I think with all of the teams being so close in the standings. The first domino to fall can alter the standings so much that it could be unfavorable for any team to either make their team worse or another team better. Difference in dropping 5 places in a matter of a week.
Jazz went from 1st seed to 9th a few weeks ago in the space of a few days 😂
@@jacksoncorbett1063 then the suns went 1st into 8th, while the nets went from 14th to 3rd
Plus some of the teams that might sell have already sold all their vets (OKC for example).
@@rnac5438 love that the suns fell, hope they miss the playoffs.
Here's the reason why there are so few trades: the closeness in both the east and west races makes the entire landscape seem unsettled, so teams don't know which specific pieces they lack because of how unusually indeterminate the leads are this season.
Here’s your problem. That’s A reason. Two things can be true, yours isn’t the end all be all just because you thought it up.
I agree but also they see Golden State was built primarily with working with what you got. After years together they develop a cohesiveness you can't buy with trades. I don't think the fans really like the LeBron ring chase syndrome.
Than why people like John Collins aren’t getting traded they aren’t valued to their team
Also recent trades (both the package and return on investment) are kinda wack. I also believe teams are now more willing to try to keep the core for longer to see how high the chemistry can get (please Nets, for the sake of good basketball, don't trade anybody!)
Exactly, how you gonna sell if you might also be one trade away? Like in other years the pacers, heat, raptors, wizards, jazz, suns would just blow it up because it doesn’t seem to be working, but this year they might be a single move away from the finals.
Literally as he says there is a trade going to happen after the video is posted, I get a notification for Celtics trading Noah Vonleh, not a splash but this man doesn't miss.
Freddy needs to have another kid so he can play better😂
I think the play in ruined trades in season bc teams 11-13 are still playing meaning full games until March to have a chance to make the play in so if there’s only 4 teams out of 30 not playing for anything it’s hard to convince teams to trade
Also lowering draft odds to 14% for first pick there’s No reason to chalk the season in November/December
I think it’s a mix of not wanting to upset the balance going on now where everyone is scrapping over their spots. And if you aren’t on that type of timing you’re in the Wemby sweepstakes. Even the lower ranked teams has nothing to really trade for
Lower ranked teams won't trade anything until after the results of the draft lottery
We would happily take Alex Caruso off your hands 🙂
as soon as I clicked on this video Woj dropped the first trade of the season- Noah Vonleh to Spurs, boring
Hear me out, Deangelo for Freddy
Shout out to you Kenny 🙏🏽🙏🏽 you the goat
Imagine demar back in Toronto
I think another factor is the draft in general. With the end of the superteam era, teams are realizing the draft is the best way to build a strong core. That, and the last few years have shown a LOT of talent all over the draft.
Players like Haliburton, Poole, and especially Joker showing success with as far down in the draft as they were makes teams reevaluate what is valuable in a draft selection, not just athleticism
I agree 100%
You’re ignoring the OUTLIER.
Jokic is an outlier.
@@robert2690 its not about getting MVPs and allstars, its about getting quality players who can fit your scheme.
my opinion superteams isn’t over their just isn’t a super team right know
there is so much wear and tear that a superteams chance to stay healthy is slim meaning you just end up with a bad team going for the chip (warriors were a god team that could afford to have injuries and still win)
Gobert trade messed up market. Seeing that overpay made everyone value their first round picks more.
So crazy how everyone agrees that trade was a complete fleece, but they still use it to set their asking prices, make it make sense
The same organization agreed to the Donovan Mitchell trade and that seems like a fair price to be fair it was much less than gobert
Keep same energy 🐺🐺
@@jakerobin1708 Wasn't the Cavs trade very similar to the Gobert trade?
Cavs: Lauri Markkanen, rookie wing Ochai Agbaji, guard Collin Sexton, three unprotected first-round picks (2025, 2027 and 2029) and two pick swaps (2026 and 2028).
Wolves: Patrick Beverley, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro, Walker Kessler, four first-round picks (unprotected: 2023, 2025, 2027 and top 5 protected: 2029) and a 2026 pick swap.
So the Wolves gave a protected pick instead of the extra pick swap the Cavs did. Wolves gave up 5 players, one who is a very promising rookie. Cavs gave an all-star in Lauri Markkanen who is now going to be the #1 or #2 cornerstone of the Jazz franchise, a lottery draft pick In Ochai + Sexton. Players in both trades are valuable, but the Cavs are more because they gave the Jazz their franchise cornerstone.
