I done this and I didn't cut the wires ,just spliced on to them ,your makeing a big thing out of it ,the hardest part is getting the bloody thing off ,,,I cleared the errors and it worked out fine.

These connectors you have used are piece of shit imo. Soldering in this case is much accurate.
