New Railcar Delivery to the Fullerton Train Museum

  • On Friday, 10/18/24, Union Pacific 5492 was delivered to the Fullerton Train Museum. It was trucked from its storage location and craned back on the rails.

    I live by the main tracks in Cheyenne, I occasionally see a string of the up passenger cars go by, it’s very cool. Sure happy up preserved a large fleet of them. They use them for the excursion trains they occasionally do and executive trips

    Of this series of 20 “Chair Cars” (1960, St.Louis); many ended up with Amtrak in 1972.
    Later some were acquired by Ringling Bros (Circus train usage), while others were used by American Orient Express.

    I don't think they do it anymore, but SCRM/OERM used to have their UP Employee apprecation weekend where they ran 942 and all the UP cars they had. I have only see pictures and oh its beautiful. Sadly those cars i think are in dire need of proper restoration on the inside at least. You can go thought them on their behind the scenes weekend.

    Car 5492 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1960 for Union Pacific. Went to Great Northern, then Amtrak. Amtrak sold it in 1985 instead of rebuilding it to heritage fleet.

      The music is from OpenMSX, an open source version of the Transport Tycoon music

      I partially made the Dash 9s in Transport Fever 2. There will be an update in the future to fix the random numbers.

      Originally it was a coach, converted into a diner some decades later

      Why deliver by truck?
      There's no way that operation could not have been done cheaper by rail!

      @@vincebreen3-55 the railcar is very old and would not have been able to be transported by rail.
