I could buy one of these for $500 in my home town. Has set for atleast a year or 2. Has no title is my big concern. I've never gotten a salvage title before. But I'm fairly certain it's not stolen, this is a small town and the ad has been up for months. Think it's worth? Any advice?

This might be old news but I got a kick out of traffic cop Jerry Palladino offering to teach you how to ride a motorcycle.
My first motorcycle (not the one I learned on, but one I owned and rode and got my wings on) was a 1983 Magna V45. I absolutely loved it and still miss it. I know, it's not the 1100 monstrosity, but that 750 V4 was SWEET! I still think about it and love watching you wax poetic about the Magna/Saber of the days past. BTW, I still have a motor for the V45 in a basement. That poor thing went on me on a very romantic trip with a very special someone, who has now been my wife for 28 years. If you want a parts donor, LMK. I'm in Massachusetts.

The rocket 3 is no joke! I’m really hoping I win this, I lined up against one that had some work done on my z1000. I’m a fast rider in my own right I’ve run a 10.24 1/4 @ 135 with the z1000. but the rocket 3 was in my mirror the whole time and with how big and plush it is that’s a seriously sweet ride

You do need to oil the filter. Yes the oil will stop dirt but it more importantly slows down air delivery to the carbs. Other wise it will run lean.
Plus, the foam filters are designed to be used oiled.

What I am about to post is gonna be controversial,
I bought a 1986 V65 VF1100 Sabre for 600 dollars in 2002. Shaft drive same paint job. I also received the drive chain including engine from a V65 VF1100 Magna. I removed the Sabres 40mm carbs and replaced them with the 44mm Magna Carbs, I also switched out the cams from the high mileage Sabre to the Magna Cams a difference of horse power vs torque. The Shaft drive took a little bit getting used to, also the difficulty of finding the Original expansion gaskets for the muffler... Unbelievable. Loved that Bike

Getting a Rocket 3 to 240 or even 300 horsepower is easy, but it would cost 5-6 grand. A TTS supercharger kit with a bunch of replacement parts and it would be an animal. Not sure how available those kits are now that these bikes start getting older.
finally, a channel that works on a vf bike that is over 420p quality, keep up the good work!
I really felt that when you said you've had to order the same part like three times because I keep going back and forth between sites and forums trying to figure out what part is the right part lol I just picked up a 1984 sabre v45! So far done the oil change and new oil filter, rebuilt the clutch slave cylinder and currently waiting on the clutch master cylinder rebuild kit and a seal for the front left caliper (it was old and leaked all over the caliper). But then hopefully getting her out of the driveway. I got lucky and the clutch itself is healthy, engine is healthy, carbs were clean and working great and the bike turns right over, just had all the clutch cylinder issues. Then flushing the coolant and replacing the coolant hoses and during winter I'm gonna tear it all down and upgrade the brake lines and get some new ones on for the brakes and clutch etc.
Love those old school bucket shaped fairings. Been encouraged to see cheap bike companies bringing them back on their various “cafe racer” style small bikes. I just want a small commuter bike but if I like the look its more fun for sure.

I’m 46 and grew up and road most bikes and I always liked the V45 and V65 mag’s! They was quick bikes for their time! Just good reliable bikes! You see them around here and there most are almost shot or in a garage!
I could only find one for sale in the EU, €4.500, 26000km., 1984, in Spain.

I love my V65 Sabre. What I DONT like is that yellow ass headlight I keep procrastinating to change out-You helped me get into it. I have an extra parts bike with 8k miles...thats why you dont see em anymore..lol.

There's just something about inline-triples... I love a BIG straight 4, a v-twin, a 270ish degree inline twin and a boxer twin, but man those inline triples just have a LOT of character both in how they sound and how they make power.
I used to have one of these.Freaking fastest stoplight to stoplight bike for a long time!! Even the V45 is seriously fast.

Back in 2008 I found one of the last remaining clean Sabers. I never got the carbs perfect but it was great. Sadly I sold it for a song when I moved in 2011. What a bike.
I forget all the tricks but I think a Ford Escort air filter fits almost perfectly. Or maybe it was an Escort fuel filter. Whatever 😝

The fuse block rode in front of the gauge cluster with the fairing installed. There was a smaller box that housed all of the relays and wiring.
My first motorcycle was a Honda Sabre v65 that looked just like this one.
21:46, plenty of torque is a bit of an understatement. AFAIK every iteration of the Rocket III has more torque at idle rpm than the max torque of a Hayabusa.
The fun part of mechanicing is getting paid to fit new parts, I love fitting new shiny parts. The problem solving/fault diagnosis side, is the rough, especially electrical fault finding,yuk. And getting to test ride lots of different bikes is a fun side. I like knowing my bike is 100% safe, especially if I got to do 150+ mph on it.😂😂
Hey I have an 82 saber 750 all it needs is a new petcock valve and a battery I started a v4 muscle bike for it back when I got it but never followed up on it. It's been my garage princess so long I even have a 3d scan I'm going to be printing at some point

I still want to try razor clams 🤤🤤. I love all the different types of food here. Some are pricey and some are a real bargain. If I win the rocket 3 I'll have to keep it for a while. Shade tree excuse me if you’re already aware of this, use silicate Free antifreeze. A lot of antifreeze compounds have silicate to clean the radiator, engine etc. However, silicate / sand, will kill the water pump. Also the yellow MAP gas will heat things up better than propane.

I hunted for one of these forever when I started riding. Ended up with a Suzuki Madura 1200 that was a freaking beast, but maybe one of the uglier bikes I ever owned. If you ever get a chance to ride one, give it a shot.
A "Fuse block" in the headlight area has to be a pain to access once it is assembled.
If I remember right, the Rocket is torque limited in 1st gear and maybe 2nd too. She would fry that rear tire if you could get rid of that!
Yup! It’s done by the secondary butterflies, I have them removed in mine!

Engineers! I to was one to blame them for all the woes found all over bikes and autos. Until my son became one. He works in automotive engineering and it's not the engineering, it's company and expense. He built several turbo cars before getting his degree so he was well aware of the mechanic issues. He found out early, the standard response to any questions of helping the mechanic was, make it fit and make it work within the boundaries. In general, stuff it. So it's not that engineering is out to screw mechanics, it's costs and available space. Emissions is the biggest one to cause this. So they are very aware, their hands are tied.

I didn't even know the Sabre existed. Before this, if someone said "Honda Sabre", my mind would immediately go to the Shadow 1100 Saber, which is a V-twin.
It's like deja-vu all over again. That's alright it is worth watching twice.

Oil on your filters don’t have anything to do with what kind of bike it is it has to do with your filter material and a good k and n helps shed water on street bikes if they are exposed filters

Foam doesn't stop the fine particulate. The way a foam filler works is to stop the large stuff and hold the oil that grabs onto the fine micron size particulate. 40 year bike tech, just saying.

Shade Tree, has twisted wrenches part-time for well over 50 years and have worked on several of these God Forsaken POS V65 series bikes. If you find one you will notice that they have low mileage, as at around the 40K mark nearly all will have crankshaft failure. Some years back got stuck working on one belonging to a friend. I told him before I even put it in the shop that most likely the crank will be SHOT, well I was correct. He never found a crankshaft that was serviceable, a crappy used one was around $1200, in 1997, and a new one was simply unobtainable at any price. I would RUN away from any of those series 500, 650 and 750 engines as they are a problem in the waiting. They are even worse for lifespans than the old Kawasaki H series 3 cylinder 2 strokes, they had a short life between overhauls, but you could rebuild them however.
