    since we turned off "channel memberships" for the time being, early access to videos/chat on IG: instagram.com/bridge4official/
    (EXTRA COLOR: left out a few things over the course of a few draft rewrites, but i only slept one hour last night and want to release this video today. so i'm too tired to add these items back in)
    (1) Dunk's thoughts after seeing squire Raymun sparring his cousin Steffon: If he is only a squire, what business do I have being a knight? One of us is a fool. (The Hedge Knight)
    (2) Plummer saying "mayhaps" may have been a subtle not to the concept of lies (Frey Game - Lord of the Crossing)

    The biggest clue is when Raymun asks Dunk to knight him and Dunk hesitates and refuses. He lied about being a knight, but he’s still honourable.

    • @adamweisshaup
      @adamweisshaup 3 года назад +2

      I always interpreted that as him simply not knowing the words, he had a sheltered upbringing and it's doubtful that he had heard them.

    • @paulleverton9569
      @paulleverton9569 Год назад

      And that couldn't be due to Dunk fearing someone dying by fighting for him?
      Or because Dunk still hasn't fully accepted that he's now a knight?
      There's just as many clues pointing towards why some men chose to stay squires, rather than step up to become knights.
      They all explain why Dunk would feel conflicted to the point of disbelief.

    • @falsepod
      @falsepod Год назад

      @@paulleverton9569 nah, Dunk becomes a knight when he's inducted in to the Kingsguard. He won't knight Raymun because he knows he can't. None of your motivations make any sense. He's not fully accepted he's a knight? He spends his entire time at Ashford presenting himself as a knight. As for not wanting Raymun to fight for him? He doesn't stop Lyonel knighting him does he? He just won't do it himself. And as for not wanting anyone to fight with him? He walks along the stands begging for anyone to join him.
      You might be thinking I dislike Dunk or something? I don't, I think Dunk is awesome. He's one of my favourite characters. And I love that he's not actually a knight until he becomes a member of the kingsguard. Literally from the gutter of flea bottom all the way to the Red Keep. Awesome.

I'm looking forward to see who will knight him in the future .theres a quote about egg where Dunk says " maybe one day he'll make a knight ", will Aegon be the one to knight Dunk but if so , who will knight egg? , will this be the moment when the lie finally comes to light? .We know for sure Aegon is a knight for sure by the third blackfyre revelion as he has Rohanne webber son as a squire.so it would be a safe guess Dunk's knighthood dilemma just might be resolved by then 🤔🤷‍♀️

    Speaking of Dunk and Egg, the Ashford tourney theory is interesting. There were 5 champions defending the fair maid: Lyonel Baratheon, Leo Tyrell, Tybolt Lannister, Humfrey Hardyng, and Valarr Targaryen. If the first 4 last names look familiar, that’s because Sansa’s suitors thus far have been Joffrey Baratheon, Willas Tyrell, Tyrion Lannister, and Harry Hardyng.

    Hey Kev.
    There s an interesting theory that Old Nan is actually Rohanne Webber. She married Gerold Lannister and after having her last son with him she disappeared mysteriously around 230 AC.
    Both she and old nan are described as small.
    Old Nan spins her stories like a web and th sigil of House Webber is a spider.
    I guess the only problem with the theory is Rohannes disappearance does not line up with the birth of Brandon Stark at 226 or 227 AC latest ( but the dates are pretty close )
    What do you think ?

    • @bridge4
      @bridge4  3 года назад +4

      like you said, the dates dont line up. not sure if you saw one of my recent videos or not, but i believe Old Nan to be the Frey Bride from the Mystery Knight. if it turns out to be Rohanne, that would be really cute tho!

      @bridge4
      I saw your video and I also think it is the Frey Bride
      Mainly because :
      1. Brans vision tells us it was brown haired girl with a very tall knight while Rohanne was strawberry blonde.
      2. Rohanne was born in 185 AC which would make her 45 at the time she disappeared ( which is kind of old to have any more kids ? )
      Anyways, its nice to think Rohanne and Dunks love continued through their descendants: Brienne and Jaime.

It's this obsession for detail that makes me love George's work long after I've read it. It's almost godlike! Hmm, most of the other stuff seems him just being nervous or have other explanations, but the first bit about him thinking about finding another knight to squire for is pretty concrete, once you accept that the rest is more plausible... and the author quote obvs xD

    • @bridge4
      @bridge4  3 года назад

      i totally feel ya. i have a line in there where i said "A lot of these quote un quote clues have room for debate, since the there are other reasons for Dunk to be nervous, worried, ashamed, quilty or otherwise uncomfortable in these conversations and situations." and my original script actually had a lot of lines like that. but when i was done and ready to record, i finally searched google to see if this was a "theory" that was out there, and thats when i found out that it was already confirmed offline by GRRM lol. so i had to go back to the script and switch around a lot of my "iffys" to "Definitely" so to say
      but i feel ya. some of them may not have been intentional clues. but i combed "the hedge knight" 3 times and "the sworn sword" and "the mystery knight" twice for everything i could find, so i figured i;d throw it on screen for the hell of it
      i actually wrote and rewrote the script several times. and i missed some of the stuff from older drafts. like how Plummer says the word "mayhaps" which is associated with lies through the Frey game "the lord of the crossing" (that one is a huge stretch tho)

    Of course not. GRRM’s point here is that the truest knight in the realm isn’t a knight at all. He likes to make these switches all over asoiaf. The kingsgaurd for example are supposed to be honorable warriors yet most of them are cruel and apathetic. The Nights Watch on the other hand is made up of thrives and murderers yet a majority of people Jon meets on the wall are honorable.
