Sakevi was one of a kind. GISM were a huge influence on my tastes in punk/hardcore. His legend will live on. Great tribute.

Sakevi was always my hero I listened to GISM since I was 11 and they where my favorite band ever since. RIP to the best to the legend himself Sakevi Yokoyama.
And RIP RANDY UCHIDA, THE BEST FUCKING GUITAR PLAYER OF ALL TIME!
When i first listened to GISM it was on a cassette it was the song Document one. And a friends bro gave me the cassette when he was moving out to collage in 2000 and i had heard like crass and stuff back then but i never heard anything that was so angry and obscure. And i fucking loved it it spoke to me GISM is why i got into Punk, Dbeat, Extreme metal ext.
Cool vinyls btw I have some of them but not as many cool ones as you.
Thanks for the vid, its always cool to hear from other G.I.S.M. fans.

Cheers, glad you enjoyed the video and so many people are praising and spreading the grand legend of the mighty GISM, a band that back in the day, as I’m sure you know, was one of the more difficult and mysterious bands to try to find info on, along with my other faves like Confuse. I will always be thankful to the great music from Japan and Finland for early on opening my eyes to the music and culture of civilizations I might not have known as much about otherwise. Great to see the effect of his art and music, along with the genius wizardry of Randy Uchida can inspire generations of punk rock maniacs just as it did me. Stay fuckin’ Metal and thanks for the convo!

    If you care...
    Gism - “Ghi-sum”
You can hear Sakevi pronounce the name in “Death, Agonies and Screams”. I used to pronounce the name as you do until I was corrected by Dwid of Integrity on a phone call with him in 1996. Translated out of Japanese katakana, the band is sometimes referred to as “Gismu”.
    Sakevi - “Sock-ay-vee”
    (H.R.) Giger - “Ghi-ger”
Rhymes with meager, this is how he pronounced his own name. I used to pronounce it as you do as well until I read the proper pronunciation.
    Kuro - “Koo-rho”
If you want to be specific, subtly roll the r.
My first introduction to Japanese Hardcore was mail-ordering the “Thrash ’Til Death” LP from Pushead in 1989 and a home-recorded tape someone sent me with Detestation and a lot of other obscure HC in 1989 or ’90.
Consider it nerdy...I consider it respectful to the individuals and their culture. Americans are notorious abroad for mispronouncing foreign words. I am also a first-generation Japanese-Amercan. Domo arigato.

Oh for sure, I would love to do a Rudimentary Peni focused episode and definitely use that to spotlight Blinko and his extremely important effect he had on me through art. I’m definitely gonna add that to the already gigantic list. Hope you enjoyed the video.

Ghoul is amazing, I love that Jerusalem record, I remember finding them on A Farewell to Arms compilation along with Gastunk, LSD is pretty solid too, I still gotta grab that discography record from a few years back, I can’t remember who put that out. I have seen Burst City, with the famous scene of SKV fighting a Rasta, I love The Stalin, so that was something I was after for a long time. Got to stream it on the Arrow Video service. Tons of fun.

@@manserfaustprod I love Crust, Punk, grind, Dbeat, Noise of any way shape or form. Its sic i just found your channel there are not a lot of people who talk about Real punk on yt anymore. All the power to you. I always try to let others know that Japan has a shit ton of really bad ass bands oldschool Extream punk and metal to listen to! I always tell my older buddys who are hardcore venom fans to check out Sabbat, Ghoul and GISM! thanks for helping the scene out with your content!
