Our Minister of Defence had announced BILLIONS in a total overhaul of the Canadian Military inclusive of a deal just negotiated / completed recently for purchase of 88 new US Fighter Jets and some Helicopters as well. NORAD will be completely rebuilt inclusive of brand New Hangars for Aircraft and a RADAR station etc.. New Pilots / Techs. will be hired & trained. It's an extensive overhaul as Announced by our Gov. in response to the Russian aggression in Ukraine. PM Trudeau has acted absolutely correctly and is an excellent Leader who was re-elected three times in a row by Canadians.

We are spending BILLIONS on Military Upgrades as already announced by Fed. Gov.Defence Minister previously. Just announced a finalized agreement with US for the purchase of 88 Fighter Jets as part of NORAD upgrade. Canada has announced incremental upgrades all through the Military. Selecting, testing, negotiating the costs & agreements, takes time. 2% of Canada's GDP is $43 Billion USD.
    Question number one
What would Canadians be willing to cut to spend $56 Billion Canadian on defense.
Would Canadians be willing to cut infrastructure spending or healthcare to pay more money into defense?
    Question number 2.
What possible difference would 2%, 3%, 5% or even 10% in defense do for Canada if it got into a nuclear war with a nuclear power?
How would getting more ships, more tanks, more warplanes and more soldiers save us, our cities and our populations in nuclear war?

And fighting ongoing still around lil ol Bakhmut , russia took at least 10 months, longer than the Battle of stalingrad and not in control still of the area around . I believe that the real prize for USA interests is facilitating the inability of Canadian govt to fund universal health care, hence losing it to private Healthcare, this is not the behavior of a trusted ally. However there is a bully on the block and preparations must be made. Use the monies from subsidies on fossil fuels to increase military spending, also if USA administration is keen on Canada hitting 2% how about talking about softwood lumber tariffs, how about those tariffs be lifted and a deal be made with all stake holders to funnel these freed up monies to military development, in the spirit of fairness.
