ABOUT THIS GAME
On the morning of the 6th June 1944 the Western Allies began the largest seaborne invasion in the history of warfare. D-Day would mark the start of a vicious campaign to wrestle North West Europe from German control. The following months would see the ancient fields, farms and villages serve as a battleground for new, lethal weapons that would become legendary.
The Troop follows the campaign of British and Canadian forces as they face the German Heer and SS in Normandy. Take command of infantry, motorised and armoured units in desperate tactical turn-based combat against an AI opponent that is challenging and unpredictable, but fair and fallible.
Simple, complete control - The Troop embraces the best traditions of classic tabletop war gaming combined with the interactivity and excitement the digital format affords. You have complete control over your units' actions; tanks will not expose their weak side armour with unexpected pathing, hidden guns will not reveal their positions by firing prematurely, infantry will not flee inexplicably when victory is a few heroic paces away. Your AI opponent has no special knowledge and is subject to all the same rules and restrictions as you. You are free to take your time... but any mistakes are yours and yours alone.
Choose your difficulty, play as you want - The Troop does not have one difficulty setting. Instead players can control a variety of feature and information settings to tailor their gameplay experience for the most enjoyable challenge.
A game, not a simulation - The Troop is born from a life long passion for WW2 history and turn-based games. Our aim is to give a little glimpse of that history through an enjoyable challenge. The events depicted are set in the broad reality of the historical campaigns, the missions themselves however are fictional and geared towards an enjoyable challenge rather than a strict depiction of history. We hope only to do justice to the spirit of those countless memoirs and after action reports that survive and continue to fascinate us.

>Stug-III crew after missing a M5 Stuart at point blank range.
Shermanator: "75% chance! What are you drinking!?"
Stug-III Crew: "Bier."
Must be that 8-9% stuff
Probably a lot of Schnaps at that range :D
Or Schnapps!
Would love if there was a coop mode or something. My dad is a ww2 buff and we tend to play a lot of turn based stuff together. This looks right up his street.
COOP sounds like it would be fun!
Did Chickens serve in WW2? I know that pigeons were used.
@@Grandmastergav86 yes, they served in logistics, as food.
Would love to see this with a campaign map involved
YES!
The game looks fun! I downloaded the demo but have yet to play it. Hopefully it releases with a good amount of content. The dev said they were going into early access in December.
I hope we see more!
Finally someone took Steel Panthers and gave it modern 3d graphics. Hope to see more. Good job!
Thanks, will do!
"Steel Panthers" sounds like good old days :)
makes me remember "a bridge too far", that was great game!
YES!
Ya, I feel that this game is the 3D successor to the Close Combat series. I'm want to take a closer look at the game. Thanks for the video!
16:17 75% WHAT ARE YOU DRINKING?!?!
Schnapps I guess haha
99 percent chance..miss😂
P.s I think the missions need a bit of work but very tempted to get this.
Does it remind you of XCOM as well? :D
@@alekjanowski9847 At least in pathfinder can see my rolls. RNG😂
(+15 to attack you need a 3 rolls 5 twos)
@@MauriceTarantulas Best to not provoke, otherwise the Rngeesus will snap your fu**ing neck while sleeping 😃
Really reminds me of XCOM too
sick video
o7o7
This is really cool, reminds me of Bolt Action in a way
I was thinking the same thhing
yep. feels very close
Yea!
He was drinking Schnapps. Just so you know.
lmao musta been
Reminds me of the old combat mission games. Just an updated version of them, Not a bad thing. Loved those games
Kind of yeah? Smaller scale though, which is fine
Used to love that game, especially the battle editor.
Wow, been looking for a new WW2 game...thanks for posting
I gotchu!
that backshot of the stug 😏
:D
I was hoping this did not have the Xcom fever lol oh wait maybe it was the wind lol
XCOM is awesome tho
This is like flames of war on pc. Awesome. :)
Yeah its great!
Yeah, I love it when there's interlap between tabletop games and PC games!
