(EXTRA COLOR: left out a few things over the course of a few draft rewrites, but i only slept one hour last night and want to release this video today. so i'm too tired to add these items back in)
(1) Dunk's thoughts after seeing squire Raymun sparring his cousin Steffon: If he is only a squire, what business do I have being a knight? One of us is a fool. (The Hedge Knight)
(2) Plummer saying "mayhaps" may have been a subtle not to the concept of lies (Frey Game - Lord of the Crossing)
The link in the description isn’t working FYI.
Thanks for working so hard to keep us entertained. Get some rest! 💞
which link, the one on my instagram profile? it works...
thanks TT =))
thanks, nolan =))
The biggest clue is when Raymun asks Dunk to knight him and Dunk hesitates and refuses. He lied about being a knight, but he’s still honourable.
I always interpreted that as him simply not knowing the words, he had a sheltered upbringing and it's doubtful that he had heard them.
And that couldn't be due to Dunk fearing someone dying by fighting for him?
Or because Dunk still hasn't fully accepted that he's now a knight?
There's just as many clues pointing towards why some men chose to stay squires, rather than step up to become knights.
They all explain why Dunk would feel conflicted to the point of disbelief.
@@paulleverton9569 nah, Dunk becomes a knight when he's inducted in to the Kingsguard. He won't knight Raymun because he knows he can't. None of your motivations make any sense. He's not fully accepted he's a knight? He spends his entire time at Ashford presenting himself as a knight. As for not wanting Raymun to fight for him? He doesn't stop Lyonel knighting him does he? He just won't do it himself. And as for not wanting anyone to fight with him? He walks along the stands begging for anyone to join him.
You might be thinking I dislike Dunk or something? I don't, I think Dunk is awesome. He's one of my favourite characters. And I love that he's not actually a knight until he becomes a member of the kingsguard. Literally from the gutter of flea bottom all the way to the Red Keep. Awesome.
I forgot how much it hurts knowing Baelor died so quickly
ditto. i hadnt read this in awhile. so both the "dunk lied?" and the "baelor is amazing" things jumped out at me. what a great man!
And killed by his own brother to make it even worse I wonder how family meals were after that.
So dunk’s story reminds me of the movie “a knights tale” (how it starts) ... Bobby B and lord tyrell are in that movie too!
Ledger would have been an epic Rhaegar.
Absolutely, I recomend it to anyone interested in Du nk and Egg. Good comment ❤🤗
Omg is Mace the old priest who scolds Ulrich for riding his horse in the cathedral?? "YOU DESECRATE THE HOUSE OF GOD!"
@@EbikingViking992 good catch omg 🤣🤣🤣
thats a great call. im gonna copy and paste something i wrote last night to a friend.
i LOOOOOVED that movie. so good. i had the biggest crush on shannon sossoman back in the day. and i still consider one of chaucer's lines to be arguably my favorite line in any show or movie:
"I will eviscerate you in fiction. Every pimple, every character flaw. I was naked for a day; you will be naked for eternity!" LOLOL so good
Unlike this lying false knight, a truly honorable knight ser Gregor Clegane was actually knighted😤By the honorable prince Rhaegar himself!
Shame on duncan he should've been more like ser Gregor...
I know, Ser Gregor’s reputation was ruined by Edard Stark, probably one of the most merciful men alive, close to Ramsay Bolton. The whole show is Stark Propaganda. Smh
AK Channel TV In my opinion Starks are just liars who gained the seven kingdoms by theft and without honor, first they killed Lord Karstark who is bound by blood to Starks and then they killed Boltons who were true good lords that cared for the realm. Smh Starks got what they deserved on The Red Wedding and still won. The one true king was the Night King and not Stannis or Robb or any other Lords.
Let’s cancel Stark family and post #NoStark
@@akchanneltv4084 I heard in a documentary about ASoIaF called somelike "Game of Thornes" (or something), that Eddard Stark even lied to his own wife about having a Bastard Son. Stark Propaganda doesn't even begin to cover it...
lol well played
I vaguely recall grrm saying that 4 or 5 people would be revealed to be dunks descendants. brienne has been confirmed. hodor is likely. would be hilarious if Gregor, sandor and their dead sister are the other 2 or 3
Duncan wasnt a Knight, Duncan was a goddamn hero.
hahaha i dig this comment
Damn right
yeah even the mountain is a *knight*
"Wiggled his bald little ass into Dunk's heart." I'm losing my shit at this line. XD
He wasnt a knight, he was the whole crusade
i like the sound of that!
