    Texans did right and gave Slowik and Johnson both a raise. Class move and a sign of further maturity from the Texans org. Cal McNair has grown up quite a bit as an owner after those really brutal early years after his father died.

      Slowik needs to coach CJ again so he has his choice of Head Coaching jobs which is likely to happen.

    When talking about the internal promotion, that was a great opportunity to talk about Jerrod Johnson staying as the qb coach when he was getting looked at for oc positions.

    These young, talented coordinators are demonstrating how smart they actually are by making their career choices based upon their own thought processes and NOT what the media narrative wants them to do.
    These young coordinators are realizing how a winning hand as a young coordinator with a successful QB and squad is better than the losing hand as an HC of a sht show.

    Classy move by the Texans to give raises and taking care of their people. Cal McNair has always said money is not an issue and this is further proof of that statement. Keep in mind Lovie Smith and David Culley are still on the Texans payroll for a few more years. So was Brian Gain’s salary when he went back to Buffalo.

    I think Slowik made the right decision. He has a fantastic team, a super star QB and an amazing head coach. He showed a lot of potential but still recognized that he is a rookie himself and has a phenomenal opportunity to learn from Demeco and grow within the organization. That thought process, maturity and patience is going to make him an excellent head coach one day.

    A little surprised, maybe a little not surprised at how this is going. I would think that a the Commanders job would be very attractive for a HC candidate with an Offense background, given the 2nd overall pick in upcoming draft and chance to get a potential franchise QB. But I could also imagine B Johnson and B Slowik not wanting to step into a situation with an established OC in Eric Bienemy that they might not be able to replace with one of their own guys.

    • @rayontita1912
      @rayontita1912 11 месяцев назад +4

      Well...that's an easy fix. They wouldn't hesitate to let Bieniemy go. The truth is that these guys may not feel ready, and want another season to take it to a new level with their respective offenses. Another year of experience will do them a world of good.

    Worth noting that five teams also opted not to hire both Slowik and Johnson. Maybe they didn’t interview well, came across as noncommittal or a bit raw in the case of the former? Ownership of this outcome might not be all their own, as much as Florio wants to portray it that way.

    Im sorry but this topic right here is EXACTLY the kind of bias that us Detroit lions fan have have to deal with for my 50 yrs!
    Ben Johnson twice, in 2 seperate yrs does what ur saying about Slowik, BUT its the 2 completely opposite opinions. Ben Johnson is stupid for not snatching up any HC gig he can but Slowik is a genius for staying!?
    WTF guys, really? Johnson is 37 yrs old and imo maybe not ready for such a big jump in responsibility and Campbell was an Asst HC for 5 yrs and learned from one of the best HC in sean payton. Slowik staying to get some more experience is a smart move??
    This absolutely shows that all these "football" analysts absolutely have different feelings, thoughts and opinions when talking Detroit and its just par for the course for fans of the lions to ALWAYS hear stuff like this!
    Idk why nobody wants to believe johnson is happy where hes at and wants to win with the lions and HIS unfinished business doing that! Its so hard for ppl to unterstand whats its actually like being happy with their job and money is of course a big thing, but its not the end all be all, Johnson is a very high paid OC so i just dont get why ppl cant understand that a person can be happy where they are at! Also he is confident in himself and thats not a trait that everyone has bcuz most ppl are greedy and will take the money even when they may not be ready... we see it every yr in HC!
    Johnson stupid
    Slowik genius
    Yet BOTH did the same fucking thing!!

    • @xnvaznx
      @xnvaznx 11 месяцев назад

      Slowik was a first time OC and play caller this season and certainly needs more experience as an OC. This is similar to Johnson last year. There was a video from another channel that also mentioned Johnson's family is happy in Detroit and was not ready to move. Either way it's good for both fanbases to have continuity.
