I love how you explain not only what you are doing, but your thought process behind WHY you take the actions that you do. Also thank you for zooming in on the results page. On a cell you can't read the numbers elsewise.
I love the Hellcat! Incredibly versatile. I need to learn when to hold my shots. I often find myself in deep scouting positions, similar to the first replay and most times I don't yet have the self control to stay quiet when I have delicious shots lined up.
Hi QB, just used the Hellcat exactly as you did in a Redshire encounter battle. Not as epic as your battle but your spotting bush worked a treat. Many thanks and keep up the good work.
YES Falling trees DO provide cover now...they DID reduce foliage's camo factor down a lil tho so that they could implement the camo paint and net as cumulative! You may want to read the NEW patch updates ;)
This is by FAR my favorite tank. I only have 2 Radley Walters medals, but they both came from playing this tank. The T-49 is also a lot of fun leading up to the Hellcat so I would recommend picking that route to get there.
The Hellcat was designed from the bottom up to be a ridiculously fast effective TD. It had a hydraulic turret traverse system so it could flank tanks breaking thru the line. The only time in WWII where it was able to use its advantages to full effect was the Battle of the Bulge, where about 18 total Hellcats took out 18 panzers or so. German generals were quoted afterwards as thinking the 101st had more tanks due to the Hellcats speed
I decided to give my hellcat another shot since since I have got a lot better in WoT again and oh boy is it fun. First 2 games 4 kills in both of them and 3k damage done. I also got chance to test the HE round on another hellcat... ( felt kinda dirty after rolling high and taking him down from 60% health) awesome tip as always QB keep up the good work!
This is just of my amazing games I get in this epic tank, take into account this was a loss: Defeat Battle: Komarin 3/29/2014 5:35:59 PM Vehicle: M18 Hellcat Experience received: 2,609 Credits received: 55,300 Battle achievements: Top Gun, Tank Sniper, High Caliber, Defender, Mastery Badge: "Ace Tanker"
I've started up the US TD tree just to get a Hellcat. The lower tier TDs have zero armor and not a helluva lot of gun, but the Hellcat looks like a blast to play! Thanks for the tips!
Fallen trees now provide a lower angle degree. When trees are up they provide cover from above enemies...when down they kinda work like bushes but arty and people can see the trees falling
Without a doubt the best "Hellcat" video I have seen to date. I've one shot killed Hellcats with my KV1-S, two shotted them with my Jackson and three shotted them with my Hetzer, M-7 and T-49. So what's the problem? I've also bounced 85mm and 88mm AP and APCR rounds off Hellcats from my KV-1, VK360.1 and the same with my Churchill VII "77mm". The kills were long range hits and the bounces often at point blank range. I'll grind the Hellcat eventually but I love my T-49 for now. Have a good one.
Love qb vids. One thing I would remind people of is if you are in a bush and want to fire and not be spotted, retreat from bush temporarily so your muzzel blast is hidden. After you lose spots, move forward again. Rinse and repeat.
I'm glad you review this tank, it's my fave tank. I thought it was funny that you had almost exact same set up as me on it. I do recommend keeping it, one of the few tanks that you can do amazing no matter what tier or map. Also i recommend you get camoflage on your crew skills to make it invisible while spotting and shooting!
When that Super Pershing comes over the ridge and gets tracked, that looks like me in the Churchill I or VII in any map that has hills ever. Then again, the SP actually has acceptable gun depression, unlike the Churchills.
You should definitely consider looking at the T49, QuickyBaby. It is much like the Hellcat, but almost MORE versatile if you can believe it. With a camo crew, camo net, and binoculars, you can effectively spot AND shoot to kill your own targets without getting spotted (400ish spotting range, 270 range to be spotted while shooting). Not only that, but it is actually faster than the Hellcat! Give it a try, I highly recommend it!
Thanks Q. What a fantastic tank. It took a while to understand the benefits of the the speed and gun..I've moved to the T-25/2. It looks like a hellcat. A bit slow with 1 higher tier, "expenseive" gun..
