Very much enjoyed this video and especially your radio communications & explanations. I'm not a pilot but being an engineer I find flight/ navigation and radio comms fascinating.
@@ginclearaviation I'm currently reading 72 lessons from the sky by Fletcher McKenzie. It's a great read considering many of the stories are by time served pilots who still learn valuable lessons to pass on.
Well done indeed! A very clear commentary throughout; as a relatively newly qualified GA pilot, it was a confidence booster for me on what I too, could achieve on what I currently know. Thank you - and I look forward to the next trip with you!
Hi Ray, I am so glad it has given you the confidence to try a trip! More trips with all the planning and full explanation on the way. Thanks for your kind comments.
Great film Dan, enjoying the channel . Nice clear delivery and this one really helped to clarify the process for the trip to Texel, which I'd love to do at some stage. Keep them coming , Cheers Steve.
Great video thx. Very much enjoyed the camera angles, sound with the included comms and the flight planning. Graphics over the video were appreciated and well done. A subscription from me and I look forward to more content!
@@ginclearaviation I must add I am not a real pilot, but I replicate flights like yours in Microsoft Flight Simulator. The comprehensive planning and commentary really help me make best use of the simulator.
So glad the video is of help. That's the reason I do them. Not only to push myself, but also to find info that isn't that obvious sometimes. Another fabulous GA airport, near Amsterdam, is Hilversum. Very friendly and a great place to land for a weekend in Amsterdam.
A very nicely put together video. Love your panel. Two respectful comments: We are supposed to fly +500 for a VFR cruising level with that heading. I think I would have delayed the descent until closer to Texel.
Affirm on the +500, you absolutely correct. But as London Info and Amsterdam were happy I continued. I descended early into Texel as the cloud layer ahead was getting to be overcast and I didn't want to get 'stuck on top', as descending through low cloud is not advisable. But it turned out the sky was clear over Texel, the beauty of hindsight! Glad you like the video and my panel. The panel is so good to fly behind. Many thanks, Dan.
cruise at 80 and VNE 100 miles/hour. The new ones with Rotax 915 VNE is 120. I was based at Popham for six years and now at Bossington. Would be happy to take you for a flight anytime😁
Hi MQ-Cavalon. Just had an idea. I’d love to shoot a video of you and your cavalon as a feature for Gin Clear Aviation. Would you be up for it? Regards, Dan.
I believe the air data comes from the Garmin 'computer' working out the direction and speed from heading, drift angle and true airspeed compared to ground speed etc. I don't have internet connection on the Garmin.
Great video! Maybe less music would better? Good for when not much is happening but in the background of radio comms really doesn't add anything. Looking forward to the next! I got my PPL at Sherburn in Elmet in 2002, not flown for 20 years but really feeling like getting back into in for my retirement.
Sure glad I ran into your channel! you've got one more subscriber. After landing and before departing Texel, do you still need to pay a visit to the customs desk or is gendec enough?
On landing the Customs officials were waiting for me. They looked at my passport and paperwork etc. Before leaving to return to the UK, I had to wait for Customs arrival to Texel to stamp my passport as 'departure'. I was actually ready to leave two hours before my flight plan time, but I had to wait for the customs officials to arrive from the main land.
Very nice video thank you! Popham is my local airfield - we love taking the kids there and having a drink and a toastie in the cafe.

Glad you enjoyed it. I have e new video arriving soon with loads of radio communication with ATC as the flight progresses.

Thank you for doing this great video, very informative and entertaining - and it helps that you fly from Popham too! Good job.
Glad you enjoyed it! There will be a video of a new trip in the near future.
Great Video. I’m based around the corner at Brimpton and am looking to visit the Netherlands soon so this was very useful.

your videos are a joy to watch clear and very informative keep it up please :)
Thanks, will do!
An excellent video. Thank you.
Thanks Stuart.
Great and informative flight. Tempted to do it in my Cavalon👍 many thanks for sharing
I've always wanted to have a flight in a Cavalon. They look amazing. What do they cruise at? A trip in one of those to Texel would be epic!

@@ginclearaviationthat would be great. I sent you an email to confirm👍
Did this trip in my jodall from bidford on Avon via Manston ostend over night at mid Zealand the Saturday up to the big flying to texal great trip
That was a good route.
Great video, keep them up 😊
Thank you! Will do!
In principle when descending from a FL to an alt (and vv) you can already set the QNH when initiating the descent, just a little less workload.
Thanks for the information and clarifying. Every day's a learning day! Regards, Dan.
Excellent
Thank you! Cheers!
As we don't have ADS-B weather in the UK where does your Garmin get the wind direction and speed from, do you have an internet connection?

When was this flight actually done? Pre Brexit?
Hi Stuart, the flight was mid August this year 2023.
I want to fly to texel now
Just do it!
