Coolest thing ive found is a roll that was canadian coins 1940-1979 and i got 2 1953 no shoulder strap worth ≈5k and 2 with shoulder strap which is a really good find! Also alot of silver
I used to work in a convenience store, I have found many old coins both USA, and Canada coins, but the best was an 1892 columbia exposition commemorative half dollar. great find indeed!
Never seen them plastic wraps here in Florida. Found an early 50s blue nose schooner. Craziest thing ever, finding a Mercury dime in a roll of wheaties, and yup it was as dark as dark brown penny. Have better luck with customer rolls than bank rolls, some folks still turning in 40% Kennedy half’s. Dimes have been running thin for the last year or so
Never a plastic roll here in the US NJ, James. That first 68 had me fooled. My best find in a $2 junk silver purchase was a 1942-d over 41-d Mercury dime in EF condition. My best CRH find was a 1972 DDO in EF condition also. Super Great hunt, James!
Coolest find hunting coins 1914 D wheat cent, biggest dream(s) find would be the 1909 s VDB , 1877 Indian cent, 1937 D 3 leg nickel, and 1916 D mercury dime
Definitely my most improbable find while coin roll hunting was finding a dime roll with half the roll being silver, then the next day finding 9 silver quarters in the same roll including 2 US quarters. Blew my mind 😂
They are plenty in cleveland ohio that plastic wrap coin holder. I love your videos. Keep up the good work and I wish I was in canada to get all those awesome coins.😊
Thanks, Erwin! I appreciate the kind words. Interesting to see that the plastic rollers aren't exlusive to Canada, and that they might be more of a regional thing in the States. Thanks!!
7:45 I've been hunting here in the States for almost two years, and I've found quite a few interesting/improbable things beyond the "run of the mill" silver/old coins (as if silver can be run of the mill). -My most improbable find wasn't from a roll, but in the reject bin at my dump bank's coin machine: an 1878-CC Seated Liberty quarter! -Not one, but two Barber dimes in rolls this year, an 1897 and a 1901. I also found an 1897 Barber half in a box last year. -A 1911 Canadian dime -A British penny from 1903 (that one isn't quite as unique; those turn up from time to time in half dollar boxes, since they're within 1 mm of each other in diameter) -Also British, a 1966 sixpence in a box of pennies (British "silver" coins were last struck in actual silver in 1946, unfortunately) -A 1926-S buffalo nickel (the lowest mintage of the entire series, at only 970,000), albeit in terrible condition -An assortment of foreign coins (old Mexican 50 centavos, British 20 pence, et cetera) that are different shapes than American coins, yet somehow made their way into my rolls
Hey! Long time watcher of your channel (almost a year and a half), just subscribed now, i'm a beginner Canadian coin hunter from the eastcoast that started out recently early March this year. For your question, im gonna share three of my wildest finds. For my beginners luck as a improbable find, I was at work sorting out the cash register, and i broke into a roll of quarters that was bank wrapped (transit roll i assume) and i found a 1914 king george the 5th quarter, smoothed out, but beautiful, my first silver in the wild ever, and got hooked to coin hunting ! I always carry pocket change if i find anything interesting, so it was all legal haha. I started slow by going with bundles of coins after that, and soon built the courage to ask for boxes at some branches. I do quarters, dimes, and nickels, and dimes are my absolute favorite because they are chalk full of silver in my region at least, i'm up 25 silver dimes for the year! I haven't had much luck on quarters for silver(6 for the year), but i find plenty of key dates semi key dates and colour. My first silver dime was the 1967 fish(my favorite commemorative ) out of a bundle i bought at my bank, but my two most improbable finds for dimes was a 1953 silver roasie, Denver minted from a entire roll of American dimes, it was very dirty, so i think somebody missed it. Months later, i did a box, and found a 1932 panama silver balboa 1/10 dime, only 150k minted ! in amazing shape with details, and somehow ended up in the maritimes ! I love your channel, and i always watch every upload you do, i appreciate the fun videos and knowledge you bring to (lucky)novices like myself 😁
Thanks so much for commenting (and for subscribing!) - I really appreciate it! You've had some great finds. That KG5 dime is a crazy find in dimes! Something I've never found. I had a similar experience to you with your US Dimes. I picked up a bundle of dimes from the bank and two of them were complete US dimes. Each roll had 1 silver dime in it. It was just before I started my RUclips channel. That would have been a great hunt to do a video on!
I love the Blue Nose commemorative dimes! They just can’t be found here in the states. The best thing I ever found was an 1865 3 cent nickel in a dime roll!