Dunkie was the truest knight never knighted , much like his descent Brianne. I'm looking forward to see who will knight him in the future .theres a quote about egg where Dunk says " maybe one day he'll make a knight ", will Aegon be the one to knight Dunk but if so , who will knight egg? , will this be the moment when the lie finally comes to light? .We know for sure Aegon is a knight for sure by the third blackfyre revelion as he has Rohanne webber son as a squire.so it would be a safe guess Dunk's knighthood dilemma just might be resolved by then 🤔🤷♀️
great post. unfortunately I bet that won't be until novella 5 right? or maybe 6? I'd imagine the next one is them heading north to winterfell and fighting the ironborn maybe?? would be sick to get a full novella of them up at the wall. imagine if the knight of the seven kingdoms wlhad a adventure outside the 7 kingdoms north of the wall!! (side note. would be hilarious if dunks lie never came out. dunk knighted egg. and then egg knighted barristan, making barristans knighthood a fraud hahah)
@@bridge4 🤣🤣🤣I just died. The whole chain of command a fraud oh RH'lor help us !!!! Yes trully it will be amazing to see this develop ,as well the time jumps that Grrm is planning to handle it with .as well of how much of their lifes povs we will get from Dunk and ,how much will appear in the words of our unreliable maisters in Fire and blood part 2 . Let's not forget Dunk will eventually go to the wall with Aemon and lord Br ,but I seruisly doubt will be a Dunk alone adventure without egg in print , omg 🤣🤣🤣 I can only imagine a grown 7ft adult with a white cloack terrified AF in the insides during that journey. Sorry not to change subjects but yes super excited to see the giant in winterfell kissing me under the tree😏, ( clears throat) ,I mean kissing old nan or whomever 🙄🤤
its gotta be dunk and old nan. good point, forgot about the trip up their with BR. like i said on IG, you're nerd level 25. and thats cool in my book!
Other than Baelor
@@themarianetta8175 yes maam I'm a huge Baelor fan
Baelor’s death never fails to make me cry.
Of course he wasn't knighted......yet. I believe Egg knights him when he is offered the White Cloak. Dunk comes clean and Egg knights him.
I'm totally onboard with him not wanting to Knight someone else. It would be to drag someone else into his shame, if you get what I mean. He'd be making someone else a liar.
exactly. in my first draft, i mentioned sandor (who i think is also a descendant of dunk). and i brought up a show-only line of his. right before the inn scene, he tells arya "a man's gotta have a code" lol. and dunk's the type of guy to yhave a code. he lied, clearly felt guilty about it. and liuke you said, thats why he may not have wanted to drag someone else into his lie
@@bridge4 so the set Gregor Clagene is to ?
If he was the type of man to lie about the dying wishes of Sir Arlen, surely he'd not care about dragging others into his deceit?
Dunk has self esteem issues. Especially when he's around hereditary aristocrats. He's an orphan from Fleabottom, ffs!
I love how ole George can make you absolutely enthralled with a character like Baelor Breakspear with very little interaction, his deeds make explanations unnecessary?? We come to care so deeply so that we're impacted when he dies and see the Injustice of it it so sad , best king who never was , so to speak what a great character man I cried when he died 😥 k so what ima chick 🤣🤣LOL damn it GrrM ....i need TWOW or New novela...thanks Kev keep up the great work good video to start your day with
i love how you addressed baelor in a video 96% about dunk lol. and im being serious. baelor is my number 1 targ, and i hear ya. its wild how GRRM was able to get us so vested in a character with so little "Screentime"
@@bridge4 well he just leaves such a huge "shadow " haha lol pun intended over this story n in "Dunks" futeue as it were...i just love Baelor Breakspear, its like the tons of Tytos Blackwood fans , he got one scene , but we all know him by that great Raven feather Cloak that he wears (its got as much or more page space in descriptive texts than Lord Tytos , ) n so yeah i love all the Dunk n Egg stuff ASOIAF.....its all just incredible and I think GrrM maybe the Best of our lifetime anyway...imo
I thought it was a given that he wasn't a true knight. I thought he lied when I first read it.
