Many thanks for all your efforts making these videos. Must take ages. I had not seen a leaf spring type gear box until I started work on my TR6R 1972. Not really impressed with that design. Anyway, following your excellent tutorial I set it up and indexed the box. 4 gears again, heaven! Cheers!
Lunmad just got of the Suzuki :) , little chilly here today in Canada to be ridin! tomorrow suppose to be 30 degrees thou! im half way through watching your vid now
You must of been doing your gearbox when I was doing mine...I was propa confused with the leaf spring positions for the camplate and would of loved this video then as yours is the same year as mine. Got it sorted in the end though and it's great to watch yours even after I did it..
@1Sdundon Hi Sdundon :-) it's easy to get the indexing one tooth out with the leaf spring type, but isn't it great when that case finally pops on and you get all four gears!! Glad you got your sorted.
keep up the good work, perhaps you could do a box set and earn a few bob out off the classic mags, miss my trident like mad ,sold due to hardship one day another triumph 4 sure,a t140d probably.................
@VMATT500C Hi VMATT :-) The motor is a lot lighter with clutch and barrels off, and as I'm getting weak in my old age :-( it is easier for me to lift in on my own.
@bubster1981 Hi bubster :-) as usual its raining here, so I am not missing much riding time, you'll have to upload a vid or two of your Suzy, ride safe now!!
Hello Lunmad, when you went through the gears and then came back to top gear what was stopping you from popping off the case and putting a gasket on at that point?
Hello Lunmad. Enjoying the videos. What is the purpose of 4:02 "holding the high gear"? Do I need to do this when indexing? Is there another way of doing this without taking that left side apart? Mine is the leaf spring type. I am trying to index it but am not sure if I need to hold down anything, like the brake, or turn the wheel or what not?
Hi Jacob :-) glad you like them. Holding the high gear allows the gears to engage better, if you don't hold it all the gears turn making the gear change difficult. You don't need to do it to index but will have to do it to check the gears. If your chain is on there is no need as it's doing the job for you. You may find gear selection is easier rocking the wheel back and forth.
