The best ‘star’ movies that were also well written and well performed and excellent cinematography were Mahaan, Jigardanda XX, Evano Oruvan, kattradhu Thamizh, and Naan Kadavul.
Ramana still stands up to viewing, in a way that all the following vigilante movies don’t. I think it’s the only Shankar template vigilante movie that stands out from the crowd.

Yes what is that is very true. Heroes aren't there in Tamil cinema to play the college boy or early 20s kind of characters. To play college boy 30 plus actor is being chosen
Totally disagree with him … What is the use in having a star for the makkal… The movies should be presentable and entertained for the people …then anyone can become a star ….

There is nothing like that - We had Ayodhi last year where a muslim is glorified with a name from Ramayana and character assassinating a hindu for being strict about his religious rituals. In the past, and even now we couldn't do this with 'the religion of peace' - we all knew what happened to Vishwaroopam for just having a script like it was from arabic... let alone the name!!
What Baddy meant was that it is rare these days to see a movie which is less of ‘karuthu’ - any kind of social message for the public… Vaalee was not a social message based movie - it was more of an elder brother lusting on his younger brother’s movie, where the lust was shown in a detailed way rather than a typical ‘I’m a villain, i rape women’ types…