Seems pretty equal given the value of the players and the extra pick swap just being a protected pick for Minny.
@@lylaeloise3948 thanks for the comment that showed both trades. Really made it easy to understand. Looks like the Jazz got some insaaaaaaaane value for blowing up their team. Tbh I’m proud of them.
I can’t be the only person who got extremely excited when he said he wanted to treat this channel as his main channel. The content Kenny produces and releases here is amazing and I find myself loving every single upload. And it is great to see that he is enjoying it more too, so very grateful that this channel is thriving how it is
I barely watch his gaming channel anymore mostly bc I don’t play 2k very much anymore. I’ll always tune in over here and for the pod tho
Not a major trade but the Celtics traded Vonleh to the spurs right after the vid dropped 😂 Kenny always knows
Im waiting on some trades too, I think the Rudy trade has shaken up the market for a little while, combined with the fact that so many teams are so close in the standings.
I think the difference is this year the standings are really close so every team is a buyer and there arent many sellers out there. For example, the Pacers who many thought would look to trade Myles and Buddy, now are probably looking to trade maybe a younger player to make their team better.
Lots of buyers and no sellers lol
This channel is the perfect step. It allows the fans who watched your KOT4Q videos growing up to mature with you as your content shifts.
I agree I used to wwatch KOT4Q videos every single day and now because of 2K. I don’t look for them a whole lot I just watch for Kenny but this channel I can’t wait for a vid to drop
Fr I can’t stand 2k but I watch every other Kenny vid whether it’s this channel the pod or anything else
I think Fred will bounce back eventually. This the biggest slump he’s had yet but I can only hope he can get back into form. Help Pascal, OG, and Scottie out. I can only hope
Doesnt matter if he does we need depth more than fred, Trent is playing better with siakam
Nah, if you look back dating to last season, he has been in this slump since after last seasons all star break where he got that knee injury. He is a small pg whose body is breaking down on him. This is like a kemba walker situation
@@noblevenom2858 honestly, a lot of us were hoping Fred would take on an off-ball Steph Curry-esque role, but NN be letting him crap on the team offense. Playing like he's Luka without the bag or passing.
🤣 he’s cooked.
He’s done
I think the effects of previous first round pick movement is starting to take a toll.
HOU, SAS, ORL, OKC, UTA, NOP, and NYK all have surplus of firsts from previous trades but apart from pels & Knicks won't move any of it.
On the other hand there is LA (both), CHI, ATL, MIN, DAL, BKN, CLW, and MIL who have already spent future capital leaving little to trade from.
And there are also some teams who have future capital but not their first this year like BOS, POR, and DEN.
So all of a sudden due to the mass player movement and first round pick trades it's becoming like nba2k where many teams don't have their firsts anymore and the ones who do are rebuilding so there becomes no capital available to be used in a trade.
James Jones needs to wake up
And trade what for who?
He can't even make any moves because Sarver still has to sign off on trades for players who make $10 mil+. Espn has an article about it.
@@damnthatsfr5475 We need to 100% trade jae crowder. he hasn't played all season
@@itsdiamondnight3821 I feel like most people realize that, the issue is that other teams don't value him the way the suns do
Can’t believe he didn’t to that rui trade
The Raptors need to make trades. Period. Also Nick Nurse is still riding on the success of 2019 and I think he's overstayed his welcome at this point
For the longest time I thought that that bulls jersey in the background was Ron Artest. Kenny finally proved me wrong.
Celtics fan here, Malcolm Brogdon is starting to suck and I wouldn't mind getting Fred van fleet or D'angelo Russel for him in a trade.
Pacers fans nodding in understanding
I just started watching NBA this season. Always loved basketball, played basketball, so I knew some players and watched the Finals scores in the GSW X Cavaliers era (I just couldn't watch actual games, because I'm from Europe, so most games start at like 2-4 AM), so and I'm not a total newbie, but man, Kenny helped me understand so much about the league just in few months. Thanks Kenny, you are just awesome
Watch thinking basketball youtube channel. It also helps a lot. And there you can find the best Nba players peaks of all time
Yes
Cause alot of these young players are overvalued and overrated. James Wiseman is a major victim of this 💯
The NBA market is inflated right now. Picks are worth way more, and players are worth way more.
General managers are realizing trades put their jobs at risk more than doing nothing.