Sweet jesus on a pogostick, I thought for ages that my hellcat was cursed, but it turns out that I was just using it incorrectly. I tried passive scouting and on my first game netted 4k spotting damage, was pretty damn pleased with it. THANK YOU Quickybaby!
One of the tanks that I really respect when I'm up against it - and if a well played Hellcat is on your team you can forget the Top Gun badge for yourself. One of my most memorable matches, was me spotting on cap point with my broken VK36 (gunner and gun down) for a Hellcat who got 11 kills in the end...
5% of the EXP you earn is given as free EXP. I play about 150-200 games of tanks a week averaging 1k+ exp per game lets factor in I win 60-70% of my games roughly which means that that % are doubles. * i.e. 150-200 games * 1000 * 1.65 = 330,000 exp a week / 20 = 16,500 free exp per week. * This does not account for 3x or 5x events where I make vastly more. * It also doesn't account for the fact that my wins are larger than my losses and only wins are doubled. * TDLR I make 20k free EXP a week.
The French tanks are fairly forgiving, but you might not do huge amounts of damage until Tier 5 with the ELC AMX., which is the break from the starting style of tank. The starting French tanks are kind of slow, yet very well armored for their tier. The H-35 & the AMX 38 can take a large amount of punishment.
QB your comment is quite right. Many thanks for this guide, I had a go with Hellcat previously, didnt succeed and sold it! Now I feel I would be more successful.
QuickyBabyTV Thanks for that review, even if it's a bit older by now. :) You are totally right there, saying that the Hellcat is a formidable force in the right hands. To add a bit to what you said: highest speed I reached (goind gown hill): 92 km/h, but that was a few patches back highest damage done by me: bit over 4000 (that are round about 20 penetrating hits doing full damage) few lucky moments: Bouncing 2 Tiger-Shots in a row while penetrating it. Getting hand of god after being hit by arty and KV-2 (both splash only - lucky!) There's one thing I experienced while driving the Hellcat: You can use it any way you want. You can just do your standard TD-mode and just move to different sniping positions using the speed. You can do a scout, as you ahve shown. You can even try medium, circling a heavy tank (did that quiet a few times). You can even do a heavy and move right up to your opponents, being in the midst of the fight, the spearhead of your teams attack. It's got a lot of potential, but it's hard to put it to the best possible use. I have played a few more games in the Hellcat( by now about 1/5-1/4 of my games, amounting up to over 2k Hellcat games), but I don't think I've fully mastered it yet - even though my clan thinks I did (that's where my nick originates). So, thanks for the review, quicky.
This is one of the tanks that got me playing WoT. As such I got this tank pretty early in my WoT career.......and I sucked hard at it. Since then I have come to learn the mechanics better and love TD's. I repurchased the Hellkitty this past weekend and now rule with it. I average 1k xp easily per game and alot of thanks go to youtubers like QB,Jingles, and Sidestrafe
Oh man I remember when they got rid of the T30 as a tier 10 heavy. I had only been playing for a little while, so I missed out on that sweet deal. At least I was in on the KV-2 deal. Hooray for free garage slots.
1st; you either train your Commander for it 1st since it's a Commanders crew skill, or you run your teams 1st skill points to 100% & then retrain your Commander with gold. This is the 1st skill I retrain for, but until I get to 100% on the 1st skill I always go with Camouflage in a tank destroyer for the entire crew. Then this skill is automatically engaged for 100% of the time you're in a match, & you can then go for camo again since it goes back to 0% when you retrain. Good hunting!
The Hellcat is an epic tank, over tier battles don't pose a problem on any map where you can use the Hellcats speed and great camo value to good effect. Personally I struggle on the smaller city maps or those without plenty of foliage as cover. It's important to be able to snipe and remain undetected, because if you are spotted you are so easy to take down.
There were battles where up to 8 Hellcats were working ridges with devastating effect. They like to have buddies along. Unfortunately WoT cannot make it operate the way it was used.
QuickyBabyTV Both replays you showed are open maps where's there's foliage cover and good spotting opportunities. What advice do you have for Hellcats on urban maps like Kharkov and Himmelsdorf?
