Hi good video mine 1985 dr 600 was making bad knock i have adjusted the balancer chain and its gone mine has 50000 miles on now runs again like new thanks for the tip
Just picked up a 93 DR650R with 10k miles. Chain was pretty lose when I got it. Drove it 3 hours home, tightened the chain and noticed it still wobbles a bit when driving. Is that a sign that I need to adjust the counter balance chain?
vmorrison26 Did that solve the noise issues you were having? I've got a 94' with some idling chain noise, pretty sure it's not the cam chain though. I'll tear into into it. Thanks for the video!
Douglas Rhine, I bought my 90 at the end of 89. Rode it till 92, went to college, so it was in storage to 2003, which was when I freshened it up. It had 3600 after 14 years. Its now got 14,029 on the odo, at about 29 years. Engine is getting freshened up with a complete rebuild, 670cc, cam, TM40 and free flow system. As far as balance chain, mine was a little loose at about 12,000 miles.

Chain has to have a 3-6 cm clearing.
You'l destroy it running tight.
Thanks for posting the video! Did it solve your problem?
Steve Wells it did! After about 3000 miles the bike was making a bunch of noise again and I adjusted it and it putts like a kitten again.
@@vmorrison26 Great news!!! I'm going to do the same to mine as soon as I get the gasket next week. My 1992 has 29, 560 miles and still runs great.
does it need to be at TDC for this?
thatallredheadude 1 no it doesn’t.
@@vmorrison26 thanks, I have the same year bike. I love it
@@hank1556 If the chain didn't jump a tooth or so no need.
3500 miles is all. .? And I mean that friendly like
Douglas Rhine is sat in a buddies back yard for over 20 years. Put 1500 on in under a year so it should get plenty on it from here on out.
