Khang you are the best, taught me so much! Thank you for the content. Just wanted to throw out there for anyone, I accidentally broke a jalapeno seedling in half this year and instead if throwing it away I put it in a beer bottle full of water under the grow light and it sprouted roots from its stem after a few days and is still alive and thriving after transplanting outdoors 10 days ago.
I did the same thing with a Naga, put it in water for a week and it had small roots, fed it with compost tea and it grew rapidly, now it's planted out and thriving.
You have just broken my brain. There’s no drainage, and that’s a way smaller container than I thought you needed for peppers. And I thought you had to protect roots from light exposure?? But there’s no arguing that the plants look gorgeous and it’s a great recycling/upcycling idea!! And by god, turning booze bottles into planters seems like the ultimate pandemic craft!
Thanks for telling us about the set up you use for growing. I was the one who asked in a previous video. I enjoyed this video. I would probably use one of my juice glass bottles for this. It has a wide neck.
So cool! I have 4 pepper plants on my windowsill in an awesome container as well. I can believe the amount of root growth i have seen! Also a decent amount of flowers too but i think i need more light for the plants.
This is very cool! Thanks for the idea. I guess it can't be grown outside though because if it rains it wont be able to drain it unless like you said to tip it over but would easily get flooded if you're not around to check
Hi Khang. Once again a novelty! I love watching your tutorials and have been growing chillies for some time. A question - can these bottles be kept outdoors as well, if I don't want to keep them under the growing lights? Thanks.
awesome dude! I'm experimenting with lots of different sized containers this year since I've only got a patio, you've been an inspiration. I've got like 12 espolon tequila bottles waiting for me on top of the cabinet and a dozen chili sprouts I need to transplant.
Really like the idea! I have a load of 1 gallon (4.5L) DemiJohns think I might give it a go with a few of them. How deep would you suggest the watering tube should go on the bottle?
Hey this is my first year using grow lights (English summer) and second year topping. Had stunning results last year from topping, so many finger chillis. This year I have Caribbean Habanero Habenerno Orange Magnum and 3 Chocolate Bhutlah. (Which are a pain in the butt. ) I will be planting them out in the next two weeks in a green house, thinking of putting them in a wooden planter which has a combi of compost and manure. ? I also have 4 10L fabric pots, which I have never used. The Bhutlah are so small I may put 2 in one 10L pot ??
I love this method! Especially since soil can be so expensive. Apparently I need to start saving Vodka bottles. Lol You also gave me the courage to top my pepper plants that just started to bare fruit. 😙😙😙
Thanks for actually demonstrating how you top off and trim your plants. Because based upon how you initially described it, I imagined it differently until I saw you do it and then I was like, "Ohh..." BTW, since you use a lot of those Ozarka bottles, wouldn't using the neck piece you cut off as a funnel be easier to get the soil into your bottles? And I really thought you were going to go kratky with the bottles so you surprised me when you added dirt! LOL
I was just looking at some wine bottles today and wondering how I could use them for plant containers. I don't see any sense in this video, though. So I looked in comments and somebody said use a bottle to grow roots on a cutting. Okay, that sounds like a good idea.
The consequence here is that the confined space of the bottle functions as a limiter on the growth of the plant ergo it stays a smaller plant, that - due to quickly running out of rooting space - will go into flowering quicker (can be a benefit as well depending on what you want). Also, some peppers will be more suited than others.
So what do you do with the bottle and dirt etc. once the plant is done producing? Would this method work for things like bell peppers? I'm not so into the hot pepper, but would love to try this for bell peppers!
Interesting concept. I had a similar thought and im glad to see you do it. I plan on cutting the bottle's narrow neck off and use the bottom half. What are your thoughts on using gravel or pebbles at the bottom inch or so in the bottle? It could be for decoration or have a useful function as a reservoir.
I like this idea. I have a lot of empty bottles to use. Maybe I'll throw a collard in one and see if I can get it to tree out in a glass Malibu bottle.
The pebbles won't work as a reservoir at all, since water would wick up the pebbles and into the soil until it is consantly at 100% capacity. Any visible water in the pebble/ gravel zone would mean the soil is waterlogged.
Khang, you clearly have some very diverse tastes! Beautiful way to re-purpose study glass containers. Under light, the roots exposed to the indirect light do not appear to be impacted by the light. If such a "clear" container with soil were set outside, would the sunlight hitting the side of the containers burn off the root tips (not heat related)? Like the pointers of topping / trimming those big beautiful healthy light hungry lower leaves. Hope all is well with you and your family. Happy Gardening! -Bob...
I have a few growing in 1.5 Liter coke bottles, and they are producing peppers and growing just fine, even with the sun beating down on the roots. I will make sure to show it and mention your question in the next update.
@@KhangStarr Here I am setting up to also try with some of those gallon or 5 quart ice cream buckets with a DIY soil mix. May try with a Mason jar also. Have been known to wrap weed fabric around clear plastic such as apple sauce containers where the lids just happen to be a good fit for 2" net pots.
Do you have a follow up on how they did? I am about to do this with some carolima reapers, and since it is kind of late to get started in Texas, was thinking this would be a good option.
Not exactly the way that I've been using my bottles (I've been cutting mine with a Dremel and using net cups in hydro) but I might go this route in the future as It's getting tiresome changing nutrients all the time.
four roses small batch? great tastes khang. how you feel aabout barrel proof/cask strength? i just got some knob creek cask strength rye the other day. a little pricey but really good
I love barrel proof or cask strength, that's usually the only things I buy these days. I recently picked up a bottle of Pinhook Bohemian Bourbon. These are easy to get, around $50, and delicous!
Hey Khang, Just one question, do you eat all them peppers you grow? Or do you sell them, just wondering cuz I havn't met somebody other than me that loves them lil treats.I have them for breakfast, lunch Dinner or a quick snack😜...love your videos, keep it up bro......
I do share them with friends and family. I also make lots of hotsauce and dry power that will last for a very long time. I also freeze them so I can have chilis in Winter months.
Me yesterday telling my husband he drinks too much.
Me today buying my husband a case of scotch.
lol

Holy cow that pepper plant is a beast! Insane growth in such a short amount of time.
Ok , you have inspired me . I’m going to try it . Looks like a cool way to grow a plant . Really like the pruning method and idea behind it .

