New Aston Martin DBX 707 - The World’s Most Powerful SUV?! FIRST LOOK

- Fastest, Most powerful, Best handling? The #AstonMartin of old never strived for such accolades, content in being the left-field choice for the more discerning (less ambitious) customer. But AML is under new Management, with Ex-AMG Boss Tobias Moers taking charge, he’s bringing his work ethic of being top dog, to the British Marque.
Now we know that the #DBX sits on a whole New SUV platform, clean sheet for the SUV. Bonded aluminium just like the #supercar Aston platform. Being their own platform has given them freedoms in terms of chassis, design and technologies. The shape of the car, its way way shorter in height than any of the rivals, smooth edges and short overhangs. Despite this, it’s class leader in interior space. Theres also a flat floor with no sill to climb over, making it the easiest in class to get in and out of.
BUT - The Urus had major performance advantages with 650 hp, 0-60 in close to 3 seconds… vs the DBX’s 540 and 4.3. Heck, a fully spec’d RSQ8 has 600 BHP and 3.8 seconds for 126k.
Enter the “DBX 707”. A 707PS and 900Nm beast, able to hit 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, we’ll on it’s way to breaking some lap records at the Nurburgring we think!
Head of Powertrain Engineering, Ralph Illenberger, the DBX707’s engine now features ball bearing turbochargers and a bespoke engine calibration, alongside new 9-speed wet clutch gearbox. Align with faster shifts, it allows output of to be increased to 707PS and 900Nm, increases of 157PS and 200Nm over the DBX.
The 707 features a new version of the electronic limited slip rear differential (e-diff) which is strengthened to handle the torque, with Power distribution is still automatic, with 100% able to go to the rear wheels.
The 707 still uses the Triple volume air suspension linked to the 48v anti roll system - it now features new damper valving and recalibration of spring volume switching. The electronic power steering system has also been adjusted too. And to top it off carbon ceramic brakes come standard at 420mm front and 390mm rear - giving a big 40.5KG reduction in unsprung mass, covered by bigger 23inch wheel options.
The design is like a DBS on steroids, with the biggest grille they have ever made, bigger air intakes, and and aggressive rear with huge quad pipes - see what the 707 exhaust sounds like later!
The Interior has New Dynamic mode buttons, with a rotary control in the middle and specific buttons for suspension, esp and exhaust. In the Drive modes, Race Start launch is available in GT Sport and Sport+ modes. And finally, they have even added soft close doors!
We’ll have to wait to drive it to see how it tees up to the Lamborghini Urus, and the record holding Cayenne GT, but the basis seems amazing!

I love how you are talking about the bonded chassis. Im currently rebuilding my Aston Martin Rapide on my RUclips channel (engine and body) and the whole build quality is amazing. The new gearbox will be great, shame they didn’t put the v12 in it. But making that much power from a v8 is impressive. Sounds like they aren’t getting the ‘gimped’ version anymore
v12 is not needed for power, only big turbos are needed with that v8.
@@AKR088 there’s a reason Ferrari still put v12s in their cars and it’s not for power, efficiency, or packaging, a turbo v8 would do all that.

V10 is probably max for optimum performance and v12 is just for show, not needed for extra power today.

Almost as I wished the AM DBX to be ... let down still is the infotainment system but that apparently is going to change. Once done, it will be on my wish list!

@@swizzronny8603 No date was given :-( I believe the old Infotainment system is one of the largest remarks people make, when considering buying this car. Thus something most be done in order to boost sales. Merc will not give in as they protect their own thus something else needs to be done.
Absolutely awesome. I've always wanted an Aston - maybe one day, if I win the big lottery in NZ! THIS is the one I would choose. I would want the signature Aston Martin green bodywork with a special interior leather colour. Just dreaming!
i suppose this is Aston’s response to the issue of the standard DBX feeling underpowered, which is something i did not expect to hear in this day and age, everyone seems to want less power.
Here is the thing though... when BRABUS took the GLE and upgraded it and called it the Rocket 900 they said it was the fastest, lambo truck also claimed it was the fastest etc.. you get my point... what we need to see is real races from all these cars to see which one is really the fastest on the drag race.
I am a crazy BMW fan , BMW runs in my DNA , but dono i felt like if one day i was able to afford this DBX 707 i will be very happy, cz its amazing adorable specially , Aston Martin get Sebastian vettel as an f1 driver , so its a must for me to love this brand

Big improvement on the base DBX. Looks great. Only thing I'm not sure about is the way the rear diffuser juts out, but hey, it's not like I could ever afford one :-)!

