the god of war series has never been 100% accurate to the actual mythology. the creators did use some stuff from the mythos but mostly took liberties of their own.
There is a lot of just game play that is skipped and has a lot of story in it

They didn't show it but as he was gouging Poseidon's eyes out, he also broke his neck.
We seen it in the game. They definitely censored it. I had Tasha play the first level and the video was blocked on RUclips.

@TNT Gaming fuck man that really sucks. Just saw a video of a kid reacting to gow 3 gods deaths. And in that video, it was censored as well. He literally said "I got you guys" every time in inserted the real uncensored killing part.

No he calls him his father bc that’s what he is. Zeus even calls him his son. Kratos was the GOD of War hence hence Zeus’s Son as all the other GODs are either sons, brothers, etc

Kratos calling Zeus "Father" is just way of him being sarcastic towards Zeus
When each god dies you can see the chaos spread from god of war 2 (now in god of war 3) it shows this. Also Kratos be like "Well if it isn't the consequences of my own actions"

When Kratos killed Poseidon there was much more brutality involved, he beat the shit out of him before he took his eyes and broke his neck

In an interview the developers pretty much answered this question and stated that Kratos is about 6'6 250.
The gods in their human size are the ones who are 8ft.

So the natural disasters in this game that happen when gods die are actually inspired by a geological disaster that Greece (mostly Sparta) went through during these ancient times.

You should watch the whole move of gow 3 with no cuts between the scenes like even gameplay cuts so you can get the whole experience.

Originally kratos was 8 feet tall but the creators dumbed down his size to 6'6 feet tall. He is still a unit though eventhough they made him smaller in the later games. He is 6'6 and 250 pounds according to the creators.

so tghe biggest thing with all mythology is that they try to teach that trying to preven your fate you end up causing it. cause kratos would have never been the marked one if aries never hit him

Not sure if you already knew this. There was a Kratos in Greek mythology. God of Strength. Maybe Gaia let him fight because Kratos was just literally stronger than the titans.

Basically there was a whole boss fight with kratos fighting one of those sea horses, the battle was on gaia's shoulder if i remember correctly and the horse pierced gaia's chest to get there, the fight ended by kratos ripping of the horse's spike leg and then using his chains to swing that leg into the horse's chest to kill it.
You also missed a dialogue between poseidon and kratos,
When poseidon said "death of olympus means death of us all"
And then kratos said "then prepare for your death poseidon" and that's when kratos started killing him
Reminder that one of the spin off games that yall watched that introduced atlas cut the entire plot of Persephone (hades wife). Kratos killed her to save the world kinda.

The Norse god didn’t have a major effect over the realm they control like the Greeks did Poseidon dies the water goes into chaos the Norse dies and nothing happen. Then again the Norse gods were always meant to die and the Greeks historically were not.
@@TNTGamingonline Gods don't have mortal souls, they don't "go" anywhere per se. Mortals go to hades or valhalla depending on which mythological world they're from, but not gods. Although there are exceptions, the most common theory is that their energy is simply dispersed when gods die, so there is no afterlife for gods
@@lewd2851 you clearly never read the god of war lore. The gods do go to an afterlife after they die lol. The gods of the Norse realm go to valhalla no matter how they die whereas only mortals who die in battle can go there. In the Greek world the gods are either reincarnated as another being or they go to hades or the elisium field like mortal do but they have special privileges in the afterlife since they're "gods". Kratos basically f'd up the entire Greek realm so the gods souls didn't go anywhere and they were just erased from existence. The Norse gods also have an afterlife and a soul as shown in Ragnarok when they had to destroy Zeus soul to make sure he didn't get an afterlife. It was also stated that magni and modi were meant to go to valhalla after death same as baldur.
You gotta check out the GoW ascension opening at some point. It shows the creation of the Greek world before the titans.
There is a reason why the Greeks converted to Christianity so quickly the Book Of Enoch is basically a mirror of Greek Mythology. Greek called them gods and Titans, Christians called them The Nephilim and Giants.
You guys definitely missed out on the cutscene that plays before you get to the title screen. It's literally one of the most beautiful and epic game intros you'll ever see.

There were several flood stories in Greek mythology/ religion. Differing sources refer to the flood of Ogyges, the flood of Deucalion, and the flood of Dardanus, though often with similar or even contradictory details. Like most flood myths, these stories often involve themes of divine retribution, the savior of a culture hero, and the birth of a nation or nations. In addition to these floods, Greek mythology also says the world was periodically destroyed by fire, such as in the myth of Phaëton.

