Pull the cooler and do a repaste. See if that fixes the thermal problem. Those EVGA 1080Ti FTW3s do NOT run hot unless heavily overclocked. I could regularly push mine to over 2000Mhz without breaking a sweat before I did the hybrid kit to it, and then that same card did something like 2200-2250Mhz off the top of my head. That was like... 4 years ago though, so fuzzy memory is definitely a thing.
