- A quick hand-s on review of the latest Casio G-shock Rangeman GPR-H1000. Not gonna lie, when it was first announced I didn't like it at all. In fact, I was disappointed but after checking it out in person it's actually pretty cool.

SOFTWARE UPDATE:
Just an FYI that the GPR-H1000 received an update, which enables much faster satellite connection.
Massive practical improvement.
I'm so impressed with this piece, and it's usability now.
IMHO, it's an issue that should've been addressed before release in that I believe damage was done to the reputation of both Casio and the Gshock/ Rangeman name.
That said, this watch is now a complete workhorse for me.

Got to be honest, I kinda like it.
About the 9400 model in the video:
I bought mine(original) 9400 in 2014 and it has an absolut crisp and crystalclear display, nothing "washed out" or faded...
It`s one of the best LCdisplays on a digital Gshock ever. These "washed out displays" are on a lot of newer Gshocks, also on the new mudman 9500 (and on the newer releases of the 9400 with fancy colours as background since about 2016, like yours in this vid!) Casio saves money on lowering the quality since quite some years to make more profit.
Of course a MIP display is superior, like on my GBD H2000, but that doesn´t make a LCdisplay look terrible, if it`s a good one like on the ORIGINAL first 9400 model.
I am collecting watches since 40 years now(also a lot of Casios), and your claim, the display of a 9400 looks terrible, shows me, you don`t know the real deal or are not very experienced in Casios .

A watch for over $600 and they put mineral glass in it like it's some $25 crap. Well done CASIO! PS. I have a GW9400 myself and, yes, I know it also has mineral glass...
I've found the sensor accuracy to be on par with with my Garmin instinct 2x

How durable is the strap mounting on this watch. One user on RUclips reported play in the lugs and stripped threads.
Since I borrowed the watch for a short period of time I can't really tell.
If METAL GEAR REX was a watch!
It reminds me of a simpler time where style watch much better.

I like it, but important how often you need to charge it, if Solar with a few less functions it would be cool.
If not using all of the fitness and tracking functions all the time,the battery will last a month or so. Mine has lasted over a month with just notifications on and only have the gps and heart rate on when I want to use it. Still on 3 bars of battery.
I'm in the sun a fair bit so the solar probably helps it stay alive.
You can just have it as a solar watch

Hi! I didn't look for those when I had the watch but according to Casio the watch has a tide graph.

Agreed. I wish they would have upgraded the original range man and just added gps.
You don't need to use them or connect to the phone. I rarely do.
You can not have the smartwatch feature activated and it's just like a regular watch

If you use it just like a watch and not connect it via bluetooth it will last for years
