reliable) engine. It's so much fun, Every day!
Yeah my dad had a yellow one in 1964, he washed it once a year at best ,wether it needed it or not and it disintegrated , within a few years . When it was launched it was £500 pounds new , Ford actually bought 2 and stripped them apart and rebuilt them and reckoned it cost 550 to make , at the time Ford didn’t have a small car apart from the Anglia , but basically let Austin rover get on with it as they’d worked out it cost £550 to make !! 🚗🚗👎👍👍
Wow, that's really interesting! I wish I knew those facts before filming lol
Ooo a yellow one! I bet that was funky!
£500 really won't get you much these days! Lol
Thank you for watching & watching!

I love the old classic mini👍 Another awesome video thanks Drew 😁👍 Ohhh like the bimmer 😅😂
Thank you John! 🙏
😂😂 I thought you might like the Beamer!
The Mini really is fantastic! Have you driven one??
- Drew
@accelerateyoutube I have never driven one mate would love too been in two of them that my mates have had in the past👍The one had a 1.5metro turbo engine in it now that was quick🤣😈
Love a mini.
Me too!
I still remember your one!

The 67 Lamborghini Miura copied the Mini engine layout, it had a transverse V12 mounted across the rear right behind the seats and had the gearbox in the sump, they later changed the design though with the 71 Miura SV which had separate oil for the gearbox and a dry sump system for the engine.
My first two cars were these, an estate and a saloon, and having to part with them were two of the saddest days of my life, and I've regretted it ever since.
Classic mini needs a classic steering wheel too!
I do agree, that is one thing I would change if I owned it!
- Drew
The older the mini, the more room you'll have. The mk3 in the 70's will fit 4 adults with even more room, as you don't have those bloated front seats
Belle vidéo 👌 😉. Super cette Mini 👍
Merci my friend!
They really are great cars! One I have finally ticked off the list!

Oui super 👌 👍 🏴 🇫🇷
Hi Alain. Could you please drop me a message on Instagram to ken_accelerate. We would like to send you something 👍.
Thanks
Ken
Thank you for making me happy. Am in Zambia av got 2 mini and av started rebuilding one but stuck. I can't find piston rings. I hope one day I will drive it and be able to smile and laugh like you.
What a nice video!
Your reactions are exactly how I feel when I drive mine! 😄
Had one 20 years ago as a daily. It rusted away under my bottom and I regretted getting rid off it for 20 odd years. So happy have one back!
Would you believe it gives me the same feeling and ‚drivinghappiness’ as the 360 I’m also lucky to own. They are supprisingly similair in that regard…apart from speed and power…obviously…
Goes to show you really do not need a supercar to have fun!!
Looking forward to your next video
Well done. Love the POV. 👍🏻
i had 7 people in my mini including my self...and we were adults :D
Bought one new in 1988, still got it on the road today as a weekend fun car. Have more fun it it than any other car. Also have a 2002 bmw mini also bought new, great but not as much fun as the original!!
Great Vidio of her! Awhhh thanks for the kind words ❤ any car i have your more than welcome to it.
Are you selling the mini Ryan?
@@TwistedTattoo.WarShortsyes its on the usual selling sites
@@ryanlewis6507 👍
I really do appreciate it dude! 🙏
Can't wait to see what funky cars you have next for us lol

Awesome video I've been driving Classic Minis since 1996...Yes I'm old 😂 I have a 1995 Mini Cooper that was my daily from 2000 until recently but that's been put away until Summer now...I get my Winter fun and smiles in a 2017 Abarth 595 Competizione that's had a few tasty mods... The Mini and Abarth are the only cars I've ever driven that make me smile and put the fun in driving 😁
I just got a 1988 Mini City a few weeks ago, it's an abandoned project that i'm going to finish, going to do it as a 71 Mk3 Cooper S clone. Got my first Mini in 1988, first put a 1275 engine in one in 1991 (when you could get cheap 1275 MG Metro engines out the scrappy), my last Mini was a 72 Mk3 with a 1380 Swiftune motor, sold that in 2008, been through tons of cars including yank muscle but keep coming back to Mini's.
@@Markycarandbikestuff Good luck with your project Mini. They're total money pits but worth all the bruised knuckles and stress 😁💸
Everyone should learn to drive in one of these I miss my mini rally car
Just bought another one. Regretted selling my mpi cooper 4 years ago so just had to get another one again!
How do i get in touch with you to see if you want to review a car? I'm in wales got a mint MG metro I'd love to see on RUclips
Wow, I do love an MG metro!

I have a 1991 classic mini. It just puts a massive grin on my face every time I drive it. I gets smiles and waves everywhere I go. No driver aids, you feel everything and you could park it next to a Ferrari and it wouldnt look out of place. Bloody thing always needs something doing but he is 32 years old 😄 Thanks for the video 👍👍
If you think this is fun, you should try and automatic Mini you would be amazed it really is like driving a goat kart
Viewers be like: THAT'S MR BEAN CAR!! WOW!
Mainly Americans would say that.
And Mr bean had 4 cars technically. All around 1976 so a very different 'mark' from this car. His first ever episode he drove an orange one, instead of the green with black bonnet. Fun fact.
@@themightyimp08 so thats why i comment it hahaha😅😆
Not once gone over the speed limit. He says blurring out the speedo.
Hi. Did the car sell?
Not for me I've got a classic mini from 1996 and it's automatic.
Great wee car apart from the rust but voted second more influential car by who? the mini owners club? more influential than a beetle? nonsense. BTW the original fiat 500 was also far more influential and groundbreaking for what you got in an ever small package long before the mini appeared.
I did research before filming (as I didn't know a great deal about the original Mini) the statements I made in the video were from various videos/websites found during my search.
I am happy to be corrected as I'm aware there are some hardcore Mini fans out there.
I wasn't sure I agreed with the "more influential than the beetle" quote, I wish I'd kept the sources of the information I found.
Thank you for watching!
- Drew
Second most influential car according to the Global Automotive Elections Foundation in 1999. Beetle was 4th. I guess everyone has their own opinion.
Sorry, not quite a classic mini! Mine had the central instrument cluster and the sliding windows! But honestly I'd far rather have your disc brakes!
Love it my favourite classic car.
They really are great cars man! I really want to drive a Honda swapped one (K20, B16, D15 I'm not fussy lol)
- Drew
My last Mini was a 1980 Clubman in the same colour as this one. I never thought of it as small because it took everything I needed on holiday. One of the best dashboards ever on my first 850. So basic it was perfect
I had one of these... also an N reg Sprite. Loved that car, until it got stolen. I've had 4 adults in mine. But, those later style seats eat up a lot of space. The original design had much thinner seats and afforded a lot more cabin space but no comfort. As for the gear lever... they were always sloppy in the later cars. The Cooper of the day had 63ish hp compared to the Sprite's 53ish hp.
Great Car, Great Video, Awesome POV camera
Thank you dude! 🙏
It was good fun filming & editing in a different style 👌
- Drew
me and the ex wife went from essex to hull and back in a day in one of these in 1987 . just to pick up an exhaust for my 1980 suzuki gsx 750e
I drove a classic Mini Mayfair briefly around a Morrisons car park on a Sunday, it was hilarious and I never stopped smiling.
That looks a nice one, with prices as they are for classic Minis I could never afford one.
Out of all my cars, the mini is the one that makes me smile the most. They are so much fun