Hey QB, I'm a 47% WR 750 WN7 player, but I perform really well (1600 WN7) in the Hellcat! If you understand game mechanics, it's a great tank. You don't have to be a great player to play well in it!
That gun can go through the front of an is3. Not sure about the ranges though. Cromwell or Hellcat is always the hard choice for me. I like both but feel I have more tactical options in the Cromwell.
One of my favorites, and one of my most played tanks. I did 1690xp non prem raw xp on this baby. Did 2 radleys, 13 topguns on this tank alone 400+ battles
Because the tank is elited (everything researched) and it's set to accelerate crew training mode. The loader has the least xp, so he gets double xp next match. That's what the gold building signifies.
This tank is probably my favourite, it also is my best performing tank, my best game got me: XP Earned: 2,841 Total XP Earned: 4,369 Silver Earned 119,649 (Total: 84,656) Spotted: 13 Shots fired/hit/mis: 30/28/25 Damage Dealt: 4,953 Spotting Damage: 1,887 Kills: 6 Awards: 5 Such an amazing tank :D
knocked-over trees really do count as camouflage, it has been changed few patches ago (in 8.3 or 8.4 maybe? I'm not sure).... but I think standing trees give you absolutely no camo value, but I coul'd be wrong
I see but I'll get a that tank since it's common to me to be destroyed first than destroy the enemy tank first though. of course I'm still new after all. thanks for the info.
On my Hellcat I have full camo skills, and when hidden behind a bush I would hold fire if an enemy was within 300m, if they were over 300m away the chances for being detected was close to zero... The camo factor on the Hellcat is very good.
Hmmm, never thought of using the gasoline on the Hellcat, even though I use it on T34 for the exact same purpose. Gotta try it out. Thanks for the tip.
My best game in Hellcat was a mostly T7 match, where I worked eastern flank of Steppes (south spawn point) basically in a duo with friendly IS. He died around enemy base, then I had a bit of one on one with Jagdpanther, who I took out without loosing a single HP, and then I rushed back to friendly base just in time to save friendly arty and kill last enemy tank - Panther. Overall 5 kills, just 3% of Tiger short of Top Gun (which I sadly never managed on Hellcat) and praise from team on chat :)
So I am just now getting this tank to get the extra 15 BP points(Tier 6). It seems OP almost stock and the 76 mm doesn't suck either. Of course it is 2023 and this replay is exactly 10 years old. So there may have been NERF/Buffs! Thanks for the content QB
Hi, what are the best crew skills for hellcat? In the video quickybaby has repair and i find that quite wierd, because, as he mentiones, hellcat is a 2-3 shot vehicle for others, so you are either alive and well or dead and, sometimes, angry. Why not to get a camo (i personaly went for clutch breaking for the driver and camo all around) and avoid being dead or shot on in the first place?
I have been waiting for Jingles or QB to make a review of this tank... I mean, kitty's got claws, and they are damn sharp and accurate. Who does not like the hellcat?
With the 90 mil this tank is so good. Sometimes i bounce shots off the turret but that is not something i rely on. The gun is so good i adverage 1,8k damage a game. Just an awesome fast TD.
QB I really enjoy your vids & it just dawned on me just how long you've been playing WoT. Incredible! When you started how extreme was the tier spread anyway? & a free T34 with everything else? Nice! Again, thanks for passing along your extensive experience to us. I use it daily to make my tanking much better. Like getting Patrol Duty on my Pz Ausf. C by using that tree/bush combo mid map with camo net/binos mounted. Hmm, might be time to watch that match again, cheers!
