My grandfather has quite the history with this tank(Belgian army). He was first a tank transporter and on his very first attempt of driving a tank on the Antar trailer, he made a mistake, drove the tank off & flipped it. Then he was ferrying M47's across a street at Hechtelt when a Citroen 2CV broke trough the MP blockade that was setup and slammed into the side of tank he was driving. The couple inside was dead but it was later found out they were drunk (they found dozens of beer bottles in the car).
i heard you hate british vehicles, vehicles that do no damage and vehicles that are basically CAS magnets, so i think you should play the ratel 90; a gigantic british light tank with no armor, that only gets 90mm HEAT with a 7 second aced reload and that somehow always gets strafed by planes before it's even allowed to leave spawn (day 91)
Pro tip: if you get downtiered, use APHE as your default. Uptier, use HEAT as you expect excessive numbers of heavies and superheavies. Intelligent useage of ammo will get you very far with the M46, M47, and M48. Also, yes the APHE round gets more pen as you go up the tech tree due to small refinements in the gun models as the same gun got placed on different models of Pattons.
Actually, cool fact. I live in Barstow, CA. and right on the corner of my street, there's an M47 Patton parked as part of the museum across the road from it. Pretty cool, actually researched the M47 in game after first going to see the thing.
who plays japan bro.. i think the real issue is that the m47 is just an average vehicle that's overshadowed in the major trees it's in (america and germany).
I play a lot of 6.0-7.7-8.0 and I also feel as if the M47 doesn’t get enough love, it’s a very good tank at least the way I’ve learned to play it, Justice for the M47!
It wasn't fielded in Korea and already mostly out of service by the time the US increased its engagement in VIetnam. It hasn't seen any significant combat use in US service.
8:58 i think the t-44 was aware of the quick reload of the french tank and wasn't confident of beating its reload on time xD even if it was next to you ready to advance seeing how quickly it fire again but miss xD
you played the conqueror, you played the m103, and now it's time for you to play the amx 50 surbiasse. it combines massive firepower, a good 6-second autoloader with 18 shells in the readyrack and excellent mobility. IMO, it's the best out of the "late war soviet heavy tank hunter" class of vehicles.
Fun fact, in real life the M47 and M41 both could mount a coax .50 cal, though it was fairly rare. Earlier this year I got to see my first M47 in person, it was a gate guardian at a VFW hull and it had a .50 cal coax!
Attempt 56 Challenge: For high tier support a nations MBT with its respective APC/IFV counterpart (ie Abrams/Bradley, T90/BMP2M, etc.) Challenge is keeping the other player alive and supporting it without stealing kills (breaking barrels, tracking, repairing, etc) it being a random should help make it interesting.
The M47 was such a breath of fresh air for me grinding the American tree. Just a great all around tank that’s super versatile, glad to see you enjoying it!
The M47 is one of my favorite tanks, not only because I played it up to 9.3 but also because of its incredible ability to ambush or reposition itself very well, or simply rush people like a maniac. It's very rare, but in uptier this tank behaves very very well, it's like the T95E1 when you raise it to 9.3 or 10.0, it still performs quite well despite its shortcomings.
My grandfather was a gunner on the German variant in the Bundeswehr. He told me that after shooting, the insides would often stink so badly he had to throw up into an empty shell, which only made him more sick together with the bumpy handling on rough terrain. But there were good stories too, like when they cooked an egg on the exhaust because it got so extremely hot. Another fun fact: At the end of his career, my grandfather ranked higher than his commander, who wasn't aware of this at first, just like everyone else apparently. His face must have been priceless when he finally found out 😂
I think another underappreciated tank (and rarely seen) is the Magach 3 (ERA). It may be a standard Magach but the fact that it has ERA at 8.0 allows it to survive far more than it should.
2:23 why DOES the M47 have a .50 coax??? Pretty much everything I've seen says it has a .30 cal coax like a normal U.S. tank, but it just randomly has an M2 slapped in there in WT
On the topic of American vehicles that look weird and are underrated, I think you should play the M551. It has a 152mm gun that fires full caliber HEAT that can overpressure light vehicles and some MBTs. Although it has a long reload, it has really fast turret rotation, is fully stabilized, and imo it’s really fun. It’s like an m60a2 but more fun bc of its mobility.
Been playing WT for a while now and i've always wondered, IRL do tank crews continue fighting when they lost a crewman after getting hit? Has there been an instance in history where a tank continued fighting after they got hit, and penetrated? All I've ever seen are vids where once a tank has been penetrated/spalled the crew always bails and abandon the tank.
As a general rule crews bail the moment a round penetrates anywhere or disables the vehicle. Generally poor for ones health to be in the metal box that is being shot at and penned (or is immobile and a sitting duck)
