UNT has had the best college drumline for ever. I almost went to college there just to march, and then I realized picking a college based on a drumline was pretty dumb.
Their drumline's decent, all the SCV guys do snare ensemble/tenor ensemble. And this isn't me harping on them, saw them when I went to a football game there.
Rimenuir Lumfatnur atleast when I was there they had different techs for each line. A line was so much more intense then b line. The amount of practice was absolutely insane. Atleast 3 to 6 hours if not more a day. I loved every minute of it.
Creative and impressive performance from these drummers. Intersting that a uniform that was created when I attended North Texas State/Univ. Of North Texas 1987-91, black pants, red converse, bow tie and custom jacket are still in use. I think Jason Sutter (Smash Mouth, Foreigner, Chris Cornell, Marilyn Manson etc.) came up with part of one of the jackets design? 1987-88 season, the jackets were black nylon with yellow artwork which changed to a cotton embroidered style - name & mean green UNT logo - as in this video around 89?
2:06, stick clicks need work, obviously, but these are probably the best college snares in the country at that time! probably all teaching at colleges or high schools now.
It wasn't me. But at the end of every passage, they kept looking at me like I did. As if I wouldn't believe how well they played until I saw their "bad attitude." This is something drumlines need to stop doing forever. Stop being self-referential.
Tom Shea Amen. Unfortunately, every line in DCI except the Troopers and Pioneer do almost nothing but that. It's gotten so old...along with all the goofy WGI "choreography" that every snare and tenor line use (step-turn-squat-lean-look mean-step-turn-repeat to other side). I miss the days where the Cadets were hauling and chopping all over the field and the Devils could be counted on to execute a killer Latin Jazz show with the most creative book. I think Bluecoats and Blue Knights seem to be the worst of all. I really hope this crap doesn't permeate into the great college lines like Michigan State.
Mike Davis In all honesty. Bluecoats are probably one of the least to make such faces, and Cadets still haul ass. Have you SEEN their shows? Jesus, the judges are more out of breath than the actual players. Blue Devils still do jazzy stuff, just along with a few visuals. And I totally agree with you on the Blue Knights. They do have the issue where they headbob like crazy. It's just the style of today, some do, overdo it, some do it because it adds to the effect.
Drummerboy 98 Ok, I’ll give you the minimal mean faces on the Bluecoats, but the choreography is just way, way overblown. And the Knights look completely stupid with all the lunging facial expression. Good call on that. And, yes, everyone hauls ass around the field. They have since about 1982. Have you seen a Cadets show from the 80’s through the ‘90s? They were flying around and playing dynamically as three or four sections of a battery, not as 17-20 pissed-off dancers who also play drums. It just seems that the classic integrity of the line has gone out the door for the sake of the choreography. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s just the style today. And yeah, I get it that it probably started “back in the good ol’ days” with Star’s ‘93 show. I get all that. I guess my exasperation is in the transformation of DCI to WGI. Soundtracks, amps, keyboards, etc.; that was WGI. Now it’s DCI. And to me, it sucks.
Tom Shea yes how dare they look serious when playing. Seriously though there were a lot of moments that were meant to be laughed at during the entire performance, doesn't seem like pissed off behavior to me. Pay attention to the drumming instead of what faces they make and maybe you might enjoy the activity a bit more. Just my thought.

Rimenuir Lumfatnur they also have 2 different drumlines. One for games and one just for competitions. I know i was in the b line the ones for games.
Ah did not know! You guys had a pretty good show from what I heard of it (was in visiting band section). Having two lines must suck to tech.

Thats awesome!
Are those SCV's drums? The wrap isn't the typical UNT green. Amazing as always!
yeah there's not even bothering being subtle at this point lol
Yeah and most and the center snare is also the center snare for SCV
Paul Rennick the caption head at SCV also directs UNT! A lot of membership merges.
3 of them marched scv, and rennick (unt caption) is battry caption head at scv
this is the most captivating snare ensemble I have ever seen since 1970. Meaty clean and fun
3:45 speed the video up to 2x and try not to laugh
🤣🤣
That was insane! Definitely one of the best snare ensembles I've ever seen put together.
Bryce! Cameron! a dynamic duo tbh
Sensational! I like the comic relief and my only suggestion would be put in just a pinch more of that. The program was awesome! Member of the WDCHOF.

I love me a game of rock, herta, scissors.
they spelled scv wrong in the title
Lmao
RUclips algorithm brings us together once again
Those shots were TASTY
UNT doesn’t need a snare line and a bass line, the need 2 bass lines one with these guys
UNT snare line?
Nah bro

Pretty certain you gotta be pretty good to even get through the pre-interview
@2:39 is just too sick
Is it me or does Bryce have a Marty McFly vibe going on?