Like you said, it's hinted at heavily
i feel ya. very heavily. i didnt realize until after throwing together this script that it was confirmed by GRRM tho. so i had to go back and rewrite a bunch of stuff
@@bridge4 Great video as always 👍
@Felipe Moe Sorry? Confirm what? I never said GRRM confirmed anything. I said it's heavily implied....
thank you, ser!
its sketchy since it doesnt mention the date or the convention, but this sites "so spake martin" stuff is pretty reliable. here's the "source" i was referring to: www.westeros.org/Citadel/SSM/Entry/1307 (actually title mentions both the con and the date) NOREASCON (BOSTON, MA; SEPTEMBER 2-6)
A lot of people missed it back in the 90s as I have checked couple ancient ASOIAF websites. I'm glad now we live in an age, where bunch of reddit pages or youtube videos are available to convey people to reach the subtle hidden passages within the novella.
i have had some bad head injuries, sso i cannot recall if this jumped out at me or not. i feel like it must have since its so on the nose. but with that said, i just relistened to this last week and it jjmped out at me like "whoaaa, hes a liar!" which prompted me to drop everything i was working on to mjake this lol
Oh wow! Back from vacation and there's new videos from kev to watch! 🤩🤩
I always figured he was not knighted until Egg became king and then Egg did it.
will make a great scene. if i had to be, and im probably wrong based on what everyone else is saying, i think his lie will go with him to the grave

lol well played selkie (for Khaleesia: ruclips.net/video/1rlSjdnAKY4/видео.html)
Speaking of Dunk and Egg, the Ashford tourney theory is interesting. There were 5 champions defending the fair maid: Lyonel Baratheon, Leo Tyrell, Tybolt Lannister, Humfrey Hardyng, and Valarr Targaryen. If the first 4 last names look familiar, that’s because Sansa’s suitors thus far have been Joffrey Baratheon, Willas Tyrell, Tyrion Lannister, and Harry Hardyng.
More dunk and egg videos please, loved this
Love your videos. Can't stop.
thank you so much, ser!
Hey Kev.
There s an interesting theory that Old Nan is actually Rohanne Webber. She married Gerold Lannister and after having her last son with him she disappeared mysteriously around 230 AC.
Both she and old nan are described as small.
Old Nan spins her stories like a web and th sigil of House Webber is a spider.
I guess the only problem with the theory is Rohannes disappearance does not line up with the birth of Brandon Stark at 226 or 227 AC latest ( but the dates are pretty close )
What do you think ?
like you said, the dates dont line up. not sure if you saw one of my recent videos or not, but i believe Old Nan to be the Frey Bride from the Mystery Knight. if it turns out to be Rohanne, that would be really cute tho!
I dig this ,after all her disappearance its " mysterious circumstances " it's possible she wandered around on her way for a min, I like this ❤
@bridge4
I saw your video and I also think it is the Frey Bride
Mainly because :
1. Brans vision tells us it was brown haired girl with a very tall knight while Rohanne was strawberry blonde.
2. Rohanne was born in 185 AC which would make her 45 at the time she disappeared ( which is kind of old to have any more kids ? )
Anyways, its nice to think Rohanne and Dunks love continued through their descendants: Brienne and Jaime.
Old nan as Tywin granny ? You want to make us have nightmares ?
And it's would had been really fucked up.
@indra le fulgurant
What isn’t fucked up in ASOIAF ? 😂
Right after that dopeass transition from dunk to brienne at the end an ad went “hail Caesar!” Idc if it’s a different name I cried🤣
Great breakdown Kev, as always😁👍
thanks =))
Damn dude, you did justice to George's incredible plot-weaving and storytelling. I wonder can motivate someone like George to continue intricate plot details hundreds of pages before and hence, when he knows mist of it will go entirely over most of his readerships' heads? It did mine!
When I read "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" all you have just unearthed went completely over my dumb head! It's this obsession for detail that makes me love George's work long after I've read it. It's almost godlike! It all stands out in retrospect, you see it all over the prose, heck, it's in the title, "A Knight...".
Anyway, well done for being one of the few who seem to have "got it". George deserves at least some of you!
