From EQ Magazine's EQTV, drummer Brain talks about the recording sessions for the new Guns 'N' Roses album, Chinese Democracy. See more now at www.eqmag.tv
It's sad...Axl original idea for the new Guns was pretty cool. But he took too long...these players weren't going to let their careers pass them by until it happened. I remember when Brain said he was leaving because he just had a baby...lol
love the record. wish they left some songs off and I heard parts of other songs and it would of been worth the whait if Catcher in the RYE. AND iRS. not on album. and other song s where on there it would Ben even Better 3 songs away from Greatness. of I give it A . 93% still alsome. AXL. next UP Finish What You Started. HURRY UP. please
Carlos Rodriguez Bryan “Brain” Mantia was also a member of The Limbomaniacs, CaCa (Zappa covers), Ted Zeppelin among other Bay Area bands including Primus.
Charles Drake. bro stop talking about AXL if you can't spell the Greatest Front Mans Name. FUCK.OFF. ================= THANK you VERY MUCH IM GOING HOME=the best ever 1 in A Million thanks AX
I find it interesting that he stayed. Had the producer told me to play what another drummer played note for note, I would've flat out said "Fuck you, I'm not another drummer. You want me to record? Awesome, but you need to let me flow as the drummer I've trained myself to be."
I have a feeling he's Mexican, going by the Primus live track where Les introduces him as, amongst other adjectives, the 'pseudo-Mexican'. This might actually mean he's not Mexican. Oops. Might be half Mexican half American?
That's the craziest recording story I've ever heard!! That's true talent right there.Brain is a real drummer.

Its sad too bc those instrumental songs from those village tapes are amazing

7/8 months thats insane! well worth it those drums sound killer on the album!
Brain is a superb musician. A man with extreme powers.

That's waaaaaay too much work for fucking RnR. Jesus christ.
Love this. Brain is the man. Both Josh and Brain discuss this on their respective episodes of the "I'd Hit That" podcast.
Which episode bud ?
Im down with the changes. Axl got heavy players to record the album, and its dope.
Brain>Chinese Democracy
Honestly that just sounds tedious. He was probably so excited to join only to be let down that he didn’t really have any creative freedom.
Frank is solid, but Brain's drum work on Guns was spectacular.
30 songs? where’s that fucking songs?
Everything that leaked, lmao
They were all leaked on the village sessions.

holy shit that is a crazy story.
this video deserves alot more views
He plays drums on all tracks except for the title track. And he does it perfectly. 🤘
his drumming on those village sessions is amazing
Wow
Yeah, but what a fucking testament to Brain's ability. I guess if I was getting paid to do that, and probably well. I'd give it a shot.
Why wouldn’t you just work the parts out at a rehearsal space and then book the session when you’re ready to track? I don’t understand
Wow...weird story. Respect!!! What a way to learn and play those songs!!
Dude that story is ridiculous !! I cant believe they put him through that but then again I can.
Brains drumming on Chinese Democracy are awesome, pity Axl "producer" Rose had to pro tools the album to death and Brain's energy is completely lost.
That is why all those CD demos are better
Brain plays alot for Tom Waits too. He's amazing.
Hahahaha! That sounds like something ridiculous Axel would make a drummer do absentmindedly.

nicest kit ever? yes.
Wonder what his pay was in total at the end.

The stories are waaaaaaay more interesting then the album.

Aren't people from Mexico also American?
