I bought the fresh water version of this tank but want to upgrade my light to the one on the saltwater as i will be moving to saltwater, which model is it? i would like to purchase it
I came for the review of the tank, as I want to start a marine setup, but was pleasantly surprised to see the recurves on the wall, as I started shooting bare-bow last year. I watched your other videos on this tank setup and I think I'll give it a shot.
Thank you for the video though I do have a question on know how to put in your water and have the salinity just right. Do I just buy premade stuff or is there a way to use regular tap water and add salt into it.
Great video! I wanted to ask, what would the maximum heater width be for this tank? I know you’re supposed to buy the Fluval M150 but it’s not sold in Australia unfortunately
I've just ordered this tank after seeing it online constantly, one thing I've noticed in forums is people say the light runs so hot it heats the tank beyond the aquarium Heaters set temps!. Just wondering if you've had any heat issues at all?.. I know some people have said they have central heating on 20°c all the time, I'm guessing you keep this in the shed so it's cooler anyway in there
Hi m8 the chamber on the side were you have the heater ,is it very narrow?mine has extra bits of plastic in it making it a very narrow "v"shape ,so also wanted to ask if the fluval heater is thinner than a generic one and is the only one that will fit in that end section?
I got his new tank between two smaller flex's and want this one to have just a few center piece fish, im trying to find stock that doesnt actually require much in decor so its differant to all my other tanks. IE something like a couple of fancy golds (although i think there too big for this tank), any ideas as im scratching my head lol
Hello they seem to be on limited release atm I believe the lock down has affected distribution as they were launching March / April . I know for a fact Maidenhead Aquatics were selling them but it was a rebranded freshwater version (with marine light installed) as apposed to the true marine version but tbh I don't think there is any difference other than the stickers on the box.
@@EverydayAquarist cheers for the reply mate, yeh it worries me that its not even show as a product on the UK Fluval/Hagen website but as you say its probably the current state of the world :(. Hope you and your family are ok mate
i have the same tank but its always little cloudy. should i add chemipure blue? if so where would i place it? if not, is there anything i can add to help clear it up? i have no fish in the tank and its been set up for 6-7 weeks.
Thanks for the video, super helpful! I have a quick question. Do you know roughly how high the minimum water requirement is? I want to put terrapins in it, but need space for a basking area above the water
Is it safe to submerge a electric cable under water? The pump is submerged and the power cable is connected directly to the pump? (Failed my gcses and never owned a tank before) always thought its unsafe to have cables underwater
Hi I don't know exactly but it's a bit more because the light it comes with is a lot more expensive than the freshwater version however it works out cheaper to buy the marine set rather than upgrade the light in the freshwater one.
@@EverydayAquarist That's ok. Are you from the UK? I ask because I heard there might be a power outage here but my fish tank needs power. What do I do? Have you made a video on that before?
I don't think there will be a power outage. However just wrap the tank in a blanket to keep it warm and if desperate you can blow a straw into the tank or swish the water around with your hand to add oxygen if it's just a small tank.
How did you even come across this tank i’ve literally been looking everywhere and it is sold out just about everywhere I can find and it’s the one I wanted but I had to compromise because everybody has the buy them out
Not very impressed with fluval approach for this flagship marine tank, if seams the only difference from the freshwater tank is the light. Doesnt come with a heater which is sad and filtration is something over never been impressed with by them, however you made a good video man, appreciate it👍
Thank you. You're right the only difference is the light. And it is a bit weird there is no heater I have always thought this. However a lot of people have used the fresh water version and added a marine light to run it as marine, which basically says the tank works well as marine but just needed a marine light so that's all that was changed, and the Fluval marine 3.0 is a beast of a marine light. I haven't run it long enough comment on the filter so I'll let you know in a future video what I think of it👍
Yea and it’s also sad that I kept asking on their original video (Fluval) if there was ANY difference other than the light such as pump/filtration etc. and they just kept ignoring the question and saying it was the “main difference”. I guess the other difference was the name lol
Heater is due to cost and personal choice - people SHOULD be picky with heaters. Filtration is fine if you set them up properly, I personally buy better branded pumps anyway. Nothing NEEDS to be different other than a coral growing light from a freshwater aquarium.
@@joshavila1176 Hi Joshua, I emailed Fluval and they replied to my question below. Hope it helps! ME: Hi Support, Hope you can clarify few questions i have. 1. ?? Where did you read about this, filter media is always good to have, while live rock can help with biological filter, its always good to have a filter media for mechanical filtration and additional biological filter, chemical filtration is also nice to have in sw to ease up maintenance.
Absolutely use RODI water and use live sand and rocks, your tank will cycle a lot faster and live sand/rock provides biological filtration. DO NOT rinse live rocks or sand
Cool i might get one.to go next to My freshwater flex I would love it you could check out my channel and give feedback the video is great keep posting to board of corona
Fluval is such a let down when it comes to quality / cheap plastics and design. Not worth the money, did you notice the surface skimmer / intake is not even skimming the surface of the water everything is just floating around LOL!!!!! Rather spend a few hundred dollars more on a real quality AIO system.
this video is honestly pretty awful. you gave zero information about the lights which are arguably the most important thing in a reef system when you're planning for corals. like is it rated for corals or just a FOWLR tank and if so what type of coral? softies, lps, sps? you also washed live sand. the "cloudy"water you are talking about isn't dust, it's live bacteria which is why the sand is packed wet and is a lot more expensive then freshwater sand. you also didn't mention any of the specs on the return pump at all. I mean all of this is just basic information. it's like you got this in the mail and did zero research on marine aquariums before setting it up and giving people terrible advice about how to set up a saltwater aquarium.
Works great and can be positioned horizontally or vertically
Hey man, nice video!!
Do you know what’s the current replacement for the PS1 Skimmer? I can’t find it anywhere in Europe
Hi, I think most of the mini nano skimmers will fit in the gap. The ps1 is pretty big
Hi
Can you install 2 heaters?
1 either side of the rear compartment.
I'm thinking redundancy via a controller.
Great vid btw
There is the same gap on both sides so I imagin you could.
@@EverydayAquaristhow did you get that in the gap
Hi mate, struggling to find this in the UK! Would you recommend just buying the freshwater version and then adding the marine light?
That's essentially what this is however that is a more expensive way of doing it. I think the lock down has effected the launch of this tank

Maidenhead aquatics

Is the light watertight? I’ve had Bad experiences with leds over open water in general
Yes it is
Thank you for the video though I do have a question on know how to put in your water and have the salinity just right. Do I just buy premade stuff or is there a way to use regular tap water and add salt into it.
It’s easier to buy premade salt water from your local aquarium store. My local store uses the Coral Pro salt, which is a top quality salt mix.
what size light that will fit along with the one that it comes with?

What is the difference between the freshwater and saltwater kit?
Would you recommend this or a 52l one?
Big one
Can a refugium be added to this?
Great job bro beautiful....
Thank you so much
Can i use smaller skimmer fluval mini for example?
Yes

2. How many fish I can put in this aquarium

Its not a surface skimmer, its a protein skimmer, i rarely see anyone use surface skimmer in a saltwater tank before.
As the name suggest it doesnt skim the surface rather it skimmed waste products like fish poop, this will only work in saltwater environment.

Its just the light, but they did made a special compartment for skimmer but this can be done on regular flex with a small skimmer.