I love watching your videos, I love the way you set out all the information! Complete organisation envy! I can't even organise a coherent thought this well 😂
haha you're too kind. im terrible with words, definitely a numbers guy. as an example, the video im aiming to release 2 fridays from now is a stannis video that i've written 3 different scripts for starting last july. but for various reasons, never recorded and made the video. then iterally yesterday (i sent OTDA a voice text when this happened), i was listening to a podcast on a different show, buit sort of drifting off and boom! a new script flooded my head. so now i have to write that down.
im rambling, which is proof. i struggle with words. what i was trying to get at is that the stannis video 2 thursdays from now is techinically something ive been trying to figure out how to say for 13 months LOL. so with that in mind, you're probably not gonna be impressed by the final product lol
but i do my best. words are just difficult. thank you for the kind words tho =))
I didn't realize this was a theory. I just assumed he wasn't and everyone took it as a given.
Is your channel name, by any chance related to the Stormlight Archives?
Please keep making amazing video's!
I've read all ASOIAF 5 books and all 3 Dunk & Egg's 5 times. I think you would have to not pay much attention to not know he hasn't been knighted yet. He may be knighted once Egg is King, on the low.
Awesome vid.
Love these novellas and the graphic novel looks great.
By the by, my Puppy Cat was utterly rapt by this video...the entire way through.

@@bridge4 with a little help from my bestie
Bridge what do you think happened in Summerhall and can you make a video about it?
Really good video 👍🏼 👌🏼
im addressing that in an upcoming video. i decided to drop out a bunch of the tangent upon tangent upon tangent videos (niche topics), so instead of being around the 12th, its the 5th ASOIAF/Game of Thrones video from now, so im going to plead the 5th for day. my bad!
bridge4 Looking forward to see the next video and i know it’ll be great as always:)
Man I’m thick as a castle wall. I didn’t catch this at all, I just thought he had a secret identity too
yeah a bunch of people responded how it was obvious. i totally hear them. but i cant recall my first time reading this if it jumped out or not, since i have bad memory
i hadnt read this story in awhile, probably at least a year. and it jumped out this time, and felt like it was something i had never thought of before tho, which prompted the video
so i think im with ya in that i felt thick as a castle wall (cause i have dewfinitely read/audiobooked this story 10 times or so. if it took me 10 to realize this then LOL) but imagine it DID jump out at me in an earlier read. but i just forgot about it. and then i got to relive the surprise again this time due to my bad memory hahah #thesilverlining
Reading it I thought that Baelon Breakspear knighted me, but Dunc hadn’t realised it.
knighted you? :-P
bridge4 blaming the benzos for that one pmsl
lol, i was hoping you would take my light hearted response the right way. thanks =))
I never really thought anyone thought he did get knighted there. But this was really fun to watch :) All the good memories of these books.
Genial video, que gran historia 😎❤️
What is the music playing?
You forget that Edward the Black Prince knighted Dunk right before he squared off against Count Adhemar for the last time...oh, no, wait a minute thats Heath Ledger in the last Knight. How could I possibly get those two confused.
hahah i LOOOOOVED that movie. so good. i had the biggest crush on shannon sossoman back in the day. and i still consider one of chaucer's lines to be arguably my favorite line in any show or movie:
"I will eviscerate you in fiction. Every pimple, every character flaw. I was naked for a day; you will be naked for eternity!" LOLOL so good
Knights should be judged by their Deeds not by the Empty Oaths ANYONE can say. True to this Very Day!
hear, hear! i can drink to that (actually, i just did lol)
George spells it out so much that its not even a debate. Duncan was never knighted. Clearly
Well, isn't it obvious. But that's my single favorite theme in the series, he earned knighthood, literally.
im with ya =)) no doubt!
Great vid Kev. So Dunk getting in to the Tournament of Ashford Meadow is like the equivalent of an underaged minor using a fakeID to get into a strip club LOL
LOl juust saw this. yeah basically the same thing LOL
Omg!!!!! How did I not see this!!!! I read these books 4 times. The first book is my favorite thing George has ever wrote! Your amazing!
Agreed 100%
all credit to George R.R. Martin =)) but thanks!
I love the Dunk character. Great stories. But I still wish he would just focus on wow. George has too many irons in the fire
the silver lining is that whatever he finishes next will probably put smiles on our faces. its all awesome =))
If Martin dies before finishing the Dunk and Egg stories, I will forever have a hole in my heart where the rest of these stories should be. They are absolutely incredible pieces of fiction.
It was a passing of the torch from Baelor to Dunk the essence of a tru knight. Great vid and breakdown homie
no offense to dunk, but i wish that torch was never passed. i often claim the Rogue Prince as my favorite Targ, but he's not really. he just happens to have ridden my favorite dragon, made love to one of my top 3 women (probably my number 1), and have a lot of cool adventures in his life. but in truth, Baelor is my number 1 targaryen
then again, as the butterfly effect has it, dunk effectively saved man kind through his presumed sacrifice at summerhall
whats up btw!!!