It's going to be hard to top that one, Abeer!! Do you have any pics of those coins? I'd love to do a little shout-out in one of my videos of your awesome find. It's exactly the reason why we coin roll hunt! Let me know if you'd be up for that!
My coolest US dime find was a 1982 with no mintmark. Starting in 1980, every dime produced by the US was supposed to have either a P or D mintmark on the circulated coins. In 1982 Something happened at the Philadelphia mint and a number of coins were released with no mintmark.
Great video as always. Craziest find for me was a 2007 50 cent Euro from Slovenia on the street in my small town in Nova Scotia . Another strange find recently was from RBC when I picked up some nickel rolls; one was a plastic RBC nickel "pincher" from 1970s. Congrats on your win from HSWO. 🎆
Thanks @bhringer! I've gotten a few of those Pincher rolls over the years. Whenever I see one I get excited! And it was a nice surprise to win one of the giveaways on his epic stream!
@@CADRollHunter WRT plastic wrappers; for about 2 years paper wrappers weren't available at the usual retail outlets (only flat paper wrappers from bank). Clerk at local pharmacy said the plastic were just a replacement, they also said now that paper is available again the plastic ones may get banned same as a number of the other plastic products.
3 silver in your box! That is great! Canadian dimes are good for me as well, with silver. The latest ones are a 1968 50%, quite nice, and a 1955 80%. However, the most surprising things I found in dimes lately, was a bacnk planchet with a little bit of circulation marks (scuffs), and it weigh 1.75g, so it must be a modern blank planchet for 2001&up dimes. I also found, last month, a 1999P dime! At first I thought it was as rare as the 2000P, and that I had hit an instang jackpot, but upon checking on Internet, this one sells $10 to $15, and was issued only in exerimental sets in 1999 testing the new steel planchets. Still, it is a great find. Last week, I got a box of white machine quarter rolls, and upon checking, some old coins were included, so I took it since it means it's not ARP. Not as many old coins as the hand customer wrapped rolls, but I did find so far 2 x 1970 quarters, where 1 is AU or better, and, believe it or not, a 2008 colorized Santa Claus quarter! I checked, and this one is minted in the 45000 or so examples, so 10 x more rare than the 1991. These were issued in special gift sets, and there are some made each year, as well as for Canada Day. It seems a collection dump has been scattered through this batch of 2001+ machine wrapped quarters (average of only 1-2 older in each roll). I still have 10 rolls or so to open, and I think they'll be a delight to check hoping there is another goodie... American quarters are a bit larger than Canadian in diameter, so they don't fit well in plastic holders, so I believe it's why these didn't survive for long in USA. I can determine by touch if there is a USA quarter in a roll, when I feel a small bump when I pass my fingernail on the edges. I do this also on machine wrapped rolls, meaning if I find just one that has USA, I can assume there is old Canadian too... Let's wish us good luck to save more silver, and other goodies, from the ARP monsters!! Have you ever found a Santa Claus coin, Canada Day, or other mint set-only coin, while CRH?
You can always start small. Next time you're in, just ask for 5 rolls of each denomination. They wil probably sell them to you without blinking an eye!
@@CADRollHunterit was a video about that coin that got me into coin roll hunting last year. I was trembling when I was looking at it under my magnifier
Incredible! I would absolutely be trembling, too,@@patduford3488. Why did you decide to sell? How much did you end up getting for it - it's one of the rarest, most storied coins in Canadian history! Congrats, and thanks for sharing your story!!
@@CADRollHunter Thank you. Long story short I am not a collector, although I get why people do, I am in it for the thrill of the hunt. it went on the low end of 5 figures (there was a big scratch on the obverse, the consensus is it was from a parking meter or gumball machine). Plastic rollers were available in the US during the mid to late 1980s. They were not popular and quickly disappeared. The clasp failures required taping rolls, which led to their disappearance. I have found several proof coins in my searches. Nothing valuable, but definitely surprising.

Here in the states I’ve found a roll or nearly a full roll of silver 5 or 6 times in my life & I consider that lucky. I barely ever find silver anymore, unless you count war nickels.
I'd love to find a US large cent - I found found one in a bag of metal detecting coins I bought once from an antique shop. It was in pretty poor condition, of course, but still a cool find! Keep looking, I know you'll find some Mercs!
My best find was actually a canadian 1926 far 6 nickel! I couldn’t believe it! Great hunt- three Silvers!!!!!!
