while I do not disagree on the need counsellors & clinical psychologist ,an important aspect that ex DGH NH articulated that we need to focus and rely on facts, data and science in mitigating the pandemic. how much data and science had we amassed ? we need to build up our capacity for scientific research for the last and future pandemic. we need to introduce & build a workforce of physician scientists ie (clinician also trained basic medical science). most relevant is science of immunity ( immunology) clinical immunologist would be the physician scientist as the practice in richer economies. the next is clinical geneticist eg molecular virologist. beside clinical epidemiologist as mentioned in the interview….We have procrastinated long enough..
I really enjoyed how eloquent and articulate he spoke, n explaining everything. I do hope that white paper approach can be agreed upon by the bipartisan parties can be achieved soon, so that KKM can focus on building strength of their department. After all, KKM is the heart of the rakyat.

as much as he did good for the Nation health he did overlook the need to recognise new areas of clinical medicine , which is the culmination of new findings & innovation of medical research worldwide , add value to local patient care notable being Clinical immunology & clinical pharmacology. Thankfully clinical genetics had been recognised by NSR . hopefully the present DG will do better. ps. in these days of polypharmacy and its adverse reaction.. advise on its prevention and adjustment should come in handy. Clinical immunologist are best manage primary immunodeficiencies which is increasingly reported with severe morbidity and mortality in this country.
Even though im just a pharmacy student, im very impressed by DG Hashim in terms of giving his ideas to improve the country’s healthcare👍🏼 Would really love to be like him one day🫡👍🏼
