The problem was that Ghanaians did not have the patience to understand his mission and what he was doing. Moreover, the Ashanti empire and the Northerners as well never liked him being the president for fear of them losing their powers over their territory, so they demanded Ghana be divided into states. They did many things to take him down, distracting numerous projects and missions he was undertaking for the country's development. He did all those things to control their attacks and complete the projects and Africa Unity within the shortest time. But it was a crying shame that they achieved that when he was out of the country.

He got preoccupied with African Unity, even though the timing was not quite right. Nkrumah’s misplaced priorities are arrogance engineered his ultimate downfall. Ghana the first subsaharan Africa country to gain independence was not intended to be an island of independent country in black Africa, it was the colonial masters pilot program to see how the black man would manage his own affairs. But unfortunately the first dictator and egotistical post colonial president Nkrumah failed to see that. In the end apart from the tragic loss of lives in the difficult and convoluted war path strategy Nkrumah adopted, he also squandered resources he could use to build highways and other infrastructures across ghana in the war. Instead of Nkrumah using the army of his newly independent country of six million people and without basic infrastructures to help start a revolution in roads and highways construction across ghana, Nkrumah rather deployed them in Congo to fight. Ironically the soldiers Nkrumah deployed in Congo to fight returned to ghana to overthrow his dictatorial government. Had Nkrumah engaged the soldiers at home to help execute national and patriotic duty of building infrastructures in their newly independent country, they would not have had the time and inclination to plan to topple his government. And Nkrumah would have had the same political stability lee kuan yew of Singapore had to make his dream of a modern and civilized Singapore a reality. A word to the wise is enough.
It's been established that he made several mistakes... He became more respected in retrospect than while in active duty. Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate you. 💙❤️💙🙏🙏
The fragmentation of Africa require a unity that would harness resources for an independent development, something a visionary saw. Your thought lined with the ugcc, " let stay in our small place and forget the big picture ". That thought breed the hatred in Tribal and egoistic disloyalty to Nkrumah dream of an African nation. To date, no western prescription has resulted in us having even common decent standards of living above 30% percent in all of Africa. So who is Right? The visionary or the short sighted marginalized commentator?
They said Jesus was arrogant, I'm not surprised but I'm shocked to learned that after all the time for a postmortem our people are still not learning meaning of true self governance, how to achieve it and what it takes to achieve. WESTERN DEMOCRACY IS NOT THE ROUTE TO AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT, IT IS A MEANS BY WHICH EMPERIALIST MAINTAINS CONTACT AND CONTROL OF STOOGES ALEVATED TO THE STATUS OF LEADERSHIP TO SERVE THE MASTER'S INTEREST. remember the meeting in Germany to divide and share? It resurface when China took interest in developing pacts with African nations. He was reminded that YOUR STATUS IS HERE WITH US AND YOU MUST PLAY BY THE BOOK, MR CHINA, THE GAME IS EXPLOITATION AND NOT ALEVATION.
That's a uninformed, stupid as well as an arrogant comment. Incompetent even. You sound like all the other false propagandists that are attempting to prolong some character assassination of Kwame Nkrumah to prevent the continuation of the wider priority of continental unification. Primary understanding of President Nkrumah and the political objective of Pan-Africanism can only be correctly interpreted through the honest study of his writings. Not through the enemies of a liberated, independent Afrikan continent. You can never win by merely parroting western sentiments.

How has Ghana enjoyed the Western world's liberal agenda since they destroyed the great Kwame Nkrumah?
African slave mentality!!!