GJ QB as usual...I have some good replays of my Hellcat but with my stats as bad as they are I dont share my replays because of the asshats that will without question have some sort of ignorant crap to say.But I have had these same type runs in mine as you did here and am 50% with my hellcat.I really need to stop running all 50 of my tanks as often as i can to get my stats back to at least 50% again as they were before but I just play to play now, stats dont mean alot to me! Its about fun now.
ellcat crews found the higher speeds especially useful in a sprint to flank German tanks, which had relatively slow turret traverse speeds, and such maneuvering allowed the tank destroyer crew a shot instead into the enemy's thinner side or rear armor. - this is taken from Wikipedia on the hellcat and it has a source attached to it, so indeed the hellcat really had a slow traverse speed. Wargaming doesnt balance the gameplay with slowing down the speed of a tank./turret
no the all turreted td's had weaker turret traverse engines, even though they have turrets they are td's, they were meant to take up positions like artillery but on flater ground
nice video and awsome games as always :) I love my M36 Jackson, it has quite decent armor for tier 6 TD, but I think I will try to grind the other line and get my own Hellcat soon, it really looks good
I'm kind of curious about the spotting location you picked on southern Redshire. What sort of speed does a TD need to get there in time to do some good work? I'm mainly curious about it for my scout tanks and wondering whether I will have to compete with other TDs who want the same spotting location.
Shiek Noah yeah but what if they were afk or bots? you never know... also some players tend to get (as the mighty jingles will lovingly refer to as) $h!t to the brain, so it's definitely possible. :)
Hellcat is a scary beast. Though the one thing Hellcat fears, turning a corner and seeing a KV-2 ready to shoot.... I was in that KV-2 and simply said, "well, Hello..."
I think he meant one game in a tier 8 and one game in a tier 6. That way you cover them both. I personally feel showing the two tier 8 games shows the potential of the hellcat in any tier it faces.
the lee has massive DPM for its tier with good penetration As a support tank, it's utterly brilliant, while the AMX is just a minor diversion to people that don't know to just shoot the flattest bit you see
This TD is one of the best in the game. It is so fun to drive and it practically has an edge in everything except armor, who doesn't love a rotating turret? Of course, it is a TD, what do you expect?
After the hetzer and m4 gold nerf the M3 lee isnt having such a nightmare as it used to. In the same category as the lee you have the AMX 40 (the duck)
I know it says that Hellcat is faster than T67, but in game Hellcat never reaches it's 70km/h top speed. It goes the same speed as T67 at best, and doesn't accelarate nearly fast enough as T67
The Lee is kind of hard to use.... putting it nicely. It is a Medium tank with no turret and it is a very big target. It has a fairly good gun (in its tier) but that's it.
For some reason recently, my hellcat gets up and goes until an enemy gets close, then it takes FOREVER to get going. Still one of my favorite tanks, though.
The M3 lee isn't that bad... everyone just says it is cause it has so many weaknesses and Jingles always goes on about how much he hates it. Playing a tank well means exploiting its strengths and covering its weaknesses. For instance the lee performs very badly on hills and when fighting around right-hand corners. So avoid hills and try to stick to the right side of the map when in city battles, so most of the corners you run into will be left-hand ones.
Sorry for my stupid question, but which mod pack do you have installed? (you can see spotted vehicles on the mini map with names, you can see nr. of played games, efficiency, etc...) thanks for your response and sorry for my english...
I love how you explain not only what you are doing, but your thought process behind WHY you take the actions that you do. Also thank you for zooming in on the results page. On a cell you can't read the numbers elsewise.
What he fails to mention is that the hellcat has completely overpowered camo, it's basically the equivalent of a klingon cloaking device.
Well, you better find its tail pipe and make your shell track it...
That's probably cus like 99% of Hellcat drivers use a camo net
camo net + camo + everyone can do camo in mine
ive got a camo net, and exterior visual camo, and I usually hide in bushes.
... seems legit
At 13:13 did anybody else see the destroyed tank spinning in the cap circle? :)
norcalboy93 oh yea lol
thx for the review, I love this tank, one of the few tanks I never sold and still play it after getting it to elite.
I love the Hellcat! Incredibly versatile. I need to learn when to hold my shots. I often find myself in deep scouting positions, similar to the first replay and most times I don't yet have the self control to stay quiet when I have delicious shots lined up.
I've played with almost every tank in the game, and believe me - hellcat is the best and the most fun vehicle in world of tanks!!
