    Interesting idea. Your proposed technique would probably be most useful in areas where foliar spraying isn't possible. Otherwise, when damage through drift isn't an issue, why not combine stem injection and foliar spraying? That's what I did last fall, first I injected the bigger stems and then I sprayed the whole patch. I hoped combination of both techniques gives me a better outcome. Overall pesticide use still limited and everything died off nicely. Let's see how much regrowth I get in spring, though.

      I will be interested to hear how you combination of foliar spray and injection works! I hadn't thought of that. It especially might be useful for getting large stems in the middle of a patch that are hard to spray. To your question, yes, i think you are correct. The technique proposed here would be useful where someone only wants to do injections.