I've got some extra ghost pepper seedlings & nowhere to put them...I'm doing this! Thank you Khang, I really enjoy your video's.
This is a great idea! Drink, recycle bottle to grow food! I love this!
Wow !!! This is so cool and so ingenious nice work and as always thanks for sharing

great work with those mini plants. I don't know how you do that so well.
I think this might be the next challenge for PLC ;). Four roses small batch is excellent bourbon. Another One! very cool video Khang.
I would call them bonsa pepper tree's. Beautifully done.

that looks ace, i'll have to give it a go
What a wonderful channel! So many useful informations! Im happy and my indoor chili plants will probably also be happy :)
Great idea to use the bottle for gardening. Im actually using plastic bottles for my plant i didint know that theres a use for whiskey bottle too😄
Thanks. It's a great video, very informative.
Awesome video. Maybe a funnel would help with filling the bottles with soil?
I tried it, but this handfuls-into-bottle method worked faster. One less thing to clog!

It looks like a very fun project😁🙂.

Should I top my pepper twice Kang? As in the big side shoots ? Many thanks .
and would you recommend me for doing this setup for outside?
This would be a fun gift
Всем привет✋👋 Отличная идея с бутылками красивыми! 👍😊Мне понравилось! 🤝 Обязательно тоже так попробую. Спасибо.
keep up the amazing work
Good job sir!
Hey, nice vid, i'd like to try it also. But how big are the medical pipettes you are using? 5 or 3ml?
Is there an advantage to cutting the dropper tops at an angle like you did, or is a straight cut fine as well?
Nice brother .. I inspired 👌🏻 sure I ll try 💪🏻
What's the size of the containers? I would love to have a couple snacking peppers in larger mason jars indoors year round!
What should the ppm level be when doing hydroponic in a jar thanks
two of my favorite hobbies
Nice setup.

Do you keep the light on 24/7? Do you trim them the same as you would an outside plant?
Bonne idée de faire pousser les plantes dans des bouteilles, bravo
I like this idea.
Nice film 😀
Nice, I have to try this. What size of medicine dropper did you use (ml)?
"It has, like, a bottleneck"
....ye dont say :D
Amazing !
You have good taste when it comes to bourbon. Four Rose's small batch select is so good!
Thanks! I should do a whiskey/Whisky tour =)
Is that 2 sets of true leafs? Getting close I have 1 set of true leafs and the starting set of leafs.
I have grown a pepper plant in a gallon glass bottle. Green mossy mold has been growing on the glass. Any tips on how to clean that?

That should work. I can imagine how pretty that will look.
I like this idea. Like a lil terrarium. I have horticultural charcoal I need to do something with.

Does your grow tent have vents, fans etc?
What about root rot? When the plant is small how do you water it and get the water to the roots without having to fill up the whole bottle?
Beautiful

1- Why are you giving them nutrients if they are in soil?
2- Wont the plants eventually grow and break the bottle?
How do you stop mold growing inside the bottle?
I’m wondering can you fill with dirt all the way to the top then drop in one seed? It seems like it would be easier than transplant a tiny plant.
Do you have a follow up on how they did? I am about to do this with some carolima reapers, and since it is kind of late to get started in Texas, was thinking this would be a good option.
I didn't do an update video, but I posted many updated pictures on my IG
Because roots just love light!
nice videos .... one question..these are not Bell Peppers (the big ones) right, but more like chilli peppers (the smaller hot ones)?
How long can they continue to grow? Do the roots become to much for the bottle?
Will this work in water as well?
What size pipette is that in the bottle? 3ml?
how many watts do you have over that plant?
What happened to the Kingbo light?
Lol i save bottles n throw outbn keep i might do this i hot a grow tent small to start
Nice!
What is the worm cast tea?

I always know I've had too much whiskey when I start calling it whishey🥃😁🥃
I know when i have had too much alcohol when i start seeing this many empty bottles 😂
When I see a video like this I know there is a reason to drink more.
I must've had too much "whishey" when I uploaded this video LOL
Khang Starr no such thing 🥃, going to have to try this with some of my Bourbon bottles
🤣🤣🤣
Is the tent inside your house or garage?
Would this work hydroponically?
You could probably also drill a few holes into those bottles for drainage, maybe even add a wick.
Surprising how little air the roots can survive on :)

What's your favorite method for growing peppers and why?
How are the root getting oxygen?
I gotta drink again so i can have empty bottles!😆
Funny!!!
@Saltyyy Kush420 drinking is a waste of time and resources.
@@heleavesthe99 yeah & there is a chance, plants will live longer...
Why don‘t you grow them as hydroponics in these bottles? Why do you use soil?
Cool!
Can someone tell me how the drainage works when planting with a whisky bottle?
Can I do this with seeds?
Bravo 👏👏

Yay khang starr
Now this guy gets it! 2 of my favorite things!
I tried to do this from seed but it just doesn't grow. Maybe it's because Habanero peppers are slow growers?
When are you gonna up load updates?
