These clips just remind me how much of a masterpiece this series is.
But y0 isn't the end all be all of the series since this is like the only time majima shines in it maybe in y5 but that's besides the point
Eh, I think Majima peaked in 0. I find his "crazy" act to get old and when he's slamming his head against a desk to activate secret controls, I finally realized "oh I'm too old for this"
And then you play it according to chronology and it all went down the drain

Seeing him go from garden variety psychopath who sounds like the Joker to a deep thinking morally conscious man who puts on his mad dog persona to protect himself from the harsh reality of life as a yakuza. Zero really took the time to build up his character.
The fact that Mark Hamil voiced Majima in the first game lives rent free in my brain.

When i first played this, Majima's whole ending sequence broke me. Absolutely fantastic stuff.

Both Kiryu and Majima are fiction's masterpieces in plot and storytelling. Both with tragedies any human can't comprehend, and wills of steel that cannot break in the face of fate.

The payoff in Kiwami 2 is the best part of that game.
To think it almost never happened had the West never found appreciation for the series. Kiwami 2 was justified because of the Western's newfound interest in the franchise😢

It was really fun watching Bae play thru this game. To see her get so into the story and characters made me happy. It shows just how amazing Yakiza 0 is and I hope she plays the other games.

A bit of a shame that we don’t get to see her unlock Kiryu’s Dragon style or do the final two substories. I genuinely think that if Bae does do final two substories. I’ll bet she’ll either rage or just give up.
In general most streamers always sacrifice the Real estate mini game and I think literally EVERY stream has never gone that far as to do all the substories to unlock Amon.
We gotta take the attention spans of the viewers into consideration which is most of them wouldn't want to sit through that grind.

Like I fully understand side content in any game that people stream for an audience is likely to get brushed past but jeez I would hope the more impactful stuff would get the attention.
@@DingoEnderZOE2 That’s the main flaw about the Yakuza games, they have good side content but the problem is that they’re not gonna find it or will probably stumble upon it by random.
I don’t think I know any vtubers that has played Yakuza and I can guarantee the moment you mention the word, Amon. They’re not gonna know who you are talking about. It’s a shame because I genuinely love all the side content that Yakuza has and like you said about the attention spans of the viewers as well. I’m one of those guys who doesn’t mind watching someone grind but there’s also others will probably get bored with it.
@@yinakiyamamore like that's how some old school JRPG works. So many important bits are from side quest. And you can completely ignore them, 1continue straight up to the ending part, and missing around half of the plot. Newer JRPG integrated this system with multiple endings. So depend on how many side quest you cleared, you will get different ending. Or there are some special ending will instantly triggered after you are doing some side quest.

Honestly, the difference in Majima’s character between this and Kiwami still leaves me wondering what the heck happened to him. He was already a mad dog, but he becomes a straight up yandere. And I wish we could’ve seen how he met Kiryu in the first place

That’s it. This year I’m playing all of the yakuza games. I’ve already finished zero but I didn’t finish 1 and I ended up buying the yakuza bundle on steam and like a dragon was gifted to me. This is my promise for 2024.

Majima as a character is waaay better experienced when you see him from 1 to 5 before 0 (as it is a precuel released after 5, of course). To many, the "KIRYU-CHAN!!!" came out from nowhere, but it is of course the iconic phrase Majima uses with Kiryu.
Oh lmao, thanks for giving context to those who didn't play or don't know the story. I mean, I've watched a 100% playthrough so I know but that's pretty thoughtful for those who didn't play/watch a playthrough.