Hey pete🤩❤, good seeing you.we meet at con in 2018
Where are the black and white illustrations from, Doug Wheatley?
from the "a knight of the seven kingdoms" book. colored are from the graphic novel
bridge4 nice 👍
I love Dunk & Egg, highly overlooked stories.
Hey Kev, I just wanted to let ya know that I noticed it had been weeks since I had seen any type of content from you so I came to your channel to check on you and I was unsubscribed! Which you know is insane bc you're my favorite RUclipsr
I wonder how dunk felt killing the laughing storm in the end..looks like the realm needed that foot
From a "legal" standpoint not only is Dunk not entitled to the title of Ser but all those who were knighted by him as well. However his heroics attest to his knightly bearing and composure. While perhaps not a "true" knight he was a truer knight than many a "true knight".
Kev: Lets dive in further...
Me: *squeals with joy*
Great vid. I always thought Dunk had lied about being a Knight. But he has shown himself to be a knight in his deeds even if he wasn't knighted.
Please make a video about pate, and whats going on in oldtown
Yo kev .so chuffed your doing these novellas I absolutely love them "Dunk the lunk thick as a catle wall " and plus it has one of my favourite Westerosi characters Lord Lyonel "laughing Storm Baratheon!!whi I might ad is an absolute badass and I think Our Bobby B is a reincarnation of him and 1 of greatest kings who never was Bealor "Breakspear' Targaryan keep them coming my friend 👍#best asoiafchannel fact!!!
baelor is my favorite character in this story. but i totally feel ya. lyonel is friggen awesome!
The Baratheons are amazing characters in general. Going all the way back to Orrys, it's a whole family of striking, charismatic personalities. The term "large and in charge" was pretty much made for them.
Hmm, most of the other stuff seems him just being nervous or have other explanations, but the first bit about him thinking about finding another knight to squire for is pretty concrete, once you accept that the rest is more plausible... and the author quote obvs xD
i totally feel ya. i have a line in there where i said "A lot of these quote un quote clues have room for debate, since the there are other reasons for Dunk to be nervous, worried, ashamed, quilty or otherwise uncomfortable in these conversations and situations." and my original script actually had a lot of lines like that. but when i was done and ready to record, i finally searched google to see if this was a "theory" that was out there, and thats when i found out that it was already confirmed offline by GRRM lol. so i had to go back to the script and switch around a lot of my "iffys" to "Definitely" so to say
but i feel ya. some of them may not have been intentional clues. but i combed "the hedge knight" 3 times and "the sworn sword" and "the mystery knight" twice for everything i could find, so i figured i;d throw it on screen for the hell of it
i actually wrote and rewrote the script several times. and i missed some of the stuff from older drafts. like how Plummer says the word "mayhaps" which is associated with lies through the Frey game "the lord of the crossing" (that one is a huge stretch tho)
"wiggled his bald little ass" = instant thumbs up lolol
lol usually i swing and miss. glad a couple of you dug that line tho =)) actually, that line probably worked because it wasn't part of the script. i improvised it. i guess i should never try to "write" jokes. if they come out, they come out
@@bridge4 scripted and spontaneous are all gold
was it really "suggested", I remember this being a known fact (to us, readers), I will have to reread
its never technically proven, unless your count dunks buzzed thoughts on the ground where he thinks "im not even a hedge knight" - however, if im not mistaken, he has been known to say or think that a knight is not a knight if he doesnt have a horse. so that might be what he was referring to in his throughts there since he had just been unhorsed
Great job! Love Dunk the lunk!!
thank you, ser! and im with ya. dunk is great. baelor too. what a dude!
I'm not crying, you are!
We both are 😅😭🤣
Choked me up at the end, dammit!
Gotta love the subtlety of GRRM. Cant believe i didnt notice he wasnt knighted my first read through.
I have never believed dunk was ever knighted. I always thought he wasn't and the fact he wasn't is what made such a better knight. It never mattered if he was knighted he was everything a knight should have been!! He is a true knight....
This continues George RR Mountains theme of the truest knights not being actual knights. Dunk and his descendent Brienne are prime examples, but to some extent so is Sandor.
Wasn’t Brienne knighted by Renly?