Not making trades can put there jobs at risk as well
I’m glad you’re enjoying this channel more. I’m a huge fan of this kind of content and I’m excited you’re shifting focus over here. I loved your gaming content on kot4q, that’s how I found you years ago, but with 2k being stale, not much to do over there. Still creative asl tho. You’re legit the only RUclipsr I really keep up with nowadays
This channel is actually how I found you. Do what u love kenny 👍🏽
That article that you're quoting says that the Denver nuggets could maybe shop Jamal Murray or Michael Porter Jr? What!! That's just stupid.
The NBA GM get it, Look at the league and see the parity. Why is there parity, It call Player development. Look at a team Like Minnesota last year, they were in the battle for Play in, and in the Play off, why because they had no draft Picks last year. There only choice was to develop withing, at player development. The Goebert Trade has not work out because it takes time for team to jell. I predicted this would happen. I love it, lol The shocker to me was Utah being relevant early part of the year, I knew they had talent, but didnt think they would jell so soon. Look at Sacramento, in their case it the Head coach and his defensive mind set. It you fools here who think they know more than the GM, who are always talking trades because you have nothing else going in your life. Look at the NBA salary, I think there only 2 team bellow the NBA salary Cap, NBA is a big business, and these mistakes cost alot of money and, GM, and coaches their jobs. How many of you fools would put your life on these bets, If you are wrong you would have to nuke yourself. That what you are asking these GM to do with their career with bad trades.
I have been watching and enjoying this channel the most out of all of your channels for a couple years now if that means anything.
A TRADE! Noah Vonleh and cash from Boston to Spurs, not sure we can call it a trade..😂
Donovan Mitchell looking beautiful on the cavs I'm just saying
I blame the off season . Too many players got bags they didn’t deserve and too many first round picks were given away for inadequate talent. Another thing is GMs believe in their picks now so they are letting them develop . It seems like every team believes they have what it takes to win the chip as currently constructed but i know a few teams with fairly OK records that could make some moves to get better
This the best comment ive seen.. i think u nailed it
Alot of superstars getting older why trade away your draft picks when its obvious the league is shiftin
Build for the future the league will be wide open soon
Draft talent and develop for down the line
Honestly this just got me feeling like trade deadline this year will be absolutle insanity, so many teams need to make moves, and it'll be fun to watch the chaos unfold 10 minutes before deadline closes.
Noah Vonleh just got traded for like nothing and immediately waived but i guess it counts.
I think also with teams that were suppose to tank do well and vice versa its like a free for all for gms. Even teams like the nets are title contenders now when not too long ago it looked hopeless. The warriors are hot and cold are a good example too so everyones going by game by game.the suns were favorites and look like a mess now. You can make the case for alot of teams to be title favorites. The nba has so many storylines
How about Moses Moody for Jakob Poeltl? San Antonio loves young talent and Moses Moody has been the odd man out in Dub Nation. I'm not sure about Golden state's draft pick selections but maybe they could throw a second rounder in with Moody.
Jakob is worth a first plus moody trade value Isn’t that high
Lakers better start moving some pieces asap, although i think it’s highly unlikely
I don’t see why they would at this point. There’s no move they could make that would make them contenders even if AD was healthy
One of the only teams r n dying to wheel and deal are the Lakers...but who wants what the Lakers are willing to give? tsk, tsk
[sorry to be that guy, carry on...]
We also have a lot of teams in a spot where they don't know where they are at. Teams like Utah, Chicago, Indiana, Washington, New York, Atlanta, etc could all make playoffs or fall to the lottery, so there aren't really sellers or buyers, also with the young players being what the league revolves around, a lot of teams have players with potential to be good, so they won't want to trade them away yet.
Very good point
I think most of the teams you mentioned are gonna be or continue to be stuck in the same spot in terms of success.
ATL need to make a trade or else trae is going to force his way out, but I can’t think of anything that would push them over the top which is the problem

When you thought this was Kennys main channel and forgot he did 2k videos 😂
Yea dudes a beast
Actual basketball is better than transactions. Spida just put up 71 but the league needs more excitement?
I heard that another big reason for this was the salary cap. There have been talks about a hard cap being instituted and that teams don’t want to be handcuffed in the offseason.
I think it has more to do with not many teams being sellers. Because the standings are so close, a lot of teams feel they can compete. There are only a couple true tanking teams. When you have more buyers than sellers, you're not going to have much movement in the market, so to speak.
The raptors need to pick a direction. Either trade for depth or trade for the future. Playing our starters 40mins per game while also losing is the worst possible situation.