This game has so much potential especially if they focus on Canadian, UK and Polish forces for defensive battles against the large Panzer divisions and the Falaise Gap....Hopefully future battles focus on the Dutch lowlands with Airborne and the historical British XXX Corp for the "bridge to far"
I cant wait to see this expand to Eastern Europe and other battles too!
all the years playing BURNING BRIDGES, DEADLY DESERT, FROZEN FRONT, PACIFIC FRONT... FINALLY
haha
"Rains comin'."
And it hurts
Steel Panthers 3D?
Sort of yeah
XCom all over again!
yup.
25% chance... One shot the alien.
100% chance at point blank.
Missed! lol
Haha yea
Wow.
Another WW2 game.
Coooooool.
And I love it, and yes I know you were being sarcastic
Reminds me of the Close Combat series...but obviously not RTS... I may have to grab this
I was thinking that too!
This has been on my wishlist since it appeared in Steam.
Early release should be close!
Thanks for the video it's always nice to check out other games!
More than welcome James!
It's remind me of Daysenryaku!! Back then, I was in love with that game hahaha
Looks interesting tho.
Cant say Ive heard of that, if its anything like this it must be cool!
"As the defender, you don't get to set up your units" Seriously? It is absolutely incomprehensible to me why a designer would force the player to follow the exact scenario setup. For me the one fatal flaw of so many wargames is that they require the player to play the game exactly the way the designer wants you to play, setting up scenarios like a puzzle for which there is only one good solution. This game looks very interesting but if as a player you don't have freedom to do things your way, I'll pass
Well that was this specific battle, seems like sometimes you can
This reminds me of Steel Panthers. Hopefully it will have PBEM PvP capability.
I hope some PvP to any degree, that would be awesome
To the initiated, it is a STUG.
Yes
Wow, Battle Academy gameplay with graphics cranked to 11. Super interested in this game.
Hell yeah man!
Nice game but serious probs with the interface-- needs hot key for quick LOS toggle.
Difficult to see/select units in woods. Definitely like the graphics in tank combat
Oh Id like a toggle key like that for sure
This looks like a very old game called A Bridge Too Far. Especially with the Green Move Points
I used to love Close Combat if thats the game you mean!
@@theShermanator Yes !
I havent seen something like this since Koutetsu No Kishi (Steel Knights) 2 and 3 .
I cant say I ever heard of that
Great video, this is a very interesting game
Thanks man, am very excited to see more of this!
@@theShermanator you inspired me to download the demo myself. I'll be doing a cheeky live stream of it myself in a few hours. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
Looks really fun. I'll probably try it out.
Hell yah!
Would love this on console
that would be cool, and doable I think
They need to go see opticians
Haha yeah, cant all have my 20/10 vision
How did you make them skip the move animation?
just lmb
I dont think this is cinematic, Graviteam Tactics is 1000% more cinematic
Sadly also a lot more complicated
New Sub, Interesting. Is this on Steam?
Hi Ken, thanks for the new sub! Yes and no, the WW2 Combat Mission games are not on Steam yet but Shock Force 2, Black Sea and Cold War are all on Steam now
so basically its COH and they made it turn based
XCOM but WW2 yeah
looks good
Oh yeah!
Not availible in my region steam says very sad i would have instantly bought this
Its not on sale yet, if you are in Germany you should hopefully get access "soon"
Big fat mistake there on the game menu as it shows the Canadian flag which was selected in the late 1960s instead of the Red Ensign from 1939-45 - pretty sloppy.
Well its an indy dev team but yah
Good vid sherman
Tx man!
Love your videos
Thanks bud 🙏
Looks like a dream coming true!
Unfortunately it is not available in Germany. Do you know if this will be released later?
In my video today I talk about it, its currently not available but should be later!
Looks promising...the games page on Steam however is not available in my country atm
Weird
It looks fun, although it's disappointing to me that while tabletop games have moved toward abandoning IGO-UGO, you still don't see that in computer games. Someone mentioned Combat Mission below -- I still haven't found anything to replace it. Once you've played WEGO it's hard to go back to anything else. I used to love Steel Panthers -- until I played CM.
Turn based is kinda cool, like XCOM, but I play a lot of RTS games too
Looks awesome other than the practically black & white graphics. What's up with that?