But Dunk was knighted later on so he does become a "true" knight.
i tend to think the cleganes are also dunks descendants since GRRM siad something like 4 or 5 people are (and we know brienne is. hodor is implied, which leaves possibly gregor, sandor (and their sister) to fill out the other 2 or 3
brienne was appointed to renly's rainbow guard, but not as a knight. similar to sandor being on joffrey's king's guard, but not as a knight
hey ox, we dont know yet whether dunk was ever knighted, do we??
I like to imagine this will stay a secret until later in life, whne Egg becomes king, and when Bloodraven or somebody Dunk gets on his bad side reveals the secret. Egg will order his kingsguard to sieze him which will bring him down to recieve the king's justice. Then Egg will pull out his sword, maybe even Dark Sister and knight his old friend. Whose a better person to knight someone than the king himself?
i believe Brienne was a knight as part of Renly's rainbow guard. dubbed Brienne the Blue, in place of Ser Barriston Selmy. she competed as a knight and she herself kneldt and was given honours by renly himself.
Do a video on Maynard Plumm is Brynden Rivers/Bloodraven!
Its a Poetic play on the Knight.
The Truest Knight. The one who embodied Chivalry the most was False.
It questions the concept, what makes a Knight. Is it blood, Is it the Ceremony, Is it the Nobility, the Prowess in combat and warfare? Or is Knighthood a title. Is it Chivalry?
"his bald little ass" LOL
lol, i swing a lot and usually wiff. glad you and m'lady "Mrs Duncan the Tall" heard that one =))
@@bridge4 wonderful video as always :)
I didn't know Dunk not being knighted was controversial. First time I feel clever amongst asoiaf fandom😁
This breaks my heart, I loved how dunk came from nothing and still was one of the most honorable men in all the 7 kingdoms and to think he lied about his knighthood just seems dishonorable
its just a title tho. actions speak louder then words. think about Ser Gregor Clegane. Rhaegar knighted Gregor and then years later, Gregor kills his wife and children. wild stuff
bridge4 wow didn’t even think to compare those two situations, but it is hard to forget how much hypocrisy goes into it. As Sandor said in Sansa 4 ACOK “it’s all about how many men you’ve killed or if you’ve slain the right man, there is no real honor” or something along those lines
@@bridge4 agree. Dunk was a true Knight in every way that matters. That the title was likely not official until he joined the Kings Guard, is a minor issue for me.... Such inner turmoil for him in the meanwhile though.....
@@dfunkt2291 you don't have to be a kngiht to be on the Kingsguard (sandor is an example)
@@dfunkt2291 and brienne on renlys rainbow guard
I think Sir Arlan try to knight Duncan, but never completed. There's a line in the story when Duncan says that Sir Arlan had charge him to be brave, in the name of the Father, and to protect the inocent in the name of the mother, then he stops, so maybe is not a full lie. Just a half lie since Sir Arlan didn't fully said the words🤔
It's why we know The Hound is his descendant. He's his mirror opposite. He sees the whole knighthood system as a farce and turns it down when offered the chance and mocks actual Knights as the hypocrites that they are. Like Duncan, he's a true Knight that doesn't need a title.
I always believed Dunc lied, way before all the proof was laid out like this video. But then again.... GRRM could be making people think that on purpose. I wouldn’t be surprised but I doubt it . Dunc lied but he was one of the greatest Knights to ever live.
hear, hear
Can do a video on how the Frey’s cleaned up 30,000+ body’s at the twins
lol ... im guessing they burned them. imagine they dumped them in the river (downstream would be a mess)
bridge4 🤣🤣
8:00
The simplest explanation is that Dunk did not know the words of the ceremony, since he had never heard them himself.
For some reason this tale always makes me weep. I don't understand my emotions. Perhaps it is because despite my name, which is tongue-in -cheek, I am of the smallfolk. Truly lowborn. And I wish the real world had a Duncan the Tall. Or even a Baelor Breakspear. Alas... our world is full of Arion Brightflames, Steffon Fossaways, and Daeron Targaryens. Are there no True Knights among us?
I just read the Hedge Knight and nearly all the time i asked myself if he was knighted or not😅
Of course not. GRRM’s point here is that the truest knight in the realm isn’t a knight at all. He likes to make these switches all over asoiaf. The kingsgaurd for example are supposed to be honorable warriors yet most of them are cruel and apathetic. The Nights Watch on the other hand is made up of thrives and murderers yet a majority of people Jon meets on the wall are honorable.
just like his descendant, brienne, many years later =))
Funny how bloodraven as ser maynard called him dunk..basically calling him out on not being knighted
I like how Steffon Fossoway looks like Val Kilmer.