13:15 .....that BP wreck is turning around.....
I saw that too
indeed Striker977
hahahaahah u s right
Hi QB, just used the Hellcat exactly as you did in a Redshire encounter battle. Not as epic as your battle but your spotting bush worked a treat.
Many thanks and keep up the good work.
This is my favourite tank
k
cool
Not been playing long and im rubbish. Just got the Hellcat and love it. Your vids are helping me soo much. Thankyou.
YES Falling trees DO provide cover now...they DID reduce foliage's camo factor down a lil tho so that they could implement the camo paint and net as cumulative! You may want to read the NEW patch updates ;)
No 6th sense makes me play more passively than I would like to right now, especially in T8 games where I get 2 hit by many tanks.
This is by FAR my favorite tank. I only have 2 Radley Walters medals, but they both came from playing this tank. The T-49 is also a lot of fun leading up to the Hellcat so I would recommend picking that route to get there.

Credits received: 55,300

taking a look at your old vids QB and they give me seriously Nostalgia
Love the helcat. Once i finaly start playing wot i want to go for it

"I like to do active fighting" Lol, you've sure proven that over the years...
Love qb vids. One thing I would remind people of is if you are in a bush and want to fire and not be spotted, retreat from bush temporarily so your muzzel blast is hidden. After you lose spots, move forward again. Rinse and repeat.

I agree completley with this review. One of my fav tanks in game, even managed to get a crucial contribution in a 2 man hellcat platoon.
When that Super Pershing comes over the ridge and gets tracked, that looks like me in the Churchill I or VII in any map that has hills ever. Then again, the SP actually has acceptable gun depression, unlike the Churchills.
I wish I could, you guys need to get on the SEA forums and tell them you watch me and want to be included in the giveaways EU and NA get!
yea they do and standing trees work but can only really be used if you are above them looking down at your target.
You should definitely consider looking at the T49, QuickyBaby. It is much like the Hellcat, but almost MORE versatile if you can believe it. One of my most memorable matches, was me spotting on cap point with my broken VK36 (gunner and gun down) for a Hellcat who got 11 kills in the end...
Same thing with the King Tiger and the Panther, but they gave them the emergency hand crank traverse speed instead for balance.
Excellent review. I just picked up my Hellcat and working on tricking it out. It's definitely a keeper for sure.
5% of the EXP you earn is given as free EXP. I play about 150-200 games of tanks a week averaging 1k+ exp per game lets factor in I win 60-70% of my games roughly which means that that % are doubles.
*
i.e. 150-200 games * 1000 * 1.65 = 330,000 exp a week / 20 = 16,500 free exp per week.
*
This does not account for 3x or 5x events where I make vastly more.
*
It also doesn't account for the fact that my wins are larger than my losses and only wins are doubled.
*
TDLR I make 20k free EXP a week.

Damn quicky, you play it totally like how I use my Hellcat. got over 500 battles in the thing, and this thing is a BLAST to play with.

Very nice review, great shots and useful tactical infos.

The mechanics changed somewhere along the line round 8.4 I think. Knocked down trees do count as camo.

Did quite well with my Hellcat though I still prefer Jackson. Just swapped my Camo net with Bino. Will run them to see how it goes...
The one in the cap? Saw it aswell.
And I was just watching another replay from a friend. There his Churchill was moving under the count down to start.
So I am just now getting this tank to get the extra 15 BP points(Tier 6). It seems OP almost stock and the 76 mm doesn't suck either. Of course it is 2023 and this replay is exactly 10 years old. So there may have been NERF/Buffs! Thanks for the content QB
I am here because of the Super Hellcat video :)
Tunnel visioned on the T29 and forgot about the Hummel. lol.
Even the mighty Q/B is mortal.
With the 90 mil this tank is so good. Sometimes i bounce shots off the turret but that is not something i rely on. The gun is so good i adverage 1,8k damage a game. Just an awesome fast TD.
Hey Quicky whats your thougths on the Jackson?
