The economic squeeze by the west deliberately and calculatingly lowering the world price of cocoa so that Ghana would lose needed revenue from the sales of it, as well as the lies told on him about how he ran the country.

Nope, just Nkrumah's domestic opponents. CIA and British intelligence made the same attempts at several other countries but we're seldom successful due to the patriotic disposition of the soldiers in those countries. Like Singapore. Without the actions of the treasonous of a few the coup would have never happened. If we refuse to acknowledge that this country will never learn from its own mistakes. Always believing it's someone's else's mistake.

@cnsmiles , without support of the CIA and British Intelligence, it wouldn't have worked. Those two agencies were responsible for removing all the patriotic African leaders after they were helped by the Soviet Union to achieve independence. Using Singapore as an example is a very bad one as there are more better examples on the African continent to buttress the point of the original poster.

It's not wholly true. The Mastermind of the coup was J.W.K. Harley, the Head of the police who was being investigated in a bribery case. So, he had dire reasons for wanting Nkrumah out of the way. After the coup, the new head of state Lt. Gen. Ankrah traveled to the USA to lobby President Johnson for US support for the coup. If the USA was were behind the coup, that trip wouldn't have been unnecessary. My point is simply that Nkrumah was overthrown by traitors within Ghana.

No, it's a fact that western intelligence played a role in his overthrow. They were responsible for the 5 unsuccessful assassination attempts at him, and later instigated with the Army-Police traitors that carried out the coup d'etat. The propaganda conveyed about President Nkrumah was deliberate lies: false propaganda for public consumption. The economic system was sabotaged by the world price of cocoa being deliberately lowered to adversely affect Ghana's ability to accrue the revenue it maintained before that maneuver by the U.S. Then they had the audacity to say Nkrumah mismanaged Ghana's economy.
It was an all-out intent to sabotage Nkrumah, his political party, and his ideas of development at all costs. See, then, as well as now those people don't want to see the African with any power that eclipse theirs. Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah represented that in living form.
Also, the western nations have exploited Africa's vast resource wealth for a long time. The objective of continental unification Nkrumah spoke about and actively worked toward, which would liberate all of our people was something those white men did not want to see. Which reveals how real the racism is. Racist machinations from the outside, and traitorous African's who aid and abet them on the inside.

Not so. The CIA chose the Army-Police traitors that staged the 1966 Coup d'etat. But they were trying to sabotage President Nkrumah at all costs. They knew his ideas of continental unification and industrial development of Africa would not only make Africa a world power but would put a screeching halt to the long-time resource looting foreign nations had engaged in for a long time, and still do today. Those western racists could not stand the thought of Africans possessing that kind of power. Also, western intelligence is responsible for the 5 unsuccessful assassination attempts at President Nkrumah as well.

Just looked up the Tuskegee Airmen and you are right about them. But, it is pretty clear one of the main reasons they are famous is because it was highly unusual for African-Americans to fly fighter jets at that time in the USA. In fact, the records show that Racial Segregation only ended in the US military in 1948. That’s 3 years after World War II.
And, as we know, the Civil Rights movement to demand the end of racial segregation and discrimination went on into the 1960s. In other words, African Americans were still being discriminated against in many ways up till the 1960s.
So, it is not implausible that the African-American man that the speaker refers to may have said all that. After, African-Americans did not have full rights to even vote in the USA till 1965.

@talkingAfrica Trust me, sir. I am from America. Black Americans were very much aware of the Tuskegee Airmen, SPECIALLY due to the social and political climate in the country at that time. They were a source of African American and national pride. So, yeah, I'm still calling CAP.
I will add this, though. He may have been shocked that an AFRICAN was an actual fighter pilot, and this would've been due to the propaganda at the time was such that Black Americans were being taught that Africa and her inhabitants were backward. Unfortunately, this belief still persists to this day and can be seen in the attitudes towards Africa that are held by FBA and ADOS.

I do not doubt anything you have said, brother. The man he met may have made it look like blacks were not allowed to fly jets and he was wrong.
I am giving the old man the benefit of the doubt because I do not think he can concoct such an elaborate story. But, I will do my best to try and reach him and ask him these questions. Thank you 🙏🏿
