I really couldn't make my mind up on which version to get. However after watching I decided just to buy both. I can see my pals and I having a great time with this game. Thanks for the great video :)
+Drive Thru Review i mean like are the cards i mentioned for the long night version just a copy of the base game? or are they comepletely new and have different thing written on them
And you don't have to worry about not being able to play the Crossroads from the first edition. You can install the Dead of Winter app, they are all there, randomized and narrated. If you encounter problems finding the app let me know.
I know you can mix characters but would you prefer them to be separate or together? Just curious because I know the newer characters might have more beneficial abilities to go in line with the new concepts of the game and I could imagine using older characters would be obsolete or a detriment to your team.
I think the characters are an easy thing to just throw together. You are right that some of the new characters key off of the expansion modules, but I would personally be OK with original characters. They are still pretty good. You only really need to be careful mixing the other decks imo.
Hi Joel, loved the review. I've still got a question that is lingering: would you say this version is a DoW 2.0, with everything in the original plus more? On a similar note, you mentioned that as a stand alone you could immediately buy this one and enjoy it to the fullest, but does it add anything new if you would combine it with the original afterwards?
I was indeed hinting on that. Everything DoW brings to the table, also this edition brings. And more. So mainly variety. Thanks for your reply. (And apologies if i phrased my question in a strange way.)
I pre ordered mine from Plaid Hat Games as this game is not available anywhere in Spain in English and I got a rather nice promo card with some biker on it; the gangs in this game are meant to be super tough. I love the original and Plaid Hat Games simply rocks. Speaking of which any Sea Fall news ?
I add all expansions to base games eg zombicide and season 2 & 3, to make a massive game and i will do this as well with dead of winter and add all this to the first game. What's your thoughts and what did you do?
I would slow boat it and just play with expansion stuff alone. I'm going to just play with expansion only for a bit and then one day mix it all how the rules instruct.... just to kind of forget the old stuff.

What a difference 6 month makes. I look at Your Top 10 games of 2016 and it barely made it in top 20. Not even close to "best game of the year" from this review.
Great review! Would be awesome if folks with the old game could snag those heavier duty boards to upgrade our sets!

Thanks for the great video :)
Which version would you personaly recommend to buy?
In the base set (SPOILER WARNING [I guess]) is one crossroads card that triggers when somebody yawns at the table :D
Hah! That card has never come up for me (as far as I know anyway). Awesome.
Great review, nice work
Thank you!
I'm glad they continue to deliver crossroads cards despite offering a crossroads app since the app doesn't handle the "keep this card" events.
Thank you for an informative review.
have you tried the coop variant called prisoners dilemma. you both get a secret and a betrayer secret.
Woah... what the crap... No. I just now read up on it on BGG at your mention. That sounds amazing.
Yeah its funny. I played it with my fiancee and she double crossed me :)
Btw loved the video !
Thanks. Thanks for mentioning that variant as well.
Does the crossroad, crisis, objective and secret cards have the same context as the base game or is it different?
What do you mean by context? There have the same game function for sure.

+Christian Romaguera 100% different
+Drive Thru Review i see i see thank you so much! definitely helped me make my decision to buy this expansion! subscribed

I really want to play this game, I haven't played the original. Thank you for the review, it was really helpful and clear! :D

I guess I don't understand the question. Combining them adds more variety between game sessions.

No worries. Just wanted to make sure I was answering you.
Very cool review! Thanks!
Thanks gNOAMe :)

Seafall comes out in September... I think.

Which one of the two is more approachable, complexity wise, to gamers not familiar with this type of game?
The base game is definitely the better intro.
Is this a good 2 player game?
Yes actually. Unlike the original game, playing straight co-op works very well here.
Thank you!
Great review ! Probably my favorite game of 2016 too !! ;)
Is there any reason to own the original over this?
Instead of? I would say no. In addition to? Yes. (more variety etc...)
Wow.....favorite game of the year? Already? No Cry Havoc? Seafall? Scythe? It does seem sweet and I love to play DoW ;-)
Certainly needs some more time to marinate, but yes :)
Not expected after some other reviews I saw about it. But well....well done Plaid Hat Games :-D

I disqualified it as it's an expansion, otherwise it would be way up at the top of that list.