Fits with Briene, who is related to him, she is not knighted either, but more of a knight than most knights. (talking books, not show).
Great video 👍👍 I haven't read anything on Ser Duncan but will do in time haha 🙂
You should, they are some of Martin's best stories and since they concentrate on a couple of characters much easier to get into compared to GOT.
@@drwatkins68 yes I've heard a few say the same that they are his best work 🙂
@Shame nolan I think bridge said this to me once if I remember correctly lol I will definitely check them out soon thanks 🙂
you gooooota read or get audible since the narration is great. a knight of the seven kingdoms. light reads but sooooo much fun. you will fall in love with dunk and egg (future king Aegon V, fourth son of a fourth son)
i juyst read DR's and nolans comments and yeah, i totally agree =))
Cool...more GRRM works that had obvious clues to something I never noticed. But ty though.
I think grrm left this ambigious on purpose. To let the reader debate knighthood with Jaime, Davos, Bronn, Lyn Cobray annointed knights to be judged against Brienne , The hound, Dunk even Jon Snow. What makes a knight? You saw how the smalkfolk embrace Dunk before his trial by seven how people looked to the hound as a kingsguard knight and even Jon Snow acting like a true Knight. So we discuss what, who is a knight...truly? But cmon Dunk liar liar pants on fire🔥. Seriously back in the day on the west side in chi town there was this corner bar called the Liars Club. Third Thursday of the month was drum n bass night, packed til 2am. That's where Dunk is chillin😉✌💪
He hasn't been knighted yet..and bloodrven knows it.but he must get knighted at some point..maybe by egg..or by blood raven
think so? a lot of yall lean that way. i tend to think it will never get brought up again... it'll always be his little secret. could make for a great scene though, so i hope you're right!
I’m hearing a lot of maybes couldbes conjecture. My viewing of GRR Martin is suspect as he won’t finish his last two books books is caring more about HBO
Bridge the gap!
thanks, Joniukas!
I have never thought that he was knighted I am actually reading it at the moment and there it is especially stated that he lied. But I also have it in german perhaps it was a translation error which actually turned true
A true knight is not determined by whether or not he is given a title, but whether or not he is willing to go the extra mile for the common good. and in that regard Dunk smashes it.
I REALLY Loved This Video! Duncan WAS A TRUE KNIGHT! (RIP Baelor Breakspear!) AND We HAVE YET to see what Duncan Will DO at Summerhall with THAT LEG!
Joff "Ser Duncan the Tall, HUnh?" flips thru White Book,"He MUST'VE BEEN Quite a MAN" Jamie "So the Stories Say"..
ALSO, What's your thoughts on Ser Duncan having some House Strong Blood in him. Possibly Ser Lucamore's Seed in ol' King's Landing. When he served as a White Knight? Seems to be QUITE A BIT of Noble Blood in Kings Landing...lol The Spider is the only one who HASN'T left a Bastard it Seems.. In Other Words... A LOT of Important Bastards are Raised in Flea Bottom... It ONLY Makes Sense,,,
When he was elevated to the kingsguard he was no longer a false knight.
But semantics
👏👏👏
thanks, danny!
It’s a great job by George. Why else didn’t dunk knight the brother in the tourney of 7.
Was that a meow at the beginning?
"All men are Knights", once said a wise fool.
ok so maybe you can shed some light on this thoght?!?! I think the chipped Garnet is the key to the end. i mean it is part of the ritual at summer hall.
I almost didn’t want to see this, It will break my heart; but come on, we all sort of knew even before GRRM said anything... He was not a knight but he had A bid ass ❤️!
lol i hear ya, but its just a title. dunk proved from his first day as a "knight" that he was a true knight =))
bridge4 that he did!!! Time and time again, Dunk is the definition of knight !!! I just ❤️him, he is my crush (🤣🤣🤣)! Have a great Saturday !!!!!
bridge4 and by the way, I did saw your video, couple of times !!!!
I bet he got knighted by Egg when he was made Lord Commander of the Kingsguard
A knight by deeds if not by title
hear, hear! a true knight for sure
The ladies call me the long knight. Surely you joust.