For world ending events, there have always been elements to them.
Ice, ice age supercooling
Fire, nuclear fire because of nukes
Water, mass floods due to melting ice caps
Electricity solar flare, or neutron ray burst, vaporize all water on earth in 5 sec, caused by a distant star
Rock, asteroid from outer solar system, comet, etc

In greek mythology in the myth of respecting hospitality it was zeus who flooded an entire region punishing all who refused him hospitality. Except for Baucus and philomon

Funny enough a lot thinks that Kratos is a fictional character. I checked many years ago. There was an actual demigod named Kratos.... He just wasn't an important demigod

Yeah just to let ya know that when a Greek God dies whatever they controlled goes out of control so Poseidon dying is the reason everything flooded bc he controlled the seas

When you are actually playing Poseidon Death is even more impactful, because even thou the perspective is from Poseidon, you still control Kratos.
In the end you have to press the two analogs to poke his eyes, and you feel It in the controler.
Someone has to link it, but a comedy sketch of all the gods in like a hell editing room talking to each other. And the joke about what he did to posiedon being a hate crime to the only black character has me rolling everytime

Regarding the massive flood theory, Norse mythology doesn't have the flooding, it is believed that Ragnarök will be unleashed when the titan is released, engulfing our existance with fire and brimstone. Still technically a flood.. but hotter.
The whole walk through of the games are worth watching and you’ll see what kratos is about. So much is being left out
The greek version of noah's flood was called the Deucalion.
I enjoy these videos, but I kinda wish you guys were recommended a better video of the story of gow as context and important moments are missing from the story.
its pretty good so far just hope it keeps up, they skipped some little dialogues that would have been cool if they kept it in like when Poseidon says the death of zues means the death of us all and then kratos says "then prepare for YOUR death Poseidon" wish that little line would've stayed in

The great flood happened during the titans war on the greek mythology in fact because of the titan oceano, wich basically is like the water version of gaia and was male, refused to fight

I know I'm way late watching you guys, but this is awesome watching others reactions to what is, to me, the greatest video game story and character ever written. The development through the years has been amazing to play along with. What is cool though is there was a God named Kratos but was spelled Cratos. In Greek mythology he was the divine personification of strength. So yes he was a real god they just changed his story. It's really cool seeing someone just watching a God of War video from now and wanted to know more about him. Same exact thing happened with my mother in law. What's funny is I resemble him a bunch, not a joke. I have a bunch of really cool God of War shirts. Well I brought and wore them on our last cruise and can't tell you how many times I was stopped and asked that was me on the shirt or "where did you get that made with you on it. It looks really cool the way they did that". I laughed and had to tell them it wasn't me it's a video game. Even a group of younger teens, every time they saw me it was "sup Kratos". I mean yes I'm bald and have a long bear. Can't help that I'm also 6'5 and 240 pounds neither. But all jokes aside we really do resemble a lot.
There was a Kratos in actual Hellenic religion. He is the son of river goddess Styx and was a firm ally of Zeus against the Titans during the Titanomachy, so much so that Kratos and his brother and two sisters were the guardians of Zeus's throne.
In the games when a god or goddess dies everything they ruled over becomes unstable. When Poseidon is killed the seas becomes wild and swallow the land at will because there is no longer a god to control them.
Furthermore, in actual Hellenic religion the gods are called the "deathless ones" so they cannot technically die, the same goes for the titans because the titans are deities as well. Love watching yalls reactions!!!!!

I don’t know if people told you already but the time skip on this wasn’t really bad since it was mostly gameplay and maybe a few dialogues that would have been interesting for you guys to hear but nothing that makes people say “So many details were left out” so don’t worry on this one though I’m sure people will tell you in the next one if you do by any chance miss important dialogues do the the time skip

Even when the videos didn't show it,in 'ghost of sparta' Kratos destroyed the entire Atlantis.
Which could explain why poseidon was so easy to kill for Kratos.
Also the video toke away how many times Kratos smashed poseidon's face against the rocks before he threw him to the edge.

Still funny how in all the games the gods supported Kratos and gave him power each time.
Even Zeus used to appear disguised as a old gravedigger to help Kratos escape the underworld when Ares killed him,which is how Ares got the pandora's box (but the videos skipped it)
And he also warned Kratos he was becoming "Death,the destroyer of worlds"
So, Kratos's choices are the only reason he suffers.
And he knows that.
The anger he feels towards himself is what makes him blind.
So he just projects on anything that reminds him about his own person,which is every god.
Gaia saw that and started to manipulate him to save the Titans.
In Greek mythology Ares and other creatures fight against the Olimpus and after that,they forced the gods to never interact with humans again.
Also there was a Kratos,child of titans,whom fought with his brother and sisters beside Zeus against the titans.
That Kratos was really loyal to Zeus,and this one gave him the task to chain prometheus for stealing the fire of Olimpus.
And Athena was one of the very few gods who actually did loved and respected the human kind. (Even if the romans tried to portrait her as a tyrant)

I'm curious if they know but God of War is not telling what really happened in Greek Mythology, it's just using names and the basics of the tales. It's a fictional version.
The really Kratos was not God of War, he was the God of Destruction and Violence.

With every god kratos kills the domains they control goes back to the primordial time of the Titian’s so like when he kills Poseidon he is no longer there to keep control over the oceans

I think, when Athena died, every God on Olympus lost their ability to reason. Kratos keeps going, Zeus didn't just finish Kratos in the beginning and every other god just kept taunting and trying to kill a God killer. Even Heracles kept pushing Kratos even when he didn't want that smoke.
If your confused about Poseidon’s thing with horses,he’s apperently also the god of horses,literally google it. Kratos is also to kill gods now,since he realizes that he’s the son of Zeus,so he knows he’s a demigod,which activates his half god powers. Originally he was mortal,then he got 2 sick blades,than became a god,then a demigod,and back to being a full on god

Gaia kept climbing even as Kratos pleaded that he had nowhere to hold. Gaia did not care. Gaia valued saving a couple seconds more than the ally that just bodied one of the top three Gods. Gaia is kinda dumb.
