@@JasperForge Fuck the thought that someone in another game played a class better than you. If you're a whispers bard, you might try to perform a ballad of honor as a way of disguising yourself as a bard from a different college. But if that's not your style then perform haikus or tell people riddles as a way of inspiration. Sam played his character great, but that doesn't mean you can't rock your own character and have it be wonderful.

So this is something hilarious that I realized not to long ago about my character that I am currently playing in my campaign. So I'm playing as a College of Whispers Bard who has expertise in both insight and deception and I was reading about the Mantle of Whispers and it turns out that you get a +5 bonus when someone tries to see through the disguise. So on top of my stupidly high deception, I get a +5 bonus. And I pointed this out to my DM, and she just goes; 'Oh, so someone can try to see through the disguise, but it's going to be really fucking difficult.'
    'Yep'
XD Also she was the one who said 'Those of you that have expertise, fuck you.'

The two level three passives essentially give you a free disengage every time you attack, defensive flourish mixed with getting defensive duelist and a shield means that you can sometimes get an effective AC of 30, there are plenty of options for adding extra dice to attacks, and you become the king of skill proficiencies thanks to double helpings of expertise.

Bard and wizard combo. The wizard is a rapper, learning from the rap god himself, this makes firing off spells way faster.

My first time playing D&D I picked the Bard class and love it so much ^^ getting closer and closer to level 10. Since my character has a +13 persuasion and is the "mom"/leader of the group I do a LOT of roleplaying. College of Lore for me and thankfully we got a Cleric so I didn't HAVE to get revivify. I am loving my new spell Seeming, to anyone who may be in a play where your group is gonna have to be sneaky. The Seeming is spell is AMAZING. It's a level 5 spell and you can cast it on up to I believe 8-10 people where they are all disguised up to 8 hours or till you dispell and the best thing about it is that requires NO concentration.

My first ever bard, I went with College of Lore. Let me tell you, Additional Magic Secrets at level 6 can be terrifying. I think I scared half our party the first session we were level 6, when I had this sweet, innocent, 16-year-old noble girl with her silver flute suddenly tossing out fireballs.
Up until then she was pretty much the combat medic with Healing Word.

Working on a Lore Bard who multiclasses into Hexblade...
The "Lore Bard" is a character who is a Devout follower of Mystra, Goddess of Magic & Mystery. Her whole guiding story is that she might become Mystra's Chosen at some point...
...but the "Hexblade" part is that she receives whispers from Larloch, the Shadow King, whose inscrutable desires makes her wonder if the "magical secrets" she is receiving are coming from her goddess, or this ancient lich.

Of had an idea for a bard for a while now that I don't think anyone's tried before. The idea is to use skills like performance, and persuation, along with spells like glibness, and probably the collage of glamour to start a large following that you use to gain political power. Just think of how many people throughout history gained power through sheer charisma, Napoleon, Lenin, Hitler etc.

The only thing about the bard I don’t like is you don’t get fireball and can’t through any of the feats unless you multi class.
But if you have a wizard with Wish that’s not much of a problem anymore

I played a changeling collage of whispers bard. I was never the same person with any woman or man I slept with. As an added bonus I caused a lot of mischief by sleeping with people in the form of another person, essentially framing them and ruining their lives. It was fun to be evil while it lasted.

I love that you use the art from “Yisan, the wanderer bard” but the creature type on the card is actually rogue. Also his card’s ability summons animals, so he’s probably actually a Druid.

Idea: A Variant Human Bard (Whispers or Lore) who takes the Magic Initiate feat for Warlock and takes Eldritch Blast. He sings the end of "My shot" to cast it and when he points his finger upwards the beam comes out at targets.

Here's a funny thing: Symphogear is basically an anime where everyone plays a bard, since they have to literally sing when they fight. Like, that's their requirement for using their weapon. Even in space, they have to sing to use moon-blasting cannons and big-fuckoff swords.

I'd rather give bards a more broader term: bards seem to supposidely be a sort of civilian+, the cooler average guy which specialty isn't something that directly aids the quest but balance out in keeping spirits high by being artists (from painting to athletics), finance and resource management being merchants, being capable diplomats with possible noble ties or just a good smile and smooth tongue and scholars of the non-wizard fashion (ex. an archeologist or your math teacher).

Ok so I want to poll the community for my Lore Bard’s soon-to-come lv6 Magical Secrets options:
We’re a small martial heavy party, so I’m completely taking Counterspell. The party comp is:
    Conquest Paladin
Magical Trickster Rogue (she likes to play more as a fighter tho? Really strange)
Circle of Stars Druid (she and I are the two primary buffers/casters)
Our Druid is pretty heavy up on the healing and buffing side of things, so I’ve been sneaking around and debuffing my little Bugbard heart out, but I feel like if I don’t get pretty blasty soon we won’t have any AoE options. Being said, my two leads are Fireball and Spirit Guardians. I am also thinking of Pulse Wave possibly if the DM will let me? Gimme yall’s thoughts!

this made me realize for some reason that Bard who cast spell who takes opportunity attack does not get to make the attack with weapon. There fore it is Strength bonus as Unarmed strike :^) 1+-1 becaue 8 Strength is 0dmg opportunity attack :D . . . I have seen this mistaken been made as I now realize it is possibility and some rules lawyer might actually point this out.
I have seen bard cast Fireball and take 1d8 opportunity attack.
Oh I also saw Collage of Sword "If you’re proficient with a simple or martial melee weapon, you can use it as a spellcasting focus for your bard spells." who casted heat metal and hold person while wielding sword and shield which is impossible. Because you still need to perform Somatic components which can be removed with War Caster feat which would allow you to cast Hold Person while wielding sword and shield and take opportunity attacks with the weapon . . .
9 out of 10 times I think people go with rule I cast spell I still wield weapon and shield (or dual-wield weapons)
