I got a previous gen with n5095 CPU at the same price with 16gb RAM bought last year. The present S12 is a tad faster while consuming a bit less juice. It came with win11 Pro, a bargain. I don't play game and it works much faster than i3 3rd gen laptop which I bought for $500 about 12 years ago. I bought 3k 17" portable monitor also for $150 and mechanical keyboard (blue swtich) for $20. Altogether Beelink MiniS + monitor + keyboard cost $320, at least twice faster than my old $500 i3 laptop.
Where did u get 20usd for mechanical keyboard? Can you share the link for it also with the place where u bought the monitor? Much appreciated 😊
Where did you get the 17" screens?
There are many cheaper i3 budget devices nowadays, and for 500$, you can buy surprisingly powerful gaming PCs for your buck.
I feel ya though. I bought a 2000$ PC over a decade ago, a powerful PC for it's time, and it has since become entirely obsolete.
From the looks of it, this computer will serve you well for the simple, essential tasks. Not so much for gaming. Maybe retro gaming.
Mini PCs like this often work well as application servers for stuff that isn't particularly CPU-intensive, like Home Assistant or a file or print server. It'll make for a nice Kodi box too, and perhaps it can handle emulated retro games if that's your thing. They also might perform well at the offices of small businesses. I won't say I'd recommend them in larger office settings, which are better served by thin clients that the IT pros can manage from one central location, but it might work there as well.
I'm using it to play modern games that don't require a lot to run. Games like Cassette Beasts, Vampire Survivor, even Crash 4 runs alright on it to my surprise. Some PS3 games like Sonic and Sega All stars Racing, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Ultra Street Fighter IV, ran great.
Nice! Yeah these mini PCs are better than I thought they would be.
Hey I know it's been 4 months but If y'all are reading this, do you think it would run Project Zomboid solo and online games fine?
Do you think he is good at games?
Im getting this for my grandparents who use it mainly for checking emails and scrolling on facebook
Geat review. Did they reach out to your for review pr did you have to reach out to them?
I wonder if this model can do fluid Netflix 4K or h265 4K decoding with Moonlight/GameStream?
I read some complains about beelink s12 pro. , because it failed after a couple of days/weeks. what is your experience with this model?
This thing would be good with Geforce now or other cloud gaming services. I dont see many people testing these devices for such use purposes.
Sorry if this was mentioned in the video already, but does this have WoL (wake on lan)?
Good as a media player? Playing high res 1080p and possibly 4K video?
I have one of their X45 mini PC's and it works very well. Although, I have decided to sell it. I've decided to go all laptop from here on in. I need more portability for my work.
Why isn't this portable as well, u can connect multiple portable monitor to it to no?
@@osirusj275 obviously, you can hook up multiple monitors. However, I really don't understand what that has to do with my comment. I think you missed the point. Laptop computers run on batteries and mini computers have to be plugged into a wall outlet. I travel on planes and trains quite a bit for work. What would you have me do, drag around a little box computer and a monitor all the time?🤣 As I mentioned in my comment, I need portability. Somehow a laptop seems to be far more appropriate.
@@osirusj275 by the way, laptops run on this interesting invention called a battery. Mini-computers still have to be plugged into an AC wall socket. I don't think I'm going to have much luck plugging one into a tree.
@@dr.fitprofessor4363 I'm going the opposite way. 1. $1400 Macbook broken to a simple ear bud getting caught when it was closing the case. which some how destroyed the entire monitor. 2. A hp Laptop virtually useless because a small plastic ball got caught in the hinge and that destroyed the monitor. Laptops are over priced fragile pieces of crap. Good luck with your switch. I'd take a mini pc in a heart beat.
@@ruminating1596 it sounds like you need to be more careful with your laptops. I've owned several and I've never broken so much as one of them. LMAO
no mention for emulation??? also ive had really good performance with the 11th gen .. maybe try beta drivers??? (maybe the recent drivers made a difference
I bought one of these and installed Ubuntu 22.04. Everything works but Bluetooth, which is disabled and will not turn on. WiFi works.
I previously bought a different Beelink model on which the audio output was disabled and would not turn on, although Bluetooth worked.
Windows probably runs fine but I can't confirm that.
Is it Good for retro gaming emulation up to the Wii
Love your keyboard,what brand?😋
The thing i hate about these type of review is most of these type of products have 3 variations and review the best one only like it would be a better idea if you review all 3 versions of a product to not cause confusion
Think it would be good to read twitch chat and run OBS On ?
Going to use mine for some simple tasks and services I have going 24/7. Do not need a lot of processing speed to run those.
Maybe also as a home server for the automation of smart home.
Nice 👍
Do you know if this has WoL? (wake on lan)
For home server, once connected to a monitor and all the settings configured, so literally I can just power this mini pc on without a monitor and server will still be up right?
@@osirusj275 Yes that is my plan too
How's the wifi connectivity performance of this mini pc? I already have one Beelink J45 with Intel J4205 Processor but it's wifi is very weak.
Can you play retro games?
Thank you! I'll be checking your other videos to see which “mini pc” will work for me or whether I should buy a Laptop.
can it handle old games like starcraft, counter strike and warcraft?
whats upgradable ?
I am looking for something cheap to run a dedicated home assistant server on, i saw aome people had issues getting debian to run
not sure if you tested the audio to see if it can output 5.1 or 7.1 audio(via hdmi)? I could only see it support 2 channel stereo audio (via hdmi)
Sorry I don't have a way to test that
What about cpu based games?
So, im a musician and want a small pc. Will something like this work for recording in a DAW like reaper? I won't be doing any video editing or rendering.
sorry not sure about that one since i haven't used reaper and i have no music skills
@@FishBeeProductions thank you for responding. It was on sale for $122 so I bought it. Arrives today.
@@altpathhey there, I’m in a similar boat as you. Has this PC worked okay for Reaper?
What GPU can I pair it with?
is it windows 11?
Ubuntu server installation possible?
What about Game Streaming like Xbox Game pass? Is this good enough for that?
Yes, if u stream it doesn't matter about the device it's about the internet
@@npchilling3608 Thanks!
Do all the Beelink mini pcs come preloaded with Windows OS?
Yes Windows 11 Pro
Would this be good to use per sa for 3d printing applications
i would think so but not sure about that since i don't have a 3d printer
I just want it for league of legends on lowest settings. Will it work?
did it work on yours?
SO perfect for school student doign school work?
Yes
Can i edit videos with this pc?
possibly depending on what type of video but i would get a more powerful version if it was me
N100 is better 6watts in 16Go
You mean better than 16go
Bad review, basically “I tested
Not for me but maybe for you”… really?
DEAD after 20 months.
Hahahaha rocket league! Who the hell plays that crap?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do you think this is worth upgrading from a J4125 12gb ram mini pc?
Sorry I haven't tried that one. This one is more entry level performance though.
My 2cents... because you can *now* get this model (Mini-S) with 16GB RAM and 512GB NVMe SSD for $139, I would say, yes, it is worth upgrading. Note that BeeLink does have another model with 2 x 2.5Gbps NIC that sells for about $189, and uses DDR5 RAM instead, so a little faster (that is the EQ12).