Think it's the artstyle they're going for
Mad hans
Hans is mad
I worry whenever a videogame is branded "cinematic"
Were you right to worry? Im in suspense and interested
Wonder if there'll be large scale engagements and air battles too....
Would be cool to see a really large battle
Combat mission is that you ?
Haha but sadly there is no real new WW2 combat mission afaik, Cold War is cool though!
Good play bro ❤️
Tx man
Silly Question I know, But what is the Name of this Game ?
The Troop
@@theShermanator It Looks Very Cool !
Bloody hell, the game is not available in Germany. I wonder why >_>
Weird :/
Original markings?
When this game will be available on steam for Germany?
Soon hopefully, I want to touch on this in my next video!
Typical RNG
Perceived 90% = 10% Actual
XD
Why the hell its not purchasable in Germany :( Really sad....
Im not sure :/
Is multiplayer possible`? Only way I can enjoy a game like this
Im not sure if its on their list of stuff to get done for now sadly
game looks interesting, but its not available in germany....
I explain why in my next video on the game, sadly it has to do with censorship and the fact this isnt the full release of the game
What's the game called ? looks good
"The Troop" I link it in the description
"Cinematic".
Those camera angled are pretty unique and cinematic looking imo
Downloaded the game after your previous movie about the game, but only got the first five levels for some reason😐
Idk, I got the same version as the one from the store
can you play as axis?
Yeah clearly you can as you can see 👀
Is this a special access given to you for the devs seeing as you can play as germans?
Not that I know of lmao, I just got the one from the store!
@@theShermanator The demo right? Odd I can only play the first 5 missions as the UK...
been playing a lot of xcom lately. This seems like a new favourite
Oh I love it!
I love WW2 games but why do they always have to be grey?
People complain that CoH3 is too colourful haha
@@theShermanator lol I was actually happy about the color... but Relic has mismanaged aoe4 so poorly I don't think I will be buying it
finally i can play as the good guys
lmao
Played demo. Too kludgy. I don't have the patience for turn-based games like this.
Fair enough
Is this the full version?
I think its a full demo version
Hey can I play it on M1 MacBook?
Im not sure!
Can you play as US Campaign ?
Theres no US (yet)
so Sherm you are not the only one doing this but why can you not put the name of the game in the title? If you want to showcase a game why do you not show the name of it?
As far as I am aware its what RUclips seems to want, just following the trend my friend
plz stop saying Sturmgeschütz xD
Am I saying it wrong? I usually get told my German is decent
How much does the game costs?
No clue, its not for sale yet
@@theShermanator oh ok thank you
RNG looks like total BS in this game.
Not different from XCOM afaik
Game looks great, too bad the devs are not good at buisness and wont bring it out globally. I mean you have the Germans as a major faction and then you dont bring out your game in Germany? What the hell?
Because of the German censorship I think they are working on it, but im not sure
@@theShermanator
Yeah but there is no German censorship preventing these games to release here. I dont get why publishers and developers act like its forbidden to show that stuff in Germany. I mean it is when you use it for propaganda, but not when you use it for art. And games are art (as decided by one of our highest courts).
Had to turn it off after watching a 94% chance then a 75% chance to hit miss. Next game please.
Lmao thats just rng man, games like this are like XCOM2 where it can happen
Just another crappy World War 2 strategy game. They forgot to make shooting games these days.
There are some decent WW2 shooters out there, personally I like this :)
Christ.. Another developer that doesnt have the balls to use historical flags.
A small dev, apparently waiting to get it tested in Germany.. I dont blame them wanting to not be able to sell their eventual game in the country
`
,,,
Too X-Com, random chances just do not work on PCs. I don't know why developers still design with that.
I like it, XCOM is great
Don’t like turn based…not realistic.. war doesn’t happen in turns. Would be a great game if you played in real time.. like the Close Combat series
I personally like having some more time to think if the game gives it, Combat Mission allows players to choose real time or turn based and I think having that choice would be cool
holy shit this game need some color... looks so grey and boring
Its very film noir-y heh?
