Bobby Slowik reportedly agrees to new deal with Houston Texans | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC

Texans did right and gave Slowik and Johnson both a raise. Class move and a sign of further maturity from the Texans org. Cal McNair has grown up quite a bit as an owner after those really brutal early years after his father died.
Slowik needs to coach CJ again so he has his choice of Head Coaching jobs which is likely to happen.
You nailed it we know about the coaches they learn from on another, but a good point about Cal McNair.. he gets to learn from a winning team.
You mean the years in which he wanted to fire Easterby, but Easterby said lets pray on it first, and god told him to tell McNair he didn’t want McNair to fire him.
Yeah, not hard to grow past that, but thankfully he did.
@@Syst3m04 yeah, as if you know the story outside of guesses. None of that is on any record...just people like you speculating about something and claiming it is some sort of absoulte reality. Easterby had a hand in getting him here....but Easterby was gone in two years, and by the second one he had no real power...but feel free to pretend to know the private details that is only gossip and speculation
@@DianaRussia531 apart from pro football talk and sports illustrated sure. Easterby was a disaster for years and played on McNairs faith by pretending to be some sort of religious guru praying in team meetings and firing anyone who disagreed with him.
I’m just glad we finally have someone competent at GM, and a solid HC. I figure we’ll probably lose Slowik next year, but we’ll see.
When talking about the internal promotion, that was a great opportunity to talk about Jerrod Johnson staying as the qb coach when he was getting looked at for oc positions.
I agree! I’m so excited for the future of the Texans, with the internal side of things being consistent to some degree. It was looking a bit scary earlier.
It would've been a whole lot to replace if its the OC AND QB coach. Great to see em both coming back.
I want a Texans vs Lions Super Bowl next year.
Your on to something
CJ Stroud effect. Theyre building something special in Houston
Stroud is overrated. He was propped up by a top 5 OLine and stud wideouts like Noah Brown and Xavier Hutchinson
@@crustylust3490 nice satire 😂
Exactly even Mahomes would look like an MVP in that offense !
No love for the coaching that was with shanny for the past 5 seasons
@@crustylust3490boy talk about being a clown.
I LOVE IT!!!!
These young, talented coordinators are demonstrating how smart they actually are by making their career choices based upon their own thought processes and NOT what the media narrative wants them to do.
These young coordinators are realizing how a winning hand as a young coordinator with a successful QB and squad is better than the losing hand as an HC of a sht show.
Classy move by the Texans to give raises and taking care of their people. Cal McNair has always said money is not an issue and this is further proof of that statement. Keep in mind Lovie Smith and David Culley are still on the Texans payroll for a few more years. So was Brian Gain’s salary when he went back to Buffalo.
Watching Chris Simms' eyes go up-and-down the whole time is something I can't unsee
Hahaha now I can’t unsee it 😂
Too many OCs jump at the first head coaching job after one year of success as a coordinator
....and sometimes no matter how great an OC a person is or for how long, they'll probably always be trash as a head coach ala Josh McDaniel.
Welcome back Bobby $$$ 🎉🎉
get Jerrod ready to be OC in ‘25
Texans are special , I don’t see any team in the AFC that is going to better in the 2024 season, Do yall understand what we just accomplished, AFC south champs , Won 10 games to the Divisional round in a first season tenured , Let’s Go Texans 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
We was one catch away from being the worst team in the league last season. And even this year we had a paper thin roster. Literally no possible way for there not to be an improvement every season for many seasons to come. Mahomes is sweating this thing.,
Seems like less coaching openings this year.
Houston has something special building. Love how DeMeco helped change the narrative.
Would have loved to have him as head coach in Atlanta but we went with a retread nobody we already fired a few years ago.
I think Slowik made the right decision. He has a fantastic team, a super star QB and an amazing head coach. He showed a lot of potential but still recognized that he is a rookie himself and has a phenomenal opportunity to learn from Demeco and grow within the organization. That thought process, maturity and patience is going to make him an excellent head coach one day.
Good analysis on Slowik
A little surprised, maybe a little not surprised at how this is going. I would think that a the Commanders job would be very attractive for a HC candidate with an Offense background, given the 2nd overall pick in upcoming draft and chance to get a potential franchise QB. But I could also imagine B Johnson and B Slowik not wanting to step into a situation with an established OC in Eric Bienemy that they might not be able to replace with one of their own guys.
Well...that's an easy fix. They wouldn't hesitate to let Bieniemy go. The truth is that these guys may not feel ready, and want another season to take it to a new level with their respective offenses. Another year of experience will do them a world of good.
Potential QB is hard to stack up against proven QB.
Slow has a for sure generational qb in stroud already lol no need to leave
Slowik going to leave after next season then Jerrod going to take over OC
Wise decision, keep CJ around the same people he’s only gonna grow. Let’s make some noise and free agency and the draft.
With slowik back another year slowik can take CJ both together as a force can go to a championship and possibly to a Super Bowl.
Bobby Slowik is working along with Rookie Coach Demeco so he is getting the to se what is like to be HC and he will be a good one for sure!
Bring it on Florio! If we’re the measuring stick team, come on and get plugged😂 Vikings will blow again next year
YEEESSSSS!!!!! I'M STROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!!
Oh thank you Jesus!!
This sucks in a way. I mean, he was pretty good for a rookie, but the rookie he lucked into, the one who made him worth a raise...he ain't gettin' anything extra.
CJ's payday is coming. I could see him going the Tom Brady route with his contracts though.
Worth noting that five teams also opted not to hire both Slowik and Johnson. Maybe they didn’t interview well, came across as noncommittal or a bit raw in the case of the former? Ownership of this outcome might not be all their own, as much as Florio wants to portray it that way.
Real nice dream 💭 and then you wake up. Texans aren’t one player away…yet
Wtf
Im sorry but this topic right here is EXACTLY the kind of bias that us Detroit lions fan have have to deal with for my 50 yrs!
Ben Johnson twice, in 2 seperate yrs does what ur saying about Slowik, BUT its the 2 completely opposite opinions. Ben Johnson is stupid for not snatching up any HC gig he can but Slowik is a genius for staying!?
WTF guys, really? Johnson is 37 yrs old and imo maybe not ready for such a big jump in responsibility and Campbell was an Asst HC for 5 yrs and learned from one of the best HC in sean payton. Slowik staying to get some more experience is a smart move??
This absolutely shows that all these "football" analysts absolutely have different feelings, thoughts and opinions when talking Detroit and its just par for the course for fans of the lions to ALWAYS hear stuff like this!
Idk why nobody wants to believe johnson is happy where hes at and wants to win with the lions and HIS unfinished business doing that! Its so hard for ppl to unterstand whats its actually like being happy with their job and money is of course a big thing, but its not the end all be all, Johnson is a very high paid OC so i just dont get why ppl cant understand that a person can be happy where they are at! Also he is confident in himself and thats not a trait that everyone has bcuz most ppl are greedy and will take the money even when they may not be ready... we see it every yr in HC!
Johnson stupid
Slowik genius
Yet BOTH did the same fucking thing!!
Slowik was a first time OC and play caller this season and certainly needs more experience as an OC. This is similar to Johnson last year. There was a video from another channel that also mentioned Johnson's family is happy in Detroit and was not ready to move. Either way it's good for both fanbases to have continuity.
Simms and florio are giving the text book definition of privilege. Well done
Talk some more shit about the Titans. I dare you.
the titans suck and fired the only good thing about them😂
😂😂😂😂
Slowik isn’t that good, he did terrible in the Ravens/Jets game. They should send his ass packing and pick up a different OC.
