As much hype as the Mona Lisa at the Louvre. But if you are an Archaeologist that will be the Mona Lisa for that field. You like theater, do you like art?

That’s right, I’m a total theater addict. I do have a great appreciation for art, as well as history, and love getting lost in museums, though I’ll admit I’m not expert yet.
I love that you compared it to the Mona Lisa. I found it similar in that there was so much chaos around it in the museum that it made really getting to calmly look at the details to appreciate it tough - just like the big crowds of the Mona Lisa room at the Louvre. Though I do appreciate that it’s easier to get closer to the Rosetta Stone than it is to really get up close to the detailing of Mona Lisa.
In both experiences, I felt so lucky getting to see them in real life, but in both instances, it felt overshadowed by the chaos of crowds pushing forward (in the stones case, that included being hit twice by strollers in the process), wanting to get a glimpse. I think that’s why in the end, I felt more of an emotional connection with other less popular displays at both museums.
How did you feel in those instances?

@@allytravels Thanks for replies Ally. Honestly, overwhelming and suffocating like going to a Disney ride on Christmas. Being a self taught pre-recorded History expert and Parson and Otis schooled in Art I do appreciate both artifacts but will not stand in zig zag lines to see them again. Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena California permanent collection displays most of my favorites pieces. Have you been there?

Oh that’s the perfect way to describe it 🤣 No, I’ve never been before. But it’s def on my to-do list now! What’s your favorite piece there?

@@allytravels Woman with a Book (Picasso), too many Henry Moore and Rodin Sculptures, Renoir, Monet, Matisse… and so many iconic paintings on permanent exhibit. I live in Rancho Santa Margarita so about an hour away from Norton Simon. Also here in L.A. located the Getty Villa and Getty Center. Let it known when you plan a visit.

Oh wow, it sounds amazing! It’s absolutely on my to do list with that many amazing artists on display. The Getty Villa is another spot I’ve been wanting to see - will def ask for advance when I finally plan the trip. You seem like a great resource for ideas 😊

What an awful touristy cliché. "Done" the British Museum... There's a LOT more to the British Museum than just the Rosetta Stone! It's a fantastic place! Though it helps to have a curious mind, rather than just being a brain-dead tourist, ticking off an item on their 'to do' list...
It would take at least a couple of full days to see everthing the museum has to offer and I know that most visitors aren't going to have the time or desire to spend that amount of time there but at least approach it with more of an open mind and positive attitude than this airhead did. If you do, you'll get a lot out of it. :)

Interesting opinion, I do agree the museum has a lot to offer, however, the museum was far too crowded to be enjoyable, it’s as easy as that. There are far better museums in London that aren’t as chaotic and equally, if not more interesting, in my humble opinion.
It seems you’re making snap judgements and cliche statements about tourists, instead of considering you’ve seen limited clips of an entire day spent there. Clearly, you have issues of your own if you prefer to use your time to put others down instead of treating everyone with kindness or even elaborating on what you enjoyed about the museum so that this could’ve been a learning experience for others (assuming you’ve been there) - I’m sure you’ll find this to be another “awful cliché”, but if you try kindness, instead of negativity, you’ll get a lot out of it :)
