  • 12/21/24: My friend ‪@SilenceSeven‬ ("S7") and I went out on an extremely last-minute adventure last weekend on Saturday to see if we could find some new and possibly interesting locations that we've never scoped out before.
We embarked on a journey that took us about an hour or so north of San Bernardino, CA to the Union Pacific yard in Yermo, CA. As soon as we pulled up to the tracks, you could see Johnny Yard Bull in his big white company truck headed our way. He went from parked to flying low towards us through the desert in a cloud of dust to get his jollies by kick us foamers out! 🤣 It was quite alright because as you can there was not much there at the time.
After getting 86'd from Yermo, we made our way back south to scout out the BNSF Classification Yard in Barstow, CA. That video is here:
I Flew My Drone Over the BNSF Classification Yard in the Mojave Desert! What Did I See?
    • I Flew My Drone Over t...
Before we made it to the BNSF yard, we ended up stopping at a few very interesting locations along the way that sparked our interest and curiosity. (Good thing we are not cats). This video is the pretty sweet spots that we found!
As promised in the video here is the link to the BEEP:
    www.desertusa....
And a bit of history on the ATSF EMD 95:
Santa Fe FP45 95, originally Santa Fe 105, debuted in December 1967 and served as a premier passenger locomotive on Santa Fe’s Los Angeles-Chicago streamliners. Renumbered to 5945 in 1970, it continued pulling transcontinental trains like the San Francisco Chief until Amtrak's creation. By 1971, it transitioned to freight service and was repainted in blue and yellow.
In 1978, after a wreck, 5945 underwent significant rebuilding, with modifications including relocating the headlight. In 1981, it was rebuilt again, renumbered to the 5990-series in 1982, and later became a standout unit in the fleet. Notably, it retained unique paint schemes, avoiding the SPSF merger colors and receiving Santa Fe's Super fleet red and silver livery in 1990. It was renumbered multiple times, ultimately becoming ATSF 95.
FP45 95 played roles in special trips, including assisting steam locomotive 3751 on a 1991 excursion. It even appeared in the 1993 movie Fatal Instinct. In its later years, it occasionally substituted for Amtrak on passenger trains. Despite retiring in late 1997 due to turbocharger issues, it was briefly repaired before suffering a cracked engine block in 1998.
In 1999, FP45 95 was donated to the Western America Railroad Museum in Barstow, CA, where it remains on display alongside other historic locomotives and railcars.

What awesome adventure!! My first thought when you saw the Pinto was an AMC Pacer 😂. Your video brought back some railfanning memories when I was a kid. The Santa Fe experimental containers, the FP45 which I saw it in the Blue/Yellow warbonnet. The old heavyweight car was to transport horses. At the Del Mar Racetrack, the Santa Fe built a small yard next to the racetrack to offload the horses and store the passenger cars since the ATSF ran Race Trains to Del Mar. That's where they kept the train sets until the races were over. And there's nothing in this world like sitting in the back of a heavyweight observation car platform. Watching the Sunset. Of course you get all the track dirt on you tho. Thanks again for the memories my good friend!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

@P30CH I think the Pinto/Pacer may actually be a Chevy Vega! 🤔🤣🤣 I am so happy that you liked this one. I think you just confirmed that the heavyweight car was for horses too. That is so awesome to learn about the Del Mar races. Thank you so much Eugene! 😊 There is a ton of awesome history here for sure. I am loving all of the comments this video has brought. So many great memories and stories shared, it has been such a pleasure to read them. I may be making a video soon that will be able to show the inside of these railcars and locomotives! 🤞 Stay tuned! Hoping to bring supreme radness soon.😃 Have a great weekend my friend. Thank you so much for your support. 🙏🙏🙏

That Mad Max graveyard is so cool man awesome find.! What type of gimbal you rocking with the wide angle, is it one of them DJI pockets by chance..?

@STACKSY We about broke our necks as we passed by the wastelandage! Had to flip around to film it! 🤣 I dig that kinda stuff.
Dude you are smooth! My wife hooked me up with one of those DJI Osmo Pocket 3 cameras for Christmas! [Mrs.FJDad rulz] Was out trying it out. 😆 I love museums like this, there is another one not too far from me that has the sister to number 95 that is in this video! Number 97! 😁 Will have to go scope it out soon for you guys brother. 💪 Thank you so much STACKSY! So awesome to have you here my friend. 🤝😎

@@FJDad777 Yeah the battery gets some good time? that's something we were a bit iffy about when checking them out you're running the 4k settings?
You also rocking the factory mic or the detachable DJI one?

    • @FJDad777
      @FJDad777  Месяц назад +1

@STACKSY I am happy with the run time for sure. Set at 4k I feel like I used it for over an hour non stop once with no prob, and juice remaining. So far I have only used the internal mics on the camera. It did come with the lil blue tooth mic, but I have not used it yet. I also have the extra battery handle dealy it really boosts the battery juice! 🔋⚡️