The parity across the league means less teams are selling, less teams selling means the pieces that are available are at a premium market value. Teams don't want to pay that premium and no trades happen. I think by the deadline some of the borderline teams will either prove they belong in the playoff race or fall out and we'll see more movement.
If you’re 10th, you’re just trash.
Plain simple. The play-in is such a false hope. Whoever comes up with that idea is such a 🤡
Rudy keeps catching strays, now people blaming him for the lack of trades 💀
It’s not necessarily his fault, the Wolves are the ones who overpaid for him.

With the Suns, it looks like it’s harder to make trades because Robert Sarver still technically has the say-so with trades.
Dont the suns have a new owner now?
@@blendingcool Yes but theres a lot of finalization happening that could take a while, and could last until past the trade deadline
Look at Kenny man so inspirational
I think Front Offices are afraid to make trades cuz they don't want to be fleeced. They value their players way too high (which isn't a bad thing), but if the consensus is saying that the player is an average player and you think they're a star level...well, then there'll be an impasse or someone has to compromise. We all know Front Offices have too much pride to be the one to acquiesce to someone else's demands. Too bad for us, the fans.

Great videos every time!
PHX is down really bad right now. They NEEED to make a move, multiple. They need some back court help, and a wing. Cam Johnson is apparently still pretty far away. They said 1-2mo when he had his surgery, and it’s been 2mo and he’s still not cleared for contact. He’s doing individual drills, but there’s no timetable. Book still has 3wks before he’s re-evaluated.
I’m speculating, but I could see Cam taking another month before he plays. Then he will be on a mins limit, he may not be fully ramped up until like mid February.
With the new owner, if I were him, I’d try to get Crowder back. He’s not sitting out bc he’s not starting…he’s sitting bc they wouldn’t extend him. He’s making $11,183,800 in 22-23. Expiring. He wanted an extension for at least 2 more yrs at the vet max. Relative to 3&D guys that have played as long as he has, he hasn’t made that much. He wants security. Counting this season, he’ll have made nearly $66M in 11 seasons. He’s 32, so the next 3yrs (if he gets a 3yr extension) will almost certainly be the biggest contract he will sign again in his career.
I get wanting to start Cam. You’re going to be investing a lot in to him and he’s way younger, way better shooter. But wing depth is super important for a contender. Crowder is a useful rotation F and 6”7+ guys who can defend big wings and at least hit open corner 3s are valuable.
Plus the $ he’s asking for is very low. The MLE next yr will be like $11.3-11.4M y1. As I said he’s making $10,183,800 in 22-23. His max extension is $12,220,560 in 23-24. Then $13,198,205 in 24-25.
That’s about 2/25.4 and change. 3yr extension is $14,175,850 in 25-26. So 3/39.6 or so.
To compare, the projected MLE is 2/23.3, or 3/35.81. So he’s asking for justtt over the MLE. He’s absolutely worth that number, even for 3 more yrs, and if they decided they wanted to move on from him next year, they could next deadline and at least get a 2nd rounder in the process, maybe more if he plays well this year.
PHX needs him for depth too. When you trade a guy like Crowder, it’s almost always to another good team for draft capital. Not a good player.
If for some reason Crowder isn’t an option, things get more complicated. Bc you do need to make a trade to get a back court piece like an Eric Gordon or something…and everyone wants 3&D F’s. I’d call up DET and see if they’d part with Bojan for the right price. Crowder should get you a late lotto protected 1st from a contender, or at least a premium 2nd as well as some middling 2nd (think CHA ‘23 2nd, and maybe an OKC ‘25 2nd or whatever). So maybe you can send crowder to that 3rd team for the two 2nds along with an expiring deal, and then maybe you have to throw in a swap way out in the future (like a ‘29 swap) or maybe a ‘23 1st that’s say T18 protected in ‘23, then T18 protected in ‘24, and if it doesn’t convey it becomes ‘27 and ‘28 2nds or whatever. Along w like Cam Payne or whatever (obv assuming you get Gordon). Something like that.
Ideally you can just get crowder back, or find a 3rd team that’s willing to give up a 1st for Crowder. Maybe that’d include a contract that runs in to next year they don’t want. Like Grayson Allen, George Hill, Payne, and a 1st for Crowder. Then you send those two, the 1st, and Payne to DET for Bojan. Maybe toss in a couple 2nds since they’re taking on Grayson who I doubt they want for next year along w Payne who I believe has $ on the books next yr too.