QB I really enjoy your vids & it just dawned on me just how long you've been playing WoT.
Incredible!
When you started how extreme was the tier spread anyway?
& a free T34 with everything else? Nice!
Again, thanks for passing along your extensive experience to us. I use it daily to make my tanking much better. Like getting Patrol Duty on my Pz Ausf. C by using that tree/bush combo mid map with camo net/binos mounted.
Hmm, might be time to watch that match again, cheers!
I agree, to my surprise I get on better with T49 than with Hellcat. I bought the T49 back again after first trading up to Hellcat
I know something wich is more worse than getting trolled by 2 hellcats:
getting trolled by 3 pz1c's
I know something wich is more worse than getting trolled by 3 Pz1c's:
getting trolled by 4 Panhard EBR 90's
GJ QB as usual...I have some good replays of my Hellcat but with my stats as bad as they are I dont share my replays because of the asshats that will without question have some sort of ignorant crap to say.But I have had these same type runs in mine as you did here and am 50% with my hellcat.I really need to stop running all 50 of my tanks as often as i can to get my stats back to at least 50% again as they were before but I just play to play now, stats dont mean alot to me! Its about fun now.
I think this tank is very good for spotting, and signalling, but it's so fragile.
Don't forget the signalling range 725 m.
I find the best features of the Hellcat are its camouflage values, view range (relative) and gun depression.
ellcat crews found the higher speeds especially useful in a sprint to flank German tanks, which had relatively slow turret traverse speeds, and such maneuvering allowed the tank destroyer crew a shot instead into the enemy's thinner side or rear armor. - this is taken from Wikipedia on the hellcat and it has a source attached to it, so indeed the hellcat really had a slow traverse speed. Wargaming doesnt balance the gameplay with slowing down the speed of a tank./turret
no the all turreted td's had weaker turret traverse engines, even though they have turrets they are td's, they were meant to take up positions like artillery but on flater ground
you could even use it as a scout as i did.
sometimes with tier 4s if i angle my front hull Armour they would bounce
I see. Well then Once I got the hands of that Tank I should be careful once I see Hetzer. Thanks for the info on M3 Lee.
There was a prototype upgrade with the Slugger's turret and 90mm, though.
nice video and awsome games as always :) I love my M36 Jackson, it has quite decent armor for tier 6 TD, but I think I will try to grind the other line and get my own Hellcat soon, it really looks good
I'm kind of curious about the spotting location you picked on southern Redshire. What sort of speed does a TD need to get there in time to do some good work? I'm mainly curious about it for my scout tanks and wondering whether I will have to compete with other TDs who want the same spotting location.
It's a shoot and scoot type tank. Get in position, fire, get out. Thats how you run them.
Cosmin Radoi bull****
Shiek Noah yeah but what if they were afk or bots? you never know... also some players tend to get (as the mighty jingles will lovingly refer to as) $h!t to the brain, so it's definitely possible. :)
Shiek Noah its not that hard to believe.
Shiek Noah look at this, /watch?v=Fg9Ts0CiIyc it's not 5, but its pretty close!
Dude, I love your American accent.
"How are we getting spotted - where are the enemies?" LOL!
oh i loved this tank its one of my favorits
well it's about the player and matchup, if the M3 lee is controlled by a player who knows it's profile and is in a tier 4 max game it can wreck face.
Hey QB, any chance you can do a guide for how to scout on the new Winter Map? I cannot find any good scouting locations anywhere...
the lee has massive DPM for its tier with good penetration
As a support tank, it's utterly brilliant, while the AMX is just a minor diversion to people that don't know to just shoot the flattest bit you see
This TD is one of the best in the game.
+Mihailo Pisanjuk this is the old hellcat...when the t49 was the tier below...look at the upload time.
What modules should i Take in MY hellcat?
I get some nostalgia when i see the old WOT garage background
Can you do a review on the m8a1 us tank destroyer and one of the predecessors of the hellcat
Quicky, kind of curious how you would stack the Hellcat up against it's predecessor, the T49 (given the matchups they get, of course).