Not sure an suv needs to be track focused but globally I'm sure there is a market for it as proven by the Urus. My suv has a tow bar and all weather tyres which I doubt many DBXs will have fitted.

My only *gripe* is they're still using that old mercedes mouse/infotainment control that was introduced in 2014(?) surely this was an opportunity to add something a little more modern? That aside, the rest of amazing and I'd certainly buy this over an Urus any day of the week.

You keep saying "most powerful performance SUV", but that's just not true. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and Dodge Durango Hellcat beat it. As does the Tesla Model X Plaid.
What Aston has been saying is "most powerful luxury SUV"

Silly levels of horse power but they didn't fix the one thing the DBX needed. I mean a car like that doesn't need 707 horse power. It really doesn't guys. Its not a racing vehicle and no real buyers are getting one for that purpose. The only thing that horse power will ever be used for is bragging rights and guzzling fuel. What it had before was plenty for real world use. But the circa 2014 infotainment, the biggest area where it truly was way behind everyone else and in a way that actually maters a lot for daily use, safety and enjoyment, the electronics package, no upgrades. Really Aston Martin?

Pretty sure brabus is considered aftermarket modifications, can't exactly order one through a mercedes dealer. The DBX 707 is the most powerful and fastest stock production luxury suv in the world. (Probably until the ferrari purosangue is announced)
I disliked the styling of the first car so much, starting with its Porsche SUV (Asian styled SUV i.e. Lexus and it’s roof line) overall size. the Car looked so small for the US market. I despised the Lexus style slopped roof line. Unfortunately, most of the new SUV were all looking the same.
Now this new car is fabulous. Everything your eyes see is the NEW front END of thIs car. It took me one hour to finally let my eyes be drawn away from the front and look towards the rear. It still has the slopping rear roof but it now has grown some Balls with this fabulous NEW rear end.
The overall effect of this new look it fabulous. Now this car has mussels. Lots and lots of mussels. I’m completely overwhelmed with this car and now it has the horsepower to back up its look. A little bit of tuning and Novatec or Brabus and not other car with come close to this beauty. This will be a run away hit. The sum of all parts look stunning. Ted

It's 707ps and Trackhawk is 707Hp
I guarantee the trackhawk doesn't go round corners like the DBX 707 will though, and the Aston is far more luxurious.
@@tomjeffries1824 The Trackhawk is 90k and this DBX 707 starts at 230k and I can tell you Trackhawk is actually pretty good in handling .

The looks are greatly improved but the rear spoiler remains very awkward. Is huge performance rather out of date now? Sadly, this should be an EV if it has to have a long life but I’m glad they have taken brave pills and made it a much better car….but that spoiler is not for me I’m afraid. 🤭🤭😐

I was in this car today and while it was comfortable and fast, it seems to almost suffer an identity crisis. It isn't sure if it is meant to be an eloquent people mover or a brute SUV. Maybe I got this wrong but that and the body shape just didn't do it for me...certainly not for $450,000 Australian dollars.
Hey Ken. It's both boss! That is the DNA of Aston Martin. Brute in a suit. Perhaps a Porsche Cayenne GT would suit your needs and price point.

Dodge Durango doesn't compete in Exotic/ultra Luxury suv($200k+) category, and it's top speed is only 180 mph ,most horsepower doesn't mean Fastest , the regular DBX has a top speed of 181mph , the DBX 707 - 195mph