Damar to the grizzlies 😊
I just wanted to say I hope and pray damar hamlin a healthy recovery from us Nba fans we gotta back him and the whole sports world and hope he’s ok
I think the real value for GMs around the league is in players on the 2nd or 3rd year of their rookie contracts, or seeking their first contract after their rookie deal, rather than picks. I'm thinking players like Keldon Johnson, Coby White, or Saddiq Bey, who have shown flashes, but maybe have been hidden behind a player in whom their current franchise had more faith, or perhaps was just outright misused.
I don't think anybody saw San Antonio as having a 'duo' of any sort, when DeJounte Murray was their marquee player. Yet, moment Murray was traded, Keldon Johnson emerged. He was drafted in 2019. He's not a 'pick' or even a rookie, but coukd probably have been had for much less in picks than what GMs currently want for known-commodity players.
Compare the value of getting a pick and using it on a Mo Bamba or a Jarrett Culver versus doing your scouting and getting a Tyrese Maxey or Desmond Bane.
Picks probably shouldn't be 'the reserve currency' anymore.
The Rudy Gobert trade didn't mess up the market, Danny Ainge did. I'm positive Gobert wasn't the only Jazz player on the trade market with a ridiculously high asking price. I would say the asking price from the Spurs for Dejounte Murray was high but it was reasonable. For example, Ainge asking for salary matching and 2 1sts for Jarred Vanderbilt is the kind of asking price that messed up the market. More teams should be looking to do what Indiana and Sacramento did, a seemingly equal trade that's worked out for both teams. But like I said, that's tough to pursue when everyone is comparing potential moves to what Ainge got for Gobert.
celtics just made a trade😂
The Heats pat Riley has done absolutely nothing to make trades. He has let at least,10 excellent players get away, and keep dead weight like,Lowry,Duncan Robinson,Dewayne Dedmon, that's about,50 million,Riley could have gotten a few of these players.
I hope the Mavs can make a move or two to get Luka some help.
Having a player that good at that age is unprecedented & they could compete for well over a decade if they don't run him off.
eric gordon gna get traded soon
While all this may be true, I think it's important to realize trades don't always happen this early before the deadline. Looking at last year the first trade wasn't till Jan 3rd, which was only the Rondo to Cavs deal. Big trades just don't happen right away.
I think if we get into Feb and we're seeing absolutely no moves, even small ones like we've seen in earlier years, then we can conclude there's some imbalance. But it's too early to tell right now.
Demar to the Lakers would be Kenny's nightmare 😭😭
We are in a time where the championship is WIDE open and every team, pretty much is a good move or 2 away from being contenders or overwhelming favorites. The Era of the Old Big dogs is coming to an end

Danny Ainge got the league scared. That Gobert trade DID mess up the market. Danny gonma get your firstborn and your soul for Jordan Clarkson the chucker and GMs are fed up.
After watching this video, I also realized that no trades has happened this season. I know that my Suns are looking to trade Jae Crowder and it hasn't happened yet, I can't wait for the first trade to happen and watch everything fall and happen
wow i not remembered of crowder man, can this guy not have a team for this season and just not playing?
Yup I’m just waiting what we do in Miami BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE NEED TO GO COME ON PAT MAKE A MOVE
The contenders are winning and the tankers are tanking. Only exceptions are the Jazz and Pacers exceeding expectations. Those two have many of the assets you'd expect to be on market. Then you got teams on fringe like raptors, Hawks, Knicks, bulls and heat trying to wait till deadline to see if their good enough to be buyers. You only have about 5-6 teams that could really start the wheel turning.
I like FVV but I wouldn't be mad if he's moved, he's an amazing leader on the team and I am skeptical of Raptors making the playoffs at this point might be a good idea for them to capitalize on a contender needing more solid leadership. I'd keep OG his defense is worth it, he's only 25 and I do think he pairs well with Scottie once Scottie figures out this second year growing pains.
yoyyoyooy
That typically means there is one big fish to be landed. This year are are several big fish. You got KD, you got Draymond, you got KYrie, you got maybe lebron
It looks like those Utah Jazz trades have ruined everything. Danny Ainge has made every GM looking to get a bag out of even the most insignificant role players. Where's the fun in that?
Fred VanVleet career best was 42% from the field. He is a volume shooter that is too small to be an effective defender and won't get you buckets at any logical percentage to win consistently. So I think his best chance is a stupid team overpaying him
