Big Pun is so underrated
Capital Punishment is still a top 10 hip hop record of all time no question 💯
@@gdawgs101 Absolutely no doubt about it 💎
He just didn’t have the budget or longevity to become a staple. His audio quality was lagging behind when everything became commercial. He ruled in the underground but was never given a chance in this market.
@@genocide_417 Yeah that's really not true. Still Not a Player went platinum, he had multiple singles chart in the top 100, Capital Punishment was nominated for a Grammy - he had plenty of mainstream success. He had a massive heart attack and passed just 4 years after his first album. It had nothing to do with audio quality, he just passed before he was really able to become a mainstream household name
@@gdawgs101 okay you’re right, nix the budget part. Still his longevity wasn’t what it could’ve been because of the audio quality, whoever was mixing his audio fucked the guys music career. 2pac's an interesting rapper in that while he wasn't lyrically crazy the way his contemporaries are, he had a voice (rapping-wise), subject matters, and heart, in a way that just touched your soul.
@Absurd Turk how wasn't he that "lyrically" crazy??? Dude's is def top 5 cuh. I don't get why peoples is saying he not that good in lyrics
@@brandonfunkeu8029 Well, 2pac didn't have much focus in the way of punchlines, double entendres, wordplay, the way rappers like Big Pun, Jay-Z, Big L, had at the time. 2pac's strength, imo, was his incredible rap voice, substance in his lyrics, and how he could make you feel.
@@brandonfunkeu8029 well your grammar isn’t exactly aspirational, pac is great but he’s not top five on lyrics alone. There’s plenty out there that are more talented lyrically but pac gets the top five for message and soul. Dude really cared about what he was doing.
@Absurd Turk well Nas didn't focus much on homophones and punchlines either. But they still is sayin Nas is the best lyricist. And if u talking abt punchlines then 50 Cent and Lil Wayne deserve top 5 spot. U guys don't even have a "good" explanation and that shows the little knowledge u have 'bout hip-hop lyricism

Now that you mention it I think I’d swap out Prodigy for Ye in my list...ye changed the game completely in the 2000s. One of the most influential of all time for sure. And his producer skills are unmatched. He might be the best producer of all time.
